Yeah, Nagato struck me as a natural follower, unlike Naruto. After Yahiko's death and thanks to the enormous power of the Rinnegan, he fell into a leadership role, but I don't think he ever really wanted it for himself.

I think it would be interesting if Tobi were Nawaki, and he salvaged Obito's Sharingan.

But I honestly have no idea what Kishimoto is planning, so I'm content to just wait and see.

 

Out of all the characters, Nawaki is probably just about as likely as Obito- I would put them as the marginal front-runners in the race. Meaning they have a chance in hell to be Tobi. Personally, my bet is that Tobi is actually Sasuke from the future, here to derp all over everything. :awesome

So Nagato/Tobi rinnegan was Madara's originally? It's little complicated, but the level of Madara power is unbelievable, resurrected first wasn't so strong - and both supposedly were at the same level.

Liked how Madara took someones sword and started slaughtering the shinobi like a boss.

And that was about the only thing I liked in this chapter.

The fight between Hidan and Shikamaru gave me a glimmer of hope, but a return to that is out of the question now. Even the cliché ridden, über-Naruto crap that's on FF.net most of the time reads better than this shit.

I disagree on you last point, mostly because the current series is entertaining and original in a way most fics cannot hop to approach and the gradual development of what has clearly been a long arc is fascinating.

I know its not the best argument, but if you really don't like reading it why are you?

 

It's certainly 'cool' and entertaining, but I have to agree with Nemrut. This is getting beyond ridiculous. He created 2 Susanoos and each of them was making a hand-seal - end result is that bloody moon he's going to drop on them.

Wonder what Naruto's clone will do. He's pretty much the only guy alive with experience in successfully fighting against the Rinnegan - and in this case it is actually Sharinnegan...(Is 'beyond ridiculous' starting sound like an under statement?)

Yes he will. The eternal mangekyou on its own probably isn't enough for Sasuke to fight on even terms with Naruto (thanks to fox mode), so he'll need another power-up of some variety. Kishimoto just laid out the foundation for Sasuke to get that power-up.

 

What I wonder is how do you active Rinnegan? Another emotional trauma? Taking eyes of your third brother? What do you need to do to get these sweet new eyes.

 

Well, I'm not going to lie. I'm both disappointed and creatively inspired. I think I might write the last third of Chapter 4 of A Different World over the next few days.

Probably the dna from Hashirama. Tobi atleast claimed that the whole reason for the battle was to get access to the powers of Senju.

Since the original wielder of the rinnegan (sage) basically "split" his powers between his two sons, it makes some sense that if you bring those two powers (Senju and Uchiha) back together, you might get a rinnegan.

So Uchiha EMS eyes + Senju dna = Rinnegan.

It might work the other way too. Maybe if you implanted MS/EMS eyes on a Senju/Uzumaki, it would mutate into rinnegan aswell. Assuming that Nagato did not get Madaras Rinnegan, thats a potential explanation for how Nagato got the rinnegan. Madara implanted some spare MS eyes on him and they changed.

If Naruto is ever going to get the rinnegan, thats probably how. Kakashi does have an advanced MS-sharingan afterall, and would likely give it up for Naruto. I rather hope that won't happen though. There are already too many rinnegan users around.
