Why? Tsunade and the Raikage haven't even participated yet, Naruto is still in the game as is Bee and many other hardhitting allied ninja such as Kakashi. Hell, they even got Itachi.

I mean yeah it's gonna be a tough fight even now but I just can't imagine that the Hokages were actually so strong that any one of them participating in the fight would destroy all hope of victory.

Yeah. The series has gone through power inflation (if thats the right word). In order to try and keep the fights "interesting and cool", the characters have steadily gotten more powerfull and gained new abilities. During the Orochimaru vs Sarutobi fight, all we had really seen were genin vs genin, so that fight looked very "badass", even though there were very few ultra-super-awesome-moves used.

But if you look their fight now, it seems pretty weak compared to the latest things in the series and what the other kages have done. The Sarutobi in part 1 vs the current part 2 Kyuubi!Naruto would be a massacre actually. I think it would be nice to see a flashback or something about the hokages. For example, Madara vs First Hokage flashback showing how massively strong the hokage would be even by current standards. Either that, or Kabuto somehow managing to summon the hokages even though they are sealed.

The problem with that is that it would bring Minato back into the playing field, and it's all but canon at this point that he's the strongest Kage ever who was all but unbeatable. Either we'd have to suspend our disbelief a bit and watch Naruto beat him down or we'd have Minato execute an Itachi-like "break free," which would fuck the villains up a bit too much.

Frankly these revived Kage are getting a little too much hype (10,000 ninja, really? From where?) for them to get their asses beaten in a single chapter by Naruto.

Numbers in Naruto have always been ridiculous. They've just gotten more so with Naruto getting repeated power ups. Naruto didn't really need another boost after Sage Mode and defeating Nagato, but he has to keep pace with Sasuke in this increasingly lame weapons race. I imagine Kishi is just wishing he could start over from the end of Part I with a redo. I know I am.

Next he's going to find a way to combine Sage Mode and Kyuubi mode to become the Nine-Tailed Golden Toad of Konoha.

I don't see why people are so annoyed at the impossible numbers. Hidden Villages are like characters, they must keep getting bigger and better so they keep the interest of the viewers.
According to Part 1, Konoha shouldn't have more than five hundred ninja, the vast majority of them Chuunin with only a select few being Jounin. But where would be the fun in watching a few dozen Chuunin go at each other?

As much as we dislike what's been done, we'd probably dislike the alternatives even more.

The alternative being a select few squads of the best of each village teaming up to take on reasonably powerful revived Kage while the chuunin and genin take arms to stop the weak but plentiful white zetsu, while the best of the best go at it against Madara, his jinchuriki, and Kabutomaru? Sasuke actually fighting Naruto? Yeah, that sounds bloody awful. As far as I am concerned, the two Pain fights were and are the pinnacle of part two. The Onion AV club has a great article on how hard it is to keep long running fiction from ballooning out of control. I think Kishi is way past that, but I will still read for the closure. I just do nor in anyway expect the series to be consistently gripping like part one and part two for a bit.

Yeah, I kind of liked him the most from the resurrected Kage's. The Raikage's bad@ssery seemed rather unbelievable and artificial. Holding off ten thousand shinobi for three days is a feet that's more ridiculous than awesome.

Rezzed Raikage doesn't have a personality, that's why it's hard to like him.

Anyways, those Kiri ninja sure are a funny bunch. No eyebrows, sharpened teeth and all these misty tricks and illusions. Oh, and the overcompensating swiss knife swords.

Its kinda strange that Naruto's casually blowing everyone apart - either by directly hitting them or by tricking them into hitting themselves - while the others, the Kages included, are having trouble even when double-teaming a single opponent.

Still, while the Mizukage seems crazily strong, I think this is going to be Gaara's fight and victory.

EDIT: As to the Raikage, how in the world does one man hold off ten thousand people? I mean, shouldn't at least a few of a ten thousand fighters be able to slip past him in all the confusion of battle? It'd've been more believable if he'd said that the Raikage destroyed an army of ten thousand by himself.

Yes, I also like him the most, his witty remarks are awesome. Anyone else find it interesting that Suigetsu is "probably" related to second Mizukage? If it's true then Hoozuki are slowly climbing the top of most powerful Mizu country's clan list, right next to Kaguya.

I never really thought that the Kaguya were very powerful. Seemed to me that Kimimaro was a bit of an anomaly. They got wiped out easily enough.

Anyone else having a little trouble reconciling the fact that the Mizukage was able to use his jutsu to pick up that turtle island and fly around with it, yet is approaching chakra exhaustion from simply using a few Dust techniques? I guess there's a real drain from using that branch of abilities.

Kimimaro was the only one with a Kekkai Genkai at the time. He "had abilities that even his war-loving clan feared".

Gaara is as awesome as ever. One of the few that don't get worse the more screentime they get.

I lol'd at the Water Shot technique, didn't Hodi from One-Piece use the exact same thing a couple chapters ago?

I took that to mean that his Kekkai Genkai powers were significantly stronger than those of the other members of his clan, not that they didn't have the powers.

Yes, however, almost, if not all of Kimimaro's abilities were based on his significantly stronger bloodline. I'd say that the Yuki clan would have been very strong, since even after the bloodline purges, the kiri ninja were terrified of Haku. This would be over 18 years at least since the previous Yuki ninja (Haku's mum was not a ninja).

For me, the Hōzuki clan is at the top by a narrow margin. This can change if we find out that the Shōdaime or Sandaime Mizukage was a Yuki.

I loved Gaara's pyramid Desert Funeral. Looked boss as fuck. The mizukage looked the coolest out of all the kages to me, so its good to see him given some quality screen time.

That Tsuchikage execution shot looked pretty awesome. I was disappointed (but not surprised) it was a clone.

Not sure if that still needed spoiler tags, but w/e.
