Okay, so I'm trying to play the old, free version, but I keep having a problem. Any time I try to play it tells me I need java to play this. I thought I had java, but okay, I'll install it. It tells me that it "cannot proceed with the current internet connection settings," so I google that and it takes me to a help place. It tells me to either change my proxy, which I don't think I have, or to offline install. It also tells me that it might be a good idea to uninstall all old versions of java.

I do that and the second one and then go try to play minecraft. It tells me I need java. I think maybe I need to restart because I didn't do that after installing java, so I do. I get back to the page, and it tells me I need to install java.

Help me dlp, you're my only hope.

 

So people have been telling me minecraft is fun and addicting. I haven't decided yet if I should play it or not. What is minecraft about?

Went and took a look at how to set up my own SMP server today. Two bottles of beer and a mild headache later I've decided to leave it to someone else.

 

I know the feeling. While trying to set up a server for me and my friend, I wanted to rip my hair out.

Luckily, it's rather simple if you get Bukkit.

 

if anyone has a server, I've even gone back to playing Vanilla, which is a big deal....

 

I recently got the game together with three friends and we've been playing together some (LAN style). I do have to say it's fun and pretty addictive - you lose hours at some point.

The obvious answer to potter's question would have been "Mining and Crafting" though.

 

So I don't take it there's any chance of DLP minecrafts now that it's 1.0.0?

 

I've actually just started getting into the game! Only tried it out a few days ago, having fun in singleplayer so far and learning the ropes a bit. I'd love to play with you guys.
