Well, the fifth book in the Spice and Wolf light novel series was just released over here in the US and I'm curious if anyone else on DLP has been keeping up with the novels.

Now that volume 5 has been release in US we have moved past the portion of the series the two anime seasons covered (The first season was volumes 1 and 2 and the second season was volumes 3 and 5). Volume 4, released back in June over here, was never animated, probably because volume 5 was considered a better concluding arc for the season.

The novel series is now complete in Japan with 17 volumes and Yen Press has been releasing the novels in the US at a rate of two novels a year. I would love it if they could increase the number of novels they release per year, but two novels per year is already pretty awesome.

Own them all. Read them all. Whoro is damned cute.

Did I say Whoro? I meant Horo. :sherlock:

I've tried to watch the anime twice, but kept getting bored.

I probably will finish it eventually, but I think I just find Lawrence boring (and hence interactions with Horo). A very 'nothing' main character. At least, from what I've seen.

I just have to ask exactly how far you've gotten in the series so far, just because I'm assuming you haven't made it through the first six episodes or so if you still find Lawrence to be a nothing main character. While he certainly isn't the most interesting main character he does get fleshed out a lot more in the second arc of season 1 and all throughout season 2. I would say he is one of those characters that seems pretty boring at first until his character development really sets in.

Yeah, you're spot on. Tried watching it with mates once. Forced ourselves through around 4 eps and then dropped it. But I will give it another go. =)
