    Except with an actual quest list... Most of my early quests got lost because i didn't want to check 50 odd pages to re-read what I had to do.

    This. Definitely this. I fucking HATE the UI! Whoever created this did a piss-poor planning job. This is why most "ported" games from Consoles are fucking abysmal in certain areas. Lazy assholes.

    Oh, awesome! I can't wait for this guy to release his mod! He did an excellent job with Oblivion's interface. It actually told you the percentages in the pages on how far you advanced into the bar. And changed a lot of other shit, too.

    I agree with you on that one. Morrowind's journal was pretty nifty. It usually gave you enough clues to figure out where you had to go to find the quest location. Some quests didn't give you enough info.

    Edit: Just read that article the guy wrote about the UI in Skyrim, and roughly 90% of the responses were "the UI is a sack of shit". I really, really hope DarN does something, soon!

    Thanks.

    Dude, I seriously considered not completing the Thieves' Guild quest line. I did not want to give back the Skeleton Key.

    Also, Nocturnal is hot.

    That's because it was made for a console. Which is why I bought it for a console. I'll wait until there are a few decent mods before I get it for the PC.

    Some other complaints I've had:

    - Shadows look ugly as shit, even on my high-enough end PC on Ultra settings. They're all blocky and funny looking.

    - Dark Elves have these ugly bags and wrinkles on their faces that can't be removed. Also the face textures for pretty much all races are a little blocky up-close.

    - I've yet to find clothing that really seems fitting for cold and snowy weather. Half the armors barely cover you entirely, and none seem to have full sleeves except for the Fur armor -- at least that I know of. I know the Nords are hardy and all, but it'd be more aesthetically pleasing if there were some heavier clothing and such befitting of the setting. Particularly cloaks. I think they're plenty capable of putting working cloaks into the game by now, they have those flags waving around in places and the principles don't seem too different to me.

    - I'd like for there to be a hand-and-a-half sword type. Greatswords are too big, slow, and I don't really want to use a sword and shield, though that's what I've been living with insofar (along with a bow). I want something like Aragorn's sword in the Lord of the Rings movies that balances speed and power.

    - Fast travel. I don't like it being there, even if it is optional. I'd prefer they bring back the Morrowind style with ferries and Silt Striders and whatnot and leave it at that.

    Ugh, are you kidding me? I hate walking over a path that I've walked over 80% of nine or ten times already and know everything there is to find there backwards and forwards. I'll explore the 20% I don't know and then fast travel the rest.

    Still, people who use Fast travel when there are paths between your two points that are unexplored and not out of the way are missing out on a shitload, this is true.

    And they honestly should have made a different version for the PC, instead of just porting it. That in itself is just lazy assholes. Porting it is a horrible idea.

    Editing the SkyrimPrefs.ini in My Games\Skyrim folder fixes shadows for me. Appearance wise at least, performance wise it still sucks. Pretty sure the launcher will overwrite these settings occasionally. I just start the launcher, delete SkyrimPrefs.ini, copy in the .ini I want, then play. Shadows look pretty decent but I have to turn the outside shadow distance way down to like 1000. Actually, I think I remember hearing that for whatever reason the shorter the shadow distance the better looking the shadows are.

    iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=4096
    iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=4096
    iShadowMapResolution=4096

    As far as the face problems, check out some of these mods.

    Also, I made a mod to make respeccing perks more convenient if anyone is looking for something like that. It's not perfect, but it works for me until someone comes up with something better.

    I'll pass on editing the .ini files and just wait for a patch or something. Thanks for the recommendations though.

    Believe me, you'll want to at least edit some things. You can make a crapton of stuff look better, game run better, and else.

    Here's a link to an article on PC Gamer which explains how to do everything.

    Also, here's a mod which makes your game run much, much better. For some reason, I was having FPS problems at all medium, even though my rig should be able to handle Ultra without problems. Just download that file, stick it in your Skyrim folder, and you'll gain up to 30+ FPS boost.

    Thanks for the link on tweaks Arbiter, I'll try them out. The mod, however, didn't really help all that much. Hopefully disabling VSync will solve the lag problem I'm getting.

    Game still looks amazing, even on everything low. I suggest you set everything to minimum and then up the settings from there.

    I love how people didn't see the Blocky Face texture fix and face improvement mods I put up way before.

    Just saying.

    @Arbiter, I am running on low. ;_;

    The game actually recommended Medium, but the lag made it unplayable. Haven't got around to testing it with VSync disabled yet, hopefully that'll help.

    @Lutris, I saw them. I'm seeing if the fixes work, then I'll put in the better body mod.

    Yay.

    Anyway, how much memory you got? Large Address Aware in my post is real useful if you've got more than 2GB and want to use it. Made Whiterun not lag at all for my system on Ultra, when it used to go from 60fps in Dragonsreach to something like 20fps once I got into town.

    Of course, I have a fuckton of RAM, but the idea applies.

    4 GB, and I already applied that. Didn't make much of a difference.

    Also, the VSync fix seems to have done wonders. I haven't gotten into an actual combat situation so I'm not sure if the engine will still work then (it became unplayable the last time I was in a big battle) but so far it's doing pretty great - lag and low fps is gone. My only issue is about the snow, specifically in Winterhold. I have a feeling it's slowing my system down, since in Winterhold the performance is a touch lower than in, say, Riverwood. Anybody know a .ini tweak or something for that?

    Lutris, downloading the body mods now. Thanks again for the link.

    Most people are in the same boat. I was pleasantly surprised that Skyrim even worked in the first place - I kinda didn't expect it to as I have trouble running World of Warcraft even on minimum settings. So, what a shock it was to me when I could run Skyrim with medium settings on my two year old 13" screen laptop-netbook.

    And LOL at this:

    I have 12GB, had a clearly noticeable performance improvement.

    Did you forget to tick the box when running the installer? >_>

    Huh, I have 4 gigs of RAM and the game runs like a dream on Ultra. Haven't experienced a single case of noticeable lag.

    I hope some more interesting mods start to get made soon. For instance, I want to be able to make my own Skyforge steel weapons and armour using the Skyforge if I get my smithing skill high enough.
