    Introduction

Oh no, bad guys are here! Let's deal with bad guys by killing people.

Warlock Hunt is a game in which the Innocent majority tries to root out the Witch minority that is hidden among them. Everyday, the entire town - witches and innocents alike - discuss matters, and eventually, by majority vote select a target to Lynch, in an effort to kill all the witches. Each Night, the Witches plot, and select a target to Nightkill by plurality vote... and the Angels select a target to Protect, also by plurality vote. In all votes, you may vote to target yourself, or not to do anything - both are treated as normal ballot options. When only one side remains, or is logically certain to eliminate all opposition, that side wins.

When a player survives a kill attempt, the attempt on their life is revealed, but the cause of their survival is not. Furthermore, neither role nor faction alignment of a player is revealed on death.

Oh, and also ... there's a Rogue Warlock ready to destroy everyone if you let slip too much information!

    The Roles

    The Town

The Town wins when all anti-town factions are dead

    Priest:
    Abilities
    - Each Night, check the Allignment of a player
    - You visit the player you check
    Acolyte:
    Abilities
    - You know the identity of the Priest OR the Mad Scientist
    - The Priest/Mad Scientist are not informed whether or not they have an Acolyte
    Spiritualist:
    Abilities
    - You are informed of the Angel's Protection target.
    Judge:
    Abilities
    - If the Lynch vote is deadlocked or no-lynch, you may determine the Lynch target. A Judge Lynch will kill the Enchantress. For the purposes of Necromancer/Detective, this counts as a Day Kill.
    Vigilante:
    Abilities
    - You may Kill a target at Night if there were two consecutive mislynches (on consecutive days). After a possible Vigilante Kill (whether used or not), the mislynch counter resets to zero.
    - You visit the player you choose to kill
    Martyr:
    Abilities
    - You may die to Save any player from death. This includes players who die to lynches, but does NOT include the Desperado in a Desperado Lynch or the target of a Successful Soulsteal.
    - You receive a list of all players who are going to die each night
    Desperado:
    Abilities
    - You may die to immediately determine the Lynch target, so long as a majority has not been reached. This will kill the Rogue Warlock unless he has immunity to death from a successful Soulsteal.
    Dancer:
    Abilities
    - At Night, you may Dance to inform all players the next Day that 'the Dancer Danced'.
    Mad Scientist:
    Abilities
    - Each Night, you may select two people and find out if they are on the same faction or not. You can't select yourself, dead players, or someone you have previously selected.
    - You visit both players you check
    - You still get results even if one of your chosen targets dies
Note: If you check a Witch and a Warlock, the result is DIFFERENT

    Survivalist:
    Abilities
    - You survive the your first death, unless it is caused by a Soulsteal.
    Cupid:
    Abilities
    - You cannot die (except to the DoB & Enchantress Special Kill) during the Night Phase while both lovers are alive.
    - Once per game at night, you may check if both lovers are alive (but you do not find out their identities). If both lovers are alive, you visit them. If one or both are dead, no visit occurs.
    Detective:
    Abilities
    - You learn the Roles of all players killed during the day. You always find out who the DoB kills, even though it happens at night.
    - You get your info at the end of the phase a person died in.
    Mailman:
    Abilities
-At the start of each night, select a player. That player must write a message of up to 200 words to to be delivered to a player of their choice at the end of night. You learn who you are delivering the message to, but not the contents of the message.
    - Neither the Sender nor the Recipient is told the identity of the Mailman. The Recipient is not told who the letter is from.
    - You visit both the Sender and the Recipient of the letter.
    Dirty Old Bastard:
    Abilities
    - When you die, you may select a player to be Killed the following Night Phase. This will kill the Warlock unless he has death immunity from a successful Soulsteal.
    - You must select your kill target at the same time as your death
    Daredevil:
    Abilities
    - You have a variety of oneshot abilities, but using any of them makes you visit the NK target(s) for that night
    1. Tonight, the Illusionsit's switch ability will not work. They are not informed of this power failure.
    2. Tonight, you can't die.
    3. Tomorrow, if you use a power, you do not visit the NK target.
    4. Tonight, the Necromancer will not get info.
    5. Name a Witch role. You are informed if that role was dead or alive at the start of night.
    6. Pick a player other than yourself. Tomorrow night, that player must make a kill. You do not visit the person you grant a kill to.
    7. Tonight, if the Witches try to perform a special kill, they will do a regular kill instead. This does not use up their 1 shot special kill.
    Psychiatrist:
    Abilities
    - Once per day, choose a player to "diagnose." You will be informed whether that target is crazy.
    - The following roles check as crazy: Survivalist, Daredevil, Desperado, Dirty Old Bastard, Vigilante, Mailman, Rogue Warlock, Demon and Necromancer
Since this is a daytime action, this check bypasses the Mayor's check protection
    The Coven

The Witches win when all Townies and the Warlocks are dead or nothing can prevent that from happening.

All live players in the Coven share a QT.

Each Night, the Witches vote for another Witch to make the Night Kill. The chosen Witch then picks a player to Kill. At this time, they may choose to use their unique, one-shot Special Kill instead of regular Night Kill. The Witch that is chosen to make the Night Kill visits the kill target (or targets in the case of the Occultist Special Kill).

    Demon:
    Abilities
    - You are informed of the Priest's Check target and it's result.
    - If the Priest does not make a check, you may make a check instead (Use this to hunt the Warlock)
    - You visit the player you check.
    - Demon Special Kill: All players that visit your NK target tonight are killed. This effect happens even if your NK target does not die.
    Occultist:
    Abilities
    - You are informed of the Angel's Protection target.
    - Occultist Special Kill: You may kill two players tonight. You may instead choose to kill only one player, but have the kill Pierce Angel Protection.
    Enchantress:
    Abilities
    - At the start of the game, select two Lovers, who must not be Witches. You cannot be Lynched or killed by the Vigilante while both lovers are alive.
    - Lovers recieve a private QT to discuss things. If either Lover is lynched, both of them die.
    - Enchantress Special Kill: This kill pierces all protections except protection granted to the Warlock after a successful Soulsteal.
Note: If one of the Lovers is on the Warlock Faction, the non-Warlock lover joins the Warlocks!

    Necromancer:
    Abilities
    - You are told the roles of all players who die in the Night.
    - Necromancer Special Kill: If your special kill target dies, you steal their power. If they are saved by the Martyr, you steal their power even though they did not die.
Note: If you steal the powers of the Thrall you gain the Thrall powers + their townie powers, but you do not provide protection for the Rogue Warlock nor do you find out their identity.

    Illusionist:
    Abilities
    - Pick two players (you may not pick yourself). All night actions targetting them are swapped.
    - You visit both players you swap.
    - Illusionist Special Kill: You learn the role of the player you target for this kill. You may switch your kill to a different player.
    The Warlocks

The Warlocks win when the Witches and all Townies are dead

    The Rogue Warlock
    Abilities
    - You can use Soulsteal. To Soulsteal, you must publicly declare in thread a player and a role. If they match, that player dies (extra lives do not stop this) and you are immune to all forms of death until the next day. A successful Soulsteal also grants the Warlocks one Soulless Zombie.
    - A soulsteal attempt looks like this: I Soulsteal Billy the Acolyte
    - Each night, you may send an anonymous message of up to 200 words to a living player. You visit the player you message. This message looks the same as a Mailman message to the Recipient.
    Note:
    1. To avoid possible timing-abuses, I reserve the right to delay a lynch until the Rogue Warlock has had a chance to attempt a Soulsteal.
    2. After the Rogue Warlock is publicly revealed, he has to attempt a soulsteal in the first 28 hours of each day, or lose the opportunity to do so that day.
    3. The Warlock is permitted to fake a Soulsteal attempt if he has not successfully done so this game - this is to prevent degenerate strategies like "Eager Cadet claims, everyone tries to Soulsteal him!".
    4. You may soulsteal a pair of players as 'The Lovers'. If this Soulsteal is successful, the Lovers die and you gain two soulless Zombies (but all other effects from a successful Soulsteal are the same).
    5. You may only attempt to Soulsteal once each day.

    The Thrall
    Abilities
    - While you are alive, the Rogue Warlock can't be lynched and has protection.
    - You gain the abilities of the first player to die. The Nercomancer/Detective does not find out the role you gain. If you gain the powers of a Witch, you gain ONLY their regular powers, and not the ability to make a night-kill (or their unique one-shot special kill).
    - At the start of each day, you find out how many dead players were Witches.
    - When you die, The Rogue Warlock finds out the Witch roles that are dead.
    - If there is only one other player left (Thrall + One other player) in the game at the start of a day phase, you instantly win.
    Soulless Zombies

Note: The Soulless Zombie is not a playable role

A Soulless Zombie is an extra one-shot vote that can be used by the Rogue Warlock or the Thrall. A Soulless Zombie vote must be declared publicly in the thread by the Rogue Warlock. If the Rogue Warlock is dead, then the Thrall may make a Soulless Zombie vote anonymously via his QT. A Soulless Zombie's vote target is decided by the Rogue Warlock or Thrall, and may not be changed after it is used. Each Soulless Zombie can only be used once.

A Soulless Zombie is gained whenever a Soulsteal is successful.

    The Mechanics

Day Phases & Lynch Voting: The default Day Phase length is 72 hours.

    • a Deadline vote, where your lynch vote will be counted at the end of the day.
    • a Standard vote, where your lynch vote is counted immediately.

To cast a Deadline vote, say: Deadline: Player
To cast a Standard vote, say: Lynch: Player
To cast a No Lynch vote, say: No Lynch

These are guidlines only, you may vote for lynches differently, but there is no gurantee that the game moderator will accept your vote

You can rescind or change a Deadline vote at any time before the end of the Day Phase. You can do the same for a Standard vote at any time before a Majority Lynch is reached. Day phase ends once a Majority Lynch is reached.

Night Phases last for up to 48 hours. Night will end once all players (regardless of whether they have a night action) post in their QT and all night actions are resolved.

Mayor: On Day 1 (and only Day 1), someone must be elected as the Mayor! Before a Mayor is elected, nobody can die to a Lynch! This is a majority vote, but if no majority is met by the normal end of the day, day will be extended by 24 hours. If nobody has been elected Mayor by the end of that extra period, the person with the highest amount of votes becomes Mayor. Because the Mayor sleeps in a high security Villa, he returns 'BLOCKED' to all checks (but still is affected by night kills for some reason).

Once per game, at any time during a Night Phase, the Mayor may choose to do one of the following (all of these are self-targetable):
Guards: Grant a player an extra life (The Rogue Warlock does not benefit from Guards. Because he eats them).
    Lawyers: Check a player
Hitmen: Kill a player (Kills Enchantress, doesn't kill Cupid or Rogue Warlock or players with other types of protection (Angels). Detective gets the Death Info)

None of the Mayor powers result in a visit

Angels: Dead players become Angels. Each Night, the Angels decide by plurality vote to Protect a target player (random tiebreaks). "No Protect" is a valid vote (If "No Protect" is the majority, nobody will be protected by the Angels that night even if there are active votes for other people). The player that has Protection will not die to any kills that happen at Night unless it is specficially stated to bypass this protection.

Angels get the results of Priest and Mad Scientist checks at the end of each night. Angels are unable to give Protection when there are five or fewer living players.

Angels are given a QuickTalk to discuss in.

The Fallen: Dead Witches become Fallen. They have access to the regular Angel Chat, but also have another QT for dead witches to discuss in. Each night, The Fallen may guess the role of the protection target - If they are correct, the Angel protection is ineffective.

Lynching: Lynch voting is a non-compulsorily majority vote that takes place during each day phase. If no majority is reached, the Judge (if alive) may pick someone to lynch.

    FAQ

What can kill the Rogue Warlock?
    While the Thrall is alive:

    • Your lover being lynched
    • Desperado Lynch
    • DoB Kill
    • Enchantress Special Kill

    After a successful souldrain:

    • Nothing can kill you

If the thrall is dead, the warlock dies to things normally.

    -

What can kill the Enchantress while lovers are alive?

    • Judge Lynch
    • DoB Kill
    • Witch NK
    • Warlock Souldrain
    • Mayor's hitmen

    -

Can we tell the difference between the different types of kills? (lynch, lover lynch, souldrain, dob/assassin kill, night kills, etc)

    Sometimes!

The different types of lynches are obviously different (majority lynch, judge lynch, desperado lynch) due to circumstances behind it!

All kills that happen during the night look identical (Demon splash kill, occultist double kill, vigilante, dob, daredevil, etcetc).

    A lover lynch is obvious.

    A Souldrain is obvious.

    -

Can we tell how someone survived something that would normally kill them?

Nope! Everything that lets someone survive a death looks exactly the same, whether they survived by an extra life (survivalist, mayor's guards) or immunity to whatever should have killed them (Cupid, Enchantress, Rogue Warlock) or the Angels Protection.

    -

What can kill Cupid while the Lovers are alive?

    • Warlock Soulsteal
    • DoB Kill
    • Enchantress Special Kill
    • Lynches of any kind

    Etiquette

For the enjoyment of everyone, all players are encouraged to follow these guidelines:

    • Please do not lie about real-life commitments! E.g. "I can't post for the next two days, because my cat died," when you did not have any such cat. This sort of behavior is outside the scope of the game.
    • Similarly, if someone says he will not be available due to real-life constraints, it is polite to believe him.
    • For the avoidance of doubt, this is not a role-playing game.
    • Keep the game stuff and non-game stuff separate! Mixing these things leads to tragedy.
    • If you are unable to be active, you will be replaced. Please let me know in advance if this is likely to happen.
    • Be nice! We're all playing to have fun. Disparage someone's skill if you must, but please avoid personal insults!

    Rules

    • Only living players may post in the thread.
    • You may not privately communicate with anyone except the moderator unless specifically allowed (i.e. the QuickTopics for Witches and Angels.)
    • You may never edit posts in this thread or in any QuickTopics you may be posting in.
    • You may not quote private discussion (PM's or QuickTopics) in open chat, either automatically or manually.
    • You may not post in the game thread during the night phase
    • You are not only permitted to lie, you are encouraged to do so; you may claim any role at any time that you are allowed to discuss matters, and a good lie will almost certainly help your side!

    QuickTopic

QuickTopics will be used to facilitate communication between players and the moderator (me). Also, they are used to make discussion between aligned groups easier (Witches, Angels). You must be prepared to use a QuickTopic if you signup for Warlock Hunt. It is the only way Witches or Angels are allowed to communicate.

    Rules for QuickTopics

    • You must not share the URL of a QuickTopic with anybody else, whether they are in the game or not.
    • You must not edit a post you have made in a QuickTopic, for any reason.
    • If you have a shared Quicktopicu must not communicate in any way outside of the provided QuickTopic. This includes making a collaborative Google Docs spreadsheet.

"Hmm? Another free trip to the world's amusement parks?" Lutris paused. It seemed legit, but he'd found it difficult to look away from Sexy Nord's ass long enough to find the phone. "Looks like I'm going to have to turn you down."

I'm still digesting from feasting, but I thought I should at least post to say that I think that the Mayor title should go to someone less... significant? Not necessarily a completely new player, but also not somebody that is likely to lead the town too easily by their presence.
(or have the stigma of past games and get promptly killed be they innocent or guilty)

So... yeah. I'm not sure who would be the best candidate, considering, but that's my idea.

I'm waiting for more people to check in before talking about things further, since maybe someone else has bright ideas or whatever.

But in the meantime, as usual I support only giving Mayor to people who actively go for it.

Well, since the only people who have asked for it are the two people who I trust the least with the Mayor's powers...

I'm going to wait to see who else puts their hat into the ring. But as it stands now, I'm with Fen on this one. More of the less dominate veterans should step up like Necrule did.

In place of Jon and KaiDASH, who we both know that they are extremely hard to read as town/scum, I propose that we choose a more transparent mayor this time. In the interest of rooting out corruption, I therefore nominate myself as mayor of this town.

    Mayor Vote: Aekiel

Everyone who has played me before knows that I'm terrible at hiding any scumtells I have, so as I'm a pro-town role this time around I think that it could be a good decision to have me as mayor. It'll be obvious within a day or two that I am not scum, at least to the players who make accurate reads on roles and the likes, so if I'm lying (which I'm not, for once), it'll be obvious and you can happily lynch me.

    So how about it?

By now, everyone knows how I play, so I'm a reliable choice if you want to make sure the mayor actually lives in the town he's supposed to lead D8

I'm decent at strategising, won't hesitate to kick down Kai & co should they be with the witches and try to run the town with this "great" plans again, think I can use the additional power well, and feel like I'm a decent choice all around.

So, I nominate myself for mayor: Mayor Vote: Sesc

    Vote for Sesc for Mayor!

I like Fen's idea. Ideally we could get someone who's undoubtedly pro town, but the next best thing is someone we can keep an eye on. Not insignificant, but maybe not a leader type.

I'm holding off my vote for now, I want to see what everyone has to say.

    pot calling the kettle black,Aekiel.

I promise to lead the town to victory and prosperity. Also looking at the other competitors, I seem to be the best choice.

Jon's record speaks for himself. If he becomes mayor, everyone may blindly follow him like in WH!.

KaiDash is gonna get NK'ed/lynched soon anyway especially if he became Mayor.

Aekiel is always a scum even when he is a town.

tbh, I have nothing to say against Nercule. He may be the second best choice after me.

    So yeah, vote for me.
