I don't know about 'plebeian mongrel'. He strikes me as more of a 'loose seal.'

Haha, I was going for the conversation between G.O.B. and Amy Poehler's character. One of my favorite moments in the series.

Well, the new season comes out in May on Netflix in one giant swoop, here's some glorious info about the new season, in spoiler tags just in case.

Each episode will focus on a different character, ie 'Michael 1' 'Gob 1'. You could conceivably stop one episode due to curiosity about another character and switch to their episode. Not sure how that will work in practice.
The entire Bluth family will not be reunited until the movie.
Our favorite side characters will return, like Lucille 2 and Barry Zuckerkorn.
Many members of the Workaholics cast will be in the pilot, where Adam Devine is an inept airline worker dealing with Michael.
    Seth Rogen will appear
Kristen Wiig will as well, as Lucille 1's younger self. (so perfect)
Isla Fisher will be in it as well.
Other cameos that I don't particularly care about.
One of the plotlines will be that an Arrested Development movie is being made. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer will be 'stuck in an elevator' with Michael at one point.

Just finished a complete rewatch the other day, getting PSYCHED.

I'm not sure how I feel about each episode focusing on one character, but I'm getting excited about this.

Already on episode 6, want to pace myself, but I also want to finish it so I can do the many rewatchings required to catch the small details.

Up to episode 8 myself, the GOB one was the best imo. Cant wait to see the rest . Pretty good season so far.

Finished marathoning the episodes last night.

Overall, the best episodes were the ones that focused on GOB, mostly because they nailed the balance between being unbelievably funny and genuinely sincere, which the George Michael episodes tried to pull off but didn't quite nail. The worst episodes were the ones that focused on George Sr. - they lacked energy and it was hard to get a feel for the stakes behind them. And while Tobias' and Maebe's plotlines may not have had the biggest emotional impact, they were still hilarious enough that they could be redeemed.

I guess my biggest problem with the whole endeavour is a real lack of driving momentum between the episodes, which leads to a real lack of a climax and obvious sequel bait for the movie they're going to make. While there is something of a sequential 'arc' between stories, I can't help but feel the episodes would have been stronger if the timeline was linear and the episodes were longer. Sure, it would have been a ridiculously tough balancing act nailing the tone and the subplots, but given how many times we leap back and forth along the timeline, it really does feel like the episodes would be better off watched in stand-alone chunks compared to all at once.

Still, it was riotously funny and there were a few moments that were genuinely moving and got an 'aww' out of me, which is better than I would have expected. Definitely looking forward to the inevitable Arrested Development movie now - because really, considering all the factors in play, they need something to bring them all back together.
