Fuck technicalities. If there's a contradiction between the movies and the books, the books are obviously going to be the thing I go with.

I also don't care what the majority of the fan base thinks, this is DLP. I very much doubt that there are many people here that consider the movies to be more authentic than the books.

My favorite scene in the seventh book was when Harry and Hermione were dancing.
Also the one where Voldemort exploded into ashes a little while after hugging Draco.

    Good stuff.

To add to that, Canon is what the author writes, this being the case of books. She didn't write the movies, so they're not canon. At least, that's how I see it.

I guess one could also view the movies as a kind of high-priced fanfiction.

I'm sort of appalled that anyone thinks the movies even approach the books in terms of canon relevancy. What goes down in the books might be annoying, it might not make sense, and we might want to change it, but that's our basis from which fanfiction is written.

Writing from the movies is nearly as bad as the few fanfics I've seen written from the goddamned video games. Harry went through the epic hallway adventure to get to DADA, where he fought a few rats, passed a puzzle quest involving blocks and flipendo, and jumped a gap filled with boggarts...

    Yea, that's canon.

They should have made the movies like that. Neville jumping over a pit filled with Snapes in dresses? That's gold right there.

The movies were garbage. The only people that like them are:
    14 years olds
People that saw the movies first, or haven't read the books
Those who don't realize every actor under 20 sucked.

The movies were created to pull younger fans and their parents in for money. If they cared whether fans would like them they would have made a TV show, produced 4 hour movies like LotR's did, or changed the ages so they didn't need to hire 10 year old actors for 10 years.

They just messed up, a billion dollar series before the movies even came out, they could have hired professionals.

But back to why Ron was amazed. Uncoordinated Quirrell caught the key. So it's pretty safe to assume, among Harry, Ron, and Hermoine, that Harry was going to be the one to catch it.

It's somewhat unrelated, but we don't necessarily know that Quirrell wouldn't be able to catch it by the same method. His persona was at least partly a facade, after all. That aside, while the trio may not have been able to summon it, what's to say that Quirrell couldn't have conjured a rope or something similar to essentially 'lasso' the key.

Yeah I thought of the fact that Quirrel really could have done anything else to get the key...

Voldemort would prolly just destroy them all with a really big avadra kadavra and then do the same to the door....

I don't think Avada Kedavra is quite that all-purpose.

I'm pretty sure that if you keep mouthing off after saying something stupid, you're going to eventually get banned.

It's mildly amusing to watch though, so continue if you like.

Iztiak that makes no sense, I have not mouthed off to anyone. Thank you for your interesting advice, I missed sarcasm in the rules.

(Yes, this comment could probably get my banned, but it's also the first time I have mouthed off. So NOW your points valid.

I have no power to do anything but supply my opinion. That being said: you're a fucking moron. You make inane comments that have absolutely no relevancy to a discussion, misspell simple words, and make basic punctuation errors. Then when someone calls you on it, within a forum know for its strict rules on literacy, you call yourself sarcastic and claim that's some defense for your stupidity.

It isn't. Shut the fuck up.

I may be poor at typing on my iPad, but your arguement was all about my spelling and punctuation. So why are my comment inane? Well, I have NEVER blamed my typos on sarcasm. So keep defending yourself on the forums "strict rules on literacy," while bashing me.

And in the mean time, opinion and rules are completely different. You also made punctuation errors, so lay off. Bitch
