After watching that I have only one thing to say: Zouken must die!

Unfortunately, I know my wish won't get fulfilled. Hmmm... Are there any good fanfiction where he dies most brutally?

    Surprisingly, no.

Zouken is always one of those annoying insects that always seem to survive. And since most FSN fanfiction remains incomplete, he hasn't really died in any of them yet. >_<

I am referring mainly to that style of anime. Something high energy, fast paced and all. Like, critically speaking there are a lot more anime that I'd probably rank higher than UBW. And several I may rank higher as favorites.

But while something like Baccano was better, I've rewatched scenes and events from UBW a billion more times. Nothing gets me as pumped as watching some of those scenes. =)

Just watched the second episode and... did Caster just invoke Cthulhu?

Edit: And the scene with Assassin was awesome, even if it did end rather quickly.

I cheated and read the Type-Moon Wiki.

His true identity is Gille de Rais, a French nobleman who was once a comrade-in-arms of Joan of Arc. He first introduces himself to his Master as Bluebeard, which is the name of a fictional character based on Gille himself.

But fuck he's an evil motherfucker. Like shit, I don't think I've seen violence like since Elfen Lied. Not even Deadman was that bad.

And yeah, Assassin got royally fucked, but the attempted infiltration was pretty cool nonetheless.

The 2D stuff is still as inconsistent as before, while the backgrounds and settings are still amazing. The conversation at the start between Waver and Rider seemed kinda awkward.

Now I am amused that I am one of the few apparently that have read the Light Novels before this anime adaption.

Which translation did you read? The Baka-Tsui text? I was tempted to go there. Only few translations are finished - though Fate/Zero actually is.

I did read the Baka-Tsui text. It might have been a bad translation, but I couldn't notice if that was the case. Really though, I like the translation more than whatever I saw in the official anime so far, but I think that is more of the fact that as a novel, some things are shown more easily than an anime can. Rider being slightly cruel for one.

Yeah I read Baka-Tsuki way back and agree that certain moments written down just didn't transition that well into the show. But the quality isn't bad so far and I'm still hyped up that this was aired at all. Next episode is going to be boss.

Battle royale anyone? I can't wait to see Gilgamesh's face when Berserker pops up.

Uh... what? Elfen Lied at least had graphic details of a guy losing the top half his face or another getting sliced up. This? Everything was all done conveniently on the other side of a hallway, where the viewers can't see it. I'm bummed that it wasn't even more graphic.

    I dunno.

It's not so much the graphic scenes as much as...listening to some 5 year old kid's screams as he gets torn to pieces. At least in Elfen Lied it was pretty instantaneous for the kids there and it was probably so graphic that it barely felt real anymore. I certainly didn't get as many "cringe" moments in Elfen Lied as I did listening to what Caster did to that kid. And I watched Elfen Lied when I was a lot younger too.

I've tried reading some light novel translations before - Index, Full Metal Panic - and they almost always seem to have horrible writing styles. Probably the people who translate it (can't be an easy job), but yeah, kinda wrecks it for you.

How good of a job did Baka-Tsui do in their translations?

I had a look at a few of their translations and you have to look at every project to judge it.

They have some rules concerning quality, but some people seem to focus on a word by word translation, which results in - for our taste - horrible style, while other translators seem to smooth the text perhaps a bit too much.

Watched the three episodes so far and as a relative newcomer to the series, I wasn't bothered in the least by the info dump. As far as the animation goes, I actually really like it, the sole exception being the walking in circles thing in the first episode, which just looked silly.

Really solid series so, will definitely follow this.

New episode is out and I really, really like all three Servants that are currently fighting. Alexander is awesome and so are Saber and Lancer.

My only problem is, I don't really like any of the masters, with the exception of the master of Berserker. None of them really deserve ordering any of these heroes around.

    Iskandar's entrance was epic.

Kariya is the only one who has a decent reason for entering the war.

    I love Rider so much.

Well, you do know that's how it's written in the novel, right? It gets really graphic later.

Rider's line from last episode actually had me lolling.

"For the moment, this Clinton man will be our biggest obstacle."

I hope he's as epic in a fight as he is at giving comic relief. =P

Really liked the episode, Rider is simply awesome but I like all the servants so far. Rider is my favorite though.

Just watched the episode. Holy crap. And this was just the first real battle too! Another 21 episodes to go!

I think compared to the 5th Grail War, in this so far, every single hero has been utterly epic (except for maybe Bluebeard, who is just a nut case). Most of the Masters are very interesting as well. Way cooler than the 5th where there were 3 high school students (2 of which have no clue what they're doing), 1 elementary school girl and a teacher (who also doesn't know what he's doing).

I'm surprised that most of their identities have come out so early in the war though. Everyone already knows who Saber, Archer, Lancer and Rider are so far.
