Add a few years. Those are Part 1 ages. They're 34 and 35, respectively. And really, I've stopped looking for consistency in most any long running series - especially this one. Considering that Minato was undoubtedly only Hokage for a short time, and they probably only learned the technique to serve as his special guards, I highly doubt they learned the technique as children.

Still laughable though. And, if Tsunade is saying that they will save the Hiraishin to use on Mei... that means that not only does it take three people to use it, they can't even use it consecutively.

It seems, from the flashback, that Madara was the reason for the 1st Ninja World War, and for Datakim, 'bashing' Onoki's intelligence... Muu, his predecessor, is standing right next to him. They're both pretty stupid. The next panel, with the clashing sword and kunai, makes Madara look a lot less like a messenger and much more like an assassin, and in that regard, when Hashirama claimed he didn't know of Madara's plot, they probably called bullshit.

EDIT: Considering Kakashi's 'character', he probably knows the Hiraishin, but it doesn't fit his 'style', or maybe he's just not fast enough to use it adequately. I doubt anyone without reflexes at least on A's level could use it in battle.

Ok. Naruto is 16 in part 2. 35-16=19 and 34-16=18. And thats assuming that Minato taught the technique to those guys just before his death.

That whole sceme was a bit unclear to me, but even if using it exhausts the three guys, the technique could still be taught to many other people in Konoha. Instead it has never even been implied that anyone other than Minato would know FTG. And there have been so many times when a teleportation technique (even a nerfed one) would have been insanely usefull.

Umm, Madara was a hokage candidate that got rejected (probably common knowledge). And would a messenger from Hashirama get upset at the mere mention of his name. If Onoki&Muu started a war based on _nothing_ but the word of Madara, then yes they are indeed fools.

Nonsense. There are dozens upon dozens of cases where FTG would have been insanely usefull to Kakashi. And I don't mean in battle. Think about it for a moment. Imagine how our world would change, if a three man team could instantly teleport you to another continent and then teleport you back home a bit later. Imagine the benefits of trade and communication if you had teleport stations in every village with three shinobi, allowing the people of Konoha to quite literally visit a dozen different villages eacy day. Information would no longer need to rely on messengers but could be transported instantly. And so on.

Who cares about combat. The economical and logistical benefits from instant teleportation are staggering.

And its not like its useless in battle either. For example, in the Wave mission, Kakashi could have requested backup (maybe via FTG), and then several ANBU would teleport to the wave village to take down Zabuza.

Just think for a moment how teleportation would change OUR lives. No more cars, airplanes, trains and so on. Just go to a teleport booth, where three people would instantly transport you anywhere you wanted to go in an instant.

Do we know anything about the range of FTG? Obviously nothing has been firmly established, but a lot of the suggestions here seem to assume it could be used to teleport hundreds or thousands of miles. I don't think we've ever seen Minato use it to go anywhere near that far in canon, and it doesn't seem implausible to me that it might have a range of "only" a dozen miles or so.

How far was Mei from the battlefield with Gaara&co? Presumably not all that close so the range is probably pretty large.

And even if its only a couple of miles, you could just build teleport-stations a few miles from konoha, so from Konoha to teleport booth to destination. While maintaing something like that would carry a cost, that cost would easily be covered by the incredible advantages of instant teleporation all over the world

About FTG, we still don't know how exactly it works. Maybe you need a master seal for it and these guys have only a copy of it that Minato gave them to use if needed, but after he died nobody could recreate the whole thing? That's one of the possible explanation why nobody else can use FTG.

This teleportation issue raises the question of why nobody invented guns, when ninjas clearly possess the ability to breathe out large quantities of gunpowder (i.e. Ash Pile Burning). They have computers and air conditioners, but not even muskets. If Kishi followed logical thinking, a very common scenario for shinobi would be the following: I'll see your kunai and raise you a minigun.

Edit: In case someone didn't get it, I'm being facetious. Naruto would be a boring manga if ninjas teleported everywhere all the time. Kishi has basically just ignored common sense in a lot of things. That's partially why it makes for enjoyable fiction.

I don't think guns would be terrible useful in ninja battles. When it comes to long rage fights - jutsu>>>guns. That said they should exist considering level of technology in Naruto's world.

Still, I'd rather be packing a Desert Eagle than a bloody ninja star.

Put a gun in the hands of a farmer and suddenly he has the power to kill shinobi and samurai alike.

I like to think that the Kage and Daimyo of the EC have an understanding regarding development of certain weapons that'd upset the balance of power and the advantage that their trained military have over the people.

Madara reminds me totally of a Sayian from DBZ. So very badass.

You would think if he taught it to anyone he would have taught Kakashi and Jiraiya. his prodigy and teacher either one of which could teach it to Naruto. You would think if Gemma and a couple idiot nobody could learn it Kakashi and Jiraiya's sheer talent, talent, and insane knowledge of ninjustu would allow them to learn it. Not to mention THE GOD OF SHINOBI!!! epic fail on this.

Other than that I liked the chapter.

They have guns though. There's a store owner with one in the wave arc. They're relatively useless because ninja are so godly. You've got to aim and shoot a gun...there might only be a handful of ninja fast enough to outrun a bullet, but any of them can move faster than the farmer dude aiming it at them. And some have chakra shields.

Did it say that Genma knew it? I thought it just referenced his squad and that he could place the marker, for all we know he could've been given it before hand as a "in case" thing... May be wrong though.

And I'd rather be packing a Water Dragon or even just the Grand Fireball than a Desert Eagle.

Chapter was good enough that I'm a bit annoyed there's not supposed to be one next week. Anytime Naruto actually leaves me wanting more, it's worth noting.

Looks to me like the five Kage have Edo Madara under control.

Tobi's expression is priceless, and it looks like that troll mask might be coming off right away.

When Naruto calls Tobi out it will be amusing because Sasuke will have his world shattered again.

I was kinda hoping Naruto, would you know, do something at least this week? But he was just in the background.

I liked the low level nin in the beginning - "I get the feeling I'm not supposed to be here."

Honestly, I'm kind of indifferent to a battle that would have had me slavering at the mouth a few years ago. All five current Kage vs. Uchiha Madara? Hell yes. Now? Meh. Orochimaru and Hiruzen had massive bags of tricks. So did Jiraiya and Pein. All the Kage are one-trick ponies, essentially. Anyone else wondering what happened to taijutsu and genjutsu? Shuriken and kunai? It's just massive attack meets massive defense. Over and over again. What is this, Bleach?
