The numbers in the series are always a bit silly.

Lets take Konans explosive tags for instance. She says in 510 that prior to the meeting with Madara, she prepared "six hundred billion explosive tags" to take down Madara. Even if we were to assume that she could prepare 1 tag every second, and that she could do this nonstop 24 hours a day. It would still take according to google: 600 billion seconds = 19.0132588 millennia

Or how about the fact that apparently in 537, 50% of all the troops the good guys had died during the first day of this war. at 40000 losses, that would mean someone dying every other second, nonstop (approx.). And yet there have been several ninja world wars before this, that lasted for months or years and yet no one seems to find losing 50% of their fighting force during the first day anything to be concerned about.

It kinda sucks that the author cares so little about the numbers making sense. Better to just ignore them when they are utterly silly like the one with the Raikage here.

If nothing else, a lot of the ridiculous numbering could be acknowledged as human error and legend. Sometimes they just don't work (e.g. Konan), but with something like the Raikage's feat, it helps me to assume that whoever is retelling it has either embellished the numbers, or heard them embellished from someone else. He probably didn't hold off a huge number like 10,000, but it may have been told that way after the fact.

Not to mention that any army which loses 50% of its fighting strength in a single day would have massive, massive structural problems. Usually it only takes around 30% losses for a unit to be considered combat-ineffective. It's probably even worse for ninjas, who seem to really, really need teamwork in order to be effective (or at least, that's how it was until Naruto switched to having 20 ninjas on each side with super-jutsu, and a whole bunch of canon-fodder).

Honestly I just wrote that part off as Kishimoto not knowing a damn thing about actual war/conflicts and ignored it, really. He's a seinen mangaka, not a military historian.

I took that as her saying that she could write the seal on one piece of paper and then replicate it a huge number of times from each paper. Say for each paper she produced, she could make a thousand more, it wouldn't take nearly so long for her to produce 600 billion explosive tags. Don't just assume that everything has to be done by hand.

I was going to calculate this using googles math thing for help, when I noticed in the search results that someone had already done the work for me. Since it was a forum I know, I figured I would post a link to someone who explains 600 billion better than I could:

    http://www.narutoforums.com/showpost.php?p=34971469&postcount=47

600 billion is such an absurd number that even if we assume that what you say is true, it would still mean she would sending out countless millions upon millions of tags every fraction of a second. Now Naruto is obviously a manga just for fun, so using physics and math in a series that basically has magic can be a bit silly. But 600 billion tags or 10000 vs 1 fight and such are just so absurd numbers that even the saying "a wizard did it" stops working.

Damn you maths. You hurt me.

Still, it's probably best to ignore Maths in the manga. Just did a bit of maths myself and for 90,000 people to die within a day, a person would have to die every 0.96 seconds. I could accept this for a small amount of time, but for a full day?

    No way.

And don't forget that the 40k that died on the good side were all basically people. Since we don't know them they are basically called "fodder" by many, but when you think about it they would all be people who grew up from childhood, were taught and trained for years and so on. In other words a LOT of time and effort went into each one.

The army of the bad guys? Zombies raised by Kabuto who can always create more with a bit of time gathering dna(heck, he could use those who died in THIS fight), and clones of Zetsu that probably won't be hard for Madara to replace just as soon as his demon statue recharges. That certainly would be faster than the lets say 16-20 years it takes for each living shinobi.

And yet the alliance still acts like victory is possible? If this were an author at wba, I would not let this go so why should I in manga. Infact at this point, it seems likely that we will get a deux ex ending. Itachi will likely deal with Kabuto, instantly ending the zombies. And Naruto will likely find the statue Yamato is in and his kyuubi!chakra will disrupt it, killing all the Zetsus everywhere at once.

Yeah; I've said it before, and it bears repeating; the key to enjoying Naruto and a lot of other Shonen is to just turn off your brain and not think about it too much.

One thing I like about the new development of Gaara is that his mother appears in his sand constructs. Freud could do a lot with that. Vash too, actually.

I don't get it. Can Gaara control gold dust like his father? Or did he micro-manage his sand to carry all that gold dust while fighting the Mizukage?

I wouldn't be surprised in either case.

I was a little disappointed that the Mizukage's "super ability" was only any good because he himself was invincible. Had he not been a zombie killing him would have been pretty damn easy even with his clone running amok. Although it would explain how he and Muu were able too off one another. Muu got the real Mizukage while the clone got Muu.

    I kinda liked it.

The Mizukage calling Gaara good among the five Kage's was something I didn't really expect, but I suppose being as strong as them at his age shows hes exceptional.

Looking foward to Konoha ninja seeing Naruto on the battlefield.

I liked that the Mizukage didn't have an unbelivable backstory.

They still didn't seal him, so the next chapter that may change it. ;)

So, Kages are almost defeated, though having in my mind that Muu tried to warn people about something, I predict that he is not done yet. But what we will see after that? Maybe finally the rest of the battle between Kakashi and the Seven Swordsmen? If not, then probably Itachi vs. Kabuto and whoever he left as his last line of defense.
