I'm sure Rockstar said that all the previous protagonists from the other GTAs were dead by the time IV came out.

Dead or not, I didn't really care for San Andreas. I'm not really interested in some wannabee gangster assholes shootin' each other up over stupid territory issues. That shit bored the crap out of me.

I think they stop being wannabe's when they actually start shooting each other. It's not like the gang portions took long to get through, other than ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN, CJ!

Wasn't it inferred by Ken Rosenberg that Tommy was dead when he was speaking to CJ? CJ doesn't know what the fuck Rosenber is on about, but the lawyer makes a comment along the lines of "just like old times, ey Tommy?"

For some reason after playing SA I was just left with the impression that Tommy was dead .

Fuck your flight school. That shit was annoying as fuck since you needed to pass it to proceed...
I thought it was stated 4 was a "reboot" of the series in that the previous games never happened.

So thus. GTA3 era games(3, VC, SA)

    and now GTA4 era (4, 5)

I remember him trying to call Tommy and being blocked by someone on the other end who said that Tommy didn't want to talk to him.

I also remember Ken being high as fuck on cocaine in pretty much all his appearances in San Andreas. The "just like old times" thing was probably Ken thinking CJ was Tommy because they were in an intense shootout at the time and he was having some kind of flashback.

Hmmm...perhaps I need to play SA again, to fact check, that is.

You guys know of any sources regarding continuinity of the series off the top of your heads?

After the 8th time I just got off the bike and set him on fire. It soothed me.

Every single time, I was driving right besides the stupid train, and that fucker wasn't even firing.
And then he blamed me when we failed, because the fucker can't shoot.
    Fuck. That. Shit.

For some reason I never had that issue with the mission. It actually seemed quite reasonable.

The flight school on the other hand, that thing almost made me quit SA. I took about a 3-4month hiatus away from the game because I could not pass the damn thing. When I came back I barely managed to get the times needed but that was probably the worst part of the game.

Took me a few hours, if I remember it right. Then again, I kick ass with planes.

Flight school wasn't that hard. You wanna know a hard one? That fucking Zero guy's remote control plane missions where you had to shoot the couriers. I never finished that one, and I'm bloody thankful it wasn't a main story mission.

Never had any problems with Flight school.
Was never much of a car driver though. I hated the car chase sequences.

Exactly same thing here. I got so annoyed that I quit playing the game for a month or two.

Also, that fucking mission where you have to chase a running plane on a bike. I mean, it was cool and all, but god-dammit it was so hard. IIRC, I used a cheat to slow down the game speed to complete that one.

I went through GTA:SA again a couple of months back and all those missions that were nearly impossible (The train, Flight school and Zero's RC missions) weren't that hard. I'd say I had more problems with some of the missions on GTA 4 than those.

That said, first time they were so fucking annoying.

Meh, that's the GTA syndrome. Every GTA game I've played had a hard-ass mission. But put it down and come back to it in a month and it doesn't feel anywhere near as hard.

QFT. Though could be applied to just about any game. It seems like when you don't care as much, things become easier. Wonder if that holds true for exams...
