Sci-Fi/DC crossovers?

    I'm looking for any type of story from two genres, really;

Sci-Fi crossovers, especially decent Stargate or Terminator ones that don't fit into the usual cliches asscociated with said crossover (like Magic being from the Ancients/Harry being an Alteran, etc).

DC Universe or Marvel crossovers, with Harry being with Kara Kent/Kara Zor-El or another female character such as Zatanna.

I don't really know that much about Marvel or DC, so I'm very blind in that area.

Can anyone, off the top of their head, think of any/suggest any? I'm kind of tired of reading the same old recycled plot-shit on ff.net, so I'm trying to broaden my tastes a bit.

    Thanks.

Is there such a thing as a good HP/Stargate crossover?

I've always liked The Terran Ascension. If you ignore the fact that Harry meets Merlin this fic is actually quite decent.

    Yes.

    Also, Crumpets Aren't My Style.

I think this one is in the library. If you're looking for a magical curbstomp, or think a basic shield spell will stop the Deathstar superlaser, you might want to skip it.

I actually read this a couple of years ago but I'd completely forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me.

You're welcome. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Too bad the sequel was abandoned.

I've read very few decent comics crossovers, most of them are dealt with very poorly, especially how Harry gets into the DC or Marvel verses themselves, usually via wonky spell or teh Veil of teh Deaths!!!

I've actually found a semi-original way of doing it, (via a Black Power Ring during his bout with Death in DH) but fail on the actual story. I've tried... it was bad.

Marvel that don't involve X-men are almost impossible to find. I'm really sick of X-men.

*sigh* I'm still not giving up on Black Lantern/Master of Death!Harry. I'm sure he wouldn't be too overpowered or anything. --__--

I can't believe I forgot to mention Project M. Probably the best Marvel Crossover out there and if we're lucky we'll eventually get an update.

The really edgy X-Men story lines from Age of Apocalypse, Hellfire Club and Ultimate/X-Treme X-Men wouldn't be dull at all.

There really is a Loy of material that you can work with at the moment for marvel and dc. I am thinking that you can use Flashpoint as a way to introduce Harry or like Heather said the Black Power ring. Sadly with marvel I haven't really had a chance to jump into, such as with dc and the new 52, but I would imagine the entire Fear Itself arc and X-Men Schism arc would make for an interesting intro for Harry. Sadly, I have almost no talent what so ever writing and my grammar is horrible, as you can see, so I can't pursue those storylines.

Have you thought about blending it with a third element (from Harry Potter and DC), a catalyst to help mesh the two together?

There's already a Blackest Night precedence of Black Power Rings going to other "Earths," seeking out victims (Superman Prime for instance). So, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for one or more of them to find their way into the HP-verse.

My idea was to have one find Harry after Voldemort kills him in the forest and Harry's Train Station vision gets interrupted by a Ring sliding on his finger amidst the circle of Death Eaters and announcing, "Harry Potter of Earth-14, Rise!" (Earth-14 isn't classified as anything in particular. That's why I picked it.)

Zombie Power Ring wearing!Harry goes on a rampage ripping Death Eater hearts out and kills everyone including Voldemort. Then he gets summoned by Nekron (the bad guy during Blackest Night) like all the other millions of
Black Lanterns. He pops up on Earth-1 (New Earth) and eventually gets turned back alive like a lot of the superheroes... then he's stuck on Earth-1. Nagini and Voldemort are dead back home, so not a lot exists for him to really fight for returning, except Ginny, *gag*.

Beyond that my plot sucks. I've tried it straight forward, as a wizard, but Harry really isn't all that talented, not enough to fight super villains anyway.

I've toyed with the idea of a Power Ring wearing Harry, maybe Red (Rage), or even keeping the Black, but being able to use it in some other way since he's the Master of Death. Green is overdone. Violet would have him wearing a thong, so that's out. Blue and Indigo are just lame. Yellow is plain evil, white would be boring, and orange is just out of character.

So Black or Red. Now, how do you keep him from being All Powerful!Ring-slinging!Harry.

I'm still working on that part. Probably hook him up with a partner... Fatality, Arisa, Soranik Natu, I don't know.

The overwhelming problem is that it wouldn't be magical Harry, which is a sticking point for a lot of readers. And if you had a Power Ring you really wouldn't need a wand, so what would be the point on having both?

Say, when Guy was possessed by the red ring it required Mogo to clean the rage power off him, right? Perhaps in this case, the red (or black) ring isn't taken off, but merely keep in check by another ring (say, blue for hope or even white for life) so Harry can't use it all the time, with most of the good ring's energy devoted to protecting him from the bad ring.

If confronted Harry can use the ring (or rings) but the depletion of power may unleash the super-evil ring's power! or something.

In the mean time, Zatanna or freakin' Fate teach Harry DC!magic, and maybe another Lantern (not necessarily Green, yo) teaches him how to control the emotional energy.

Terminal Justice is a decent DC crossover that has Harry paired with Kara. Harry is overpowered, but it's good for a few laughs. It's a sequel to Make a Wish, but can be read on its own.

If you count Smallville crossovers, there's also Harry Potter and the Ascension of Ra. The beginning is pretty terrible, but the story improves as it progresses.

I found this one to be fairly decent, since the author wasn't afraid to change up SG-1 canon by having Harry deal with Kinsey and the Trust.

Plus, the idea of a Harry/Zoey Bartlet pairing is fairly intriguing and was hoping that future chapters would develop it.

    Addendum:

Oma's Choice is a pretty damn good story to read while dealing with a hangover. I wouldn't put this story in For Review, but if you're trying to distract yourself from a hangover this should do the trick.

Mogo gave Guy a full body leach enema, but it didn't clean him out, he was back to raging again in a Brightest Day GL Corps sub-plot. Only a Blue can clean him out properly. Given that, none of the other colors, by themselves, have any effect on a Black. So, no reigning them in will work.

The main Black Lantern power source was destroyed, so any existing Black Rings would have to run off another way. That was one of the Master of Death things. It would allow him to use it working off another method, much like the Violet's worked when their main power battery was destroyed on Zamaron. Ambient universal Love, Will, Death, etc.

No. This very rarely works. The only halfway decent time I remember Harry learning another form of magic worked was in the Denarian Trilogy. And frankly, it's way too much hassle to start from scratch, all over again.

The mechanics of it aren't all that difficult for me to circumvent. I just need to think of a decent plot, other than living day to day in the DC-verse, like every other lame comic crossover fanfic.

If you're okay with a story which has no meaningful conflict, then An Ancient's Journey is the best HP/Stargate crossover out there, IMO.

I've linked to chapter 3 deliberately. The first 2 chapters are clichéd super Harry shit that has no bearing on the rest of the story and will only put you off. It's like he wrote the first 2 chapters then decided to completely change the direction of what he was writing.
