Why would you want to read one? Sounds like a really really bad super!indy!Harry. Go read Renegade Cause instead.

 

1. Wrong forum section.

2. It's a commonly used cliche - a large percentage of ff.net indie!Harry stories use that cliche, albeit with phoenixes.

3. What's with the recent influx of one-shot 'looking for' posters? Maybe there should be a post limit for that part of the forum?

 

I am disappoint. When I saw the title, the grammar and phrasing made me think of fics where Harry ended up being someone else's familiar. 'This has potential', I thought. 'Wasn't there a similar plot point in Thief of Hogwarts?' I thought. But no, it's just an idiot looking for terribad shit. :facepalm

 

One of the first stories I wrote featured a Harry with a nundu familiar. He bought it as a kitten (instead of Hedwig) so it had none of the telltale signs of the creature it would become. It's first use was clawing the Basilisk's eyes out. It was also a Black family raised Harry story, and even though I wrote it before I even discovered this site, I knew the ideas were shit, so it never saw the light of day.

There's also Harry's Pets by Shadows In The Sun. Harry acquires a number of 'evil' pets including Mittens the Nundu & eventually a dragon of some sort, and hilarity ensues.

In the Company of Secrets Harry gets a basilisk. Unfortunately its abandoned.

 

The whole idea of a familiar is a boring, pointless deus ex machina you only find in crappy, cliche Indy fics. They're only there to A) overpower Harry B) make Harry seem gentle and kind or C) all of the above.

 

You know, I feel like writing a Harry who loves freaking pets and shit, just to prove you-

God damn it. I really have to remove this "Challenge Accepted" mentality from my brain when I get on DLP.

Then again, a lobotomy before or after going into some of the threads here would be nice

(Yes, the setting sounds quite familiar. The boarding school also has an old, long bearded, white haired headmaster, with a mouse as familiar. And that guy is a great example for how Dumbledore should have been - i.e. he uses his familiar to spy on the underwear of his secretary.)
