Having played Xerath a lot recently I have only one way to describe him.

    'Dat Range :awesome.

Honestly, I'm in love. 6300 IP or not. I am SO buying him.

Well if you want range I can only recomend Kog'Maw, his W gives him an extra 250 range for 8 seconds, and his ulti is similar to Xerath's, except it's cd is less than a second.

Wow. Did not think there was a decent sized DLP community on League.

I currently play on the NA server under the nick: Zephyrical

@WalkingDisaster: Lux is another great champion if you love range.

Annie and Tristana have some nice range, though not as much as some of the others. Annie's auto-attack range is up there with Caitlyns and Tristana's passive gives her range as she grows in levels...by level 18 you're hitting pretty hard and from pretty far away.

Annie's autoattack range is pretty high but her spell range is short. Lux, Brand, Xerath and the trolling of AP Kog'Maw are decent spellcasters with high range.

For ranged DPS, Shezza wins here. Top 3 are Caitlyn, Tristana and Kog'Maw (played properly)

@mishie: By level 18 my ult has a range of 1800 with W (for 8 seconds as well) with some of the highest burst in the game. Plus the innate range and harassment of Arcanopulse is just...

    Dayum.

Supposedly at 30 with CDR maxed his Ulti is at a 36 second cd, can't wait to get there. I'm gonna wreck some shit.

@Myst: I'd like to try lux out, but I'm not going to buy her without trying her first. At least until I've bought some champions I'm familiar with already. If she comes around on the free rotation I'll definitely give her a try. Thanks.

@Shezza: I wasn't too fond of Tristana. I got her for free from the facebook thing. But not my cup of tea on account that she didn't seem to have much finishing power. Maybe I just wasn't playing her correctly? Annie is a nice Champ, though. I'm considering buying her.

Lux is a great champ if you build her right. Maxed CDR at level 18/30 gives you a 24 second CD on her ult, and you can make an absolute nuisance of yourself in those times where you're facing off against the enemy but no one quite wants to initiate. Getting a kill on a fleeing enemy with her ult always makes me go :awesome too, especially when you manage it blind.

What's fun about Arcanopulse is just how easy it is to dodge :p

Love facing Xeraths when I take Kennen mid.

Tristana sucks as a champ. Her only real benefit is her 700+ range at end-game. Everything else about her is pretty bad.

If you want skill damage AD carry, then get Graves.

Long range damage assault = Kog.

    Range + Safety = Caitlyn.

Trist is, as of right now, the worst of the AD ranged carries.

Trist's steroid is one of the better steroids in game, actually.

On the range discussion: Range is great, but the problems that ranged champs have is that they lack escapes, which makes them incredibly easy to abuse for skilled bruisers or assassins. And I'm surprised no one mentioned Ori, as she has the second largest range for a caster, spammable abilities, aoe soft and hard cc, as well as shield/speed for teammates.

On Tristana, I have to say that she is certainly not the weakest AD carry right now. As a straight AD carry, Trist deals more damage than Ashe, Cait, TF, MF, and even Vayne vs targets with low armor. Her 90% attackspeed steroid is an absurd power boost when you are rocking real items. On top of this, she has 2 escape abilities by level 6. She can't harass from range in the early game like Cait, but when going for a kill her abilities are definitely just as effective even if they are way more aggressive. The only carries who naturally outdamage her would be Ez/Kogmaw. She is harder to play and I definitely don't enjoy playing her, but she is a very powerful carry.

I play every role but support.

Not really. Quite the contrary, she is one of the best ranged AD carries. With Tristana, at lvl 18 you have one of the greatest range in game, you have a really strong burst with your Q, you have one escape ability or catching up ability and you have an awesome ultimate which can do many things, including ganks, move an enemy carry out of his safe zone, etc.

I main Nasus and Jax top solo, and jungle either Xin or Jarvan. When I go support its as Soraka.

I'm thinking about buying either Gangplank or Udyr. Which would dlp recommend?

Both are good. Udyr is one of the top jungler (and is a pretty good soft counter to Lee Sin for those that are interested). Gangplank is a tad less good as a jungler, but I think he is easier to play.

    Europeans love Gangplank.

He shows up less in the American meta.

Udyr is probably the best jungle at the moment (phoenix udyr clears jungle so fast and ganks so hard), and actually a really solid top laner.

Gangplank can play any lane effectively in any role. You can jungle GP, top lane GP, mid GP, be the AD carry bot lane, or even be Support GP. It all works, oddly enough.

I would probably take GP first, just for that versatility, as well as that Udyr is harder to master.

I've played with ChaosGuy and ThisPerson before. I'm Conloaldh(Yes, stolen from NMB's fic and misspelled to boot) on LoL. Lvl 22 currently I'm not pro, but I won't feed like a charity event. I mainly play Fiddlesticks, I'd like to think I'm pretty good with him too. I play Morgana, Heimerdinger, Nocturne, Yorick, Cho Gath and Alistar to a lesser extent as well. Add me/invite me to games if you want.

A pure Atk Spd steroid that has a 1s Cast Time, long CD, and no other special effects vs:

    1) Movement + 80% Atk spd + -1s CD per auto + scaling CDR
    2) Atk + Move Speed that refreshes on kills and prevents slows
    3) Aura Atk + Move speed boost that lasts a long time
    4) Atk + Move Spd boost that has near 100% uptime
    5) Duo Atk + Move Speed slow that has over 100% uptime
    6) Passive Atk spd boost + Active double up and -1s CD per auto on all other skills
    7) Passive Atk spd boost + Spell shield for double

In terms of raw number, she has the highest. In terms of actual good use? Not a chance.

She's powerful, but the time it takes her to reach that power is significantly higher than all the other power carries. During that time, her given utility can't compete with other utility carries nor are her spells strong enough to match skill carries.

And actually, she doesn't naturally outdamage Kog or Graves.

Great range means nearly nothing without good pokes or strong consistent damage to make up for it, especially when most gap closers are at 650 pixels. Q steroid requires greater farm for effectiveness than other carries, while also forcing you to wait on increasing your escape and early game burst to max it. If using the ultimate for ganks or displacement, your range has little use because you're already behind enemy lines.

Graves has an almost same steroid with much greater survivability and burst damage. He also has better team utility other than just blowing enemy away while running.

Vayne has comparable natural damage through timing proper Qs, has a better knock-back than Trist, and has far greater steroid combos in R+Q timing.

Kogmaw has superior range and CC. He also reveals targets, snipes, reduces Armor/MR reduces, and greatly slows the enemy without getting into melee range. While he doesn't have natural escapes, he'll melt the enemy long before they can close in, as long as he has vision.

Ashe and Cait aren't about raw damage. Ashe provides amazing utility through team slow, global initiation, and vision. Caitlyn has strong pokes, extreme lane harass, built-in mini-flash/slow, and traps to keep herself safe from ganks.

The only part that Trist truly outclasses every other carry is ultra-late game or if fed to extremes, but that will rarely happen in a real game.
