I meant in later episodes, Joe. It seems rather likely that they'll drop it. :facepalm

    Yeah, yeah, I got that.

My thinking was that it was adequately addressed and handled in this episode, given that Sam and Dean decided Cas had to die because of what he was doing. There is finality to the consequences of his actions in that. So why would it come back up later?

Because Cas lived? Putting aside the Leviathan issue, Cas became God (or something close enough to it) and stopped being the 'good' Cas. The way I saw it, it wasn't Cas killing all those people.

Agreed. It would be rather hypocritical for the boys to kill Cas after the fact. Sam certainly got his fair share of second chances for things he did when he wasn't entirely himself.

Loved most of the episode but I am not sure what to feel of the leviathan Castiel so far. It does seem a bit forced.

Well, I have some hopes for this season, seeing that they will supposedly also address the thing with the Winchester's running from the law and abusing fake identities, should be interesting.

But I do hope this Leviathan thing won't stick for the whole season.

I kind of hoped they would get Death to bust the cage so that Michael and Lucifer double team God-Castiel.

Makes me wonder what they'll do to deal with the Leviathan(s?), because like God!Cas... it's just not in any books. Predates angels even.

All that aside... I want a stained glass Cas.

Quick tangent- I'm running through the seasons as I post this and am trying not to catch spoilers at a glance but I'm curious if anybody else caught all the nods to The Shining in Season 2, episode 11 "Playthings"?

The Leviathan is in the Bible, so there is at least some lore on it (though it's them in Supernatural). That said, Death referred to them as the Old Ones. There's no fighting the Old Ones. Not unless you have a fishing trawler.

Hmm looks like the story is developing more slowly this season. Never seen a three part opening before.

I thought this was a great one. Sam, Dean, and Bobby all had equally compelling things going on.

I like how the Old Ones get their knowledge from their hosts, it makes for amusing moments such as "Are you a Dr. Sexy?"

I'd almost forgotten how awesome Lucifer was. I'm glad he'll be sticking around a while.

I kept wondering if Lucifer was taking his game to another level when he faded out.

To trick sam into believing he was actually free. All part of his mind games. Then end the season and the series with Sam reawakening in hell because it was all a trick.

Good episode, but if Sam starts cutting himself to feel, I'm out.

    Really liked this episode.
Am glad we don't have to see uber insane Castiel, although I would love him to come back as old Castiel. He was the person on Supernatural who was ressurected the most, so, one more time shouldn't make a difference.

Then again, God might not take his "I am God now" routine very kindly so, he could be gone for good.

Liked what the Leviathan's did, I like it when the monsters are smart.

Sam's crisis was very well done, as is the mystery with Bobby. Also, Dean is starting to crack up, so there will be something happening with that too.

All in all, really good episode

I officially trust Sam's judgement more than Dean's. I'm really getting tired of him and his 'I know best because I'm always right' attitude. I hope he gets his ass kicked next week.

I had a feeling near the end that Dean was going to do it, and I was not disappointed. It's odd, I kind of want to agree that Dean was a bastard for doing what he did, but a part of me also feels that he made the right decision. This is one of those very morally ambiguous situations, and I find it very difficult to choose any side.

She killed bad people no one would miss to make sure her son would live. I don't see any moral ambiguity. I mean yeah; I can understand not agreeing with what she did, but killing her is an entirely different matter. What Dean did was wrong.

Just a side-note I considered earlier; Could the Bobby we see this episode be a rogue Leviathan acting in it's own self-interest? Kind of foreseeing what is inevitably going to happen to the rest of its kind?

I mean, they were all trapped inside of and probably later getting a look at Castiel's memories, so they have to know the threat the Winchesters pose and their self-destructive if successful win-rate against the rest of the heavy-hitters to threaten the globe to date.

Surely they should have been dealt with had Death actually finished Cas off in the first episode instead of being freed at the last moment, and with the hierarchy and some of the Leviathans being troublesome to their overall leader's intentions in the second episode, I could see one splitting off and trying to figure out how to off its brethren and the Winchesters from the inside-out so it later has complete access to the world with no restrictions.

Whether those victims would be missed is irrelevant, the fact that those victims were also bad people and/or criminals is also irrelevant. She killed people to save her son. We can't just say that because she killed criminals it makes everything better. It doesn't. What she did was wrong, it was very, very wrong. If she had been a regular person, she would have been arrested and prosecuted for several counts of premeditated(?) murder. I understand that she acted to save her son, but that really excuses very little from my perspective. Killing several people who had nothing to do with her family to help her son? Not one thing in that sentence is in any way morally or legally acceptable. The fact that she was killed instead of prosecuted is a direct result of her nonhuman condition, and is the primary source of my internal conflict.

To me, it is clear that what she did, no matter her motives, was a terrible, awful thing. Her past with Sam holds little weight in this matter because it is irrelevant with regards to her actions in the here and now. I don't think it would be right to simply let her go after what she did, so what would be the appropriate response? If she was human she could be arrested, but she isn't human. Sam and Dean cannot reasonably watch/imprison her forever, so Dean killed her. Was that the right course of action? I don't know. But I know that just letting her go can't be right either.

Oh please. Dean has done much worse in his time alive and I don't see him paying for his crimes. He's a hypocrite through and through.

Plus, Amy only killed one guy, right? That drug dealer to save her son? The rest of the 'food' she took from dead bodies.

Dean has also been shown to be perfectly fine with killing humans in the past, and isn't imprisoned; does he deserve to die too?

Also, I have to say this again: I'm really fucking tired of Dean's attitude. Despite what he thinks, it is obvious to me that Sam is the stable brother at the moment.
