Any advice? Primary purpose for computer is game design and moderate gaming, i.e Crysis 2 at mid graphics with steady 35~ FPS.

    I'm planning on these items:

    Intel i5 2400: $190

    Asus P8Z68-V LE: $137

    DDR3 2x4GB 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance Heatspreade: $50

    Cooler Master HAF 922m: $87

Corsair 60 GB Force 3 SSD (For primary functions): $110

Seagate Barracuda 1 TB, 7200 RPM, 32 MB cache (For storage): $60

    Cooler Master GX 750w: $80

    EVGA GTX 560Ti 1GB: $234

    LG 23" LED HDMI/DVI/VGA: $190

    Logitech Ultrathin Illuminated Keyboard: $63

    MS Notebook mouse 5000: $33

Windows 7 Home: Friend giving me a free legal copy or $100.

    Total Cost: $1334 before tax.

What am I getting ripped off on and what could be improved? Any links to places with better deals? I'm trying to stay within $1400, but I'm okay with going about $200~ over at most.

I have two days to make up my mind about the RAM, which seems like a pretty good deal as-is. The other items are up for debate.

I'm a complete newbie to building a computer for myself, so I'm really not sure about this stuff.

Any advice about additional items to get? I'm going to check the shops again for cheaper prices, but I'm not sure about the quality of my current list.

No clue about the other stuff, but why do you need a 63 dollar illuminated keyboard? :\

    <.<

    Cuz I like it...

But yeah, I could just get a standard Keyboard from SIIG for like $10. I just like the feel of that Logitech one.

I could get a MS Siderwinder 6 for $58 instead too.

    Item link deactivated.

And I don't think CM 750w has that many wires, but I'm not sure...

A good keyboard is well worth the extra money.

But yes, modular PSU's are a must.

I'm using pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ to decide what parts to use for my new pc. It might be of help to you.

    fixed now.

It does. Look at the 4th provided image on newegg. All of those + MORE (because 750w = more wires) will be coming out of your psu and not detachable.

Any help on Coolers? I'm not sure about any of those. Don't even have an option on the list yet because I'm more relying on what comes with the parts and the HAF 922m case.

Will 550w be enough to power everything?

I'm not sure how to guesstimate power needs on computers.

Will adding a wireless and sound card up the power consumption a lot?

    So, just to be sure:

    Gtx 560 Ti > Radeon 6870?

And I should get a low price modular that gives 400w~ for any additional power I might need from upgrades?

What upgrades are you going to get? 520w covers everything you need except SLi.

Don't get shitty low quality psu's, it is never worth it. The coolermaster and seasonics I linked are great though.

Evan. Don't skimp on the power supply. Buying a low grade one is a quick way to fuck up your new PC. Getting under 520W if you're planning to upgrade is a bad idea. Power supplies, unless they break down can carry across multiple PC builds.

In case I decide to add more RAM, graphics cards, fans, PCI-E cards (Tuner, sound, wireless), monitors (like Multi-monitors), etc..

I'm not exactly sure how much the extra power that would draw..

Right, so that CM one it is. I can guarantee that one works well with the other CM stuff I'm getting anyways. Not sure about the seasonic one.

Seasonics are awesome but pricey. That cm silent pro is basically the only psu I'd get from them.

And like I said, everything except another gfx card would add an entirely negligible amount of power draw. You'd be completely fine even with 4 sticks of ram, a cpu overclock, 15 fans, a sound card and a tv tuner card.

What's the point of a second graphics card? How do I hook up multiple monitors?

A second graphics card (For a SLi configuration) increases performance by about 30-50% over a single card.

You shouldn't really consider it at all for your first build, it's just a very small maybe for later down the road (and you should do research at that point to see if it's a thing you want).

Plug additional monitors into your graphics card and it magically works (not being sarcastic).

Nowadays I'd get a Sandy Bridge CPU rather than a AMD one. Also, that build has a smaller monitor (21.5" vs 23") and no SSD. I wouldn't skip the SSD, as they give you a really noticeable boost in basically everything.
