    In my opinion Rarity seems to have the best singing voice of the ponies.

    Because the creators of MLP actually care about its fanbase (unlike other fandoms), Derpy was a fanon creation who was promoted to canon in Season 2. Some official sources will call her "Ditzy Doo", though. I prefer calling her "Derpy"

    She was originally just a background pony in the pilot episode, in the background during the welcoming party Pinky held for Twilight.

    lrn2brony bro.

    Although I suppose that you could say she didn't really exist as a character until later on in the first Season after fan recognition, and not merely as a mob background placeholder pony. Still. Not entirely a fan creation.

    Yes, I know; I knew that Derpy was a background pony in the pilot. What I meant was that her main characteristics were largely conceived through fanon, and the creators chose to acknowledge fanon by including her in Season 2 as a canon character - with the fanon eyes and personality. Gotta love it with fanon because canon like this. =3

    I like it overall, but I'm a little confused as to exactly how dragons grow now. Do they just stop naturally growing at around Spike's age and from there only grow if they indulge their hoarding tendencies, or what? Also, he never grew wings.

    I was actually kind of hoping that he'd stay at a semi-grown level in the end. Like a Charmeleon compared to a Charmander.

    Beaten to the punch posting the new episode.

    If I had to theorize on how MLP dragons grow, I would guess that hoarding is more of a massive growth accelerator. As long as he doesn't get greedy, he'll grow up at a much more normal rate.

    Really liked the episode; the humor was good, and it really felt like they were taking advantage of the setting, expanding their universe, and drawing on a bit more continuity. That's probably the thing I like most about season 2 so far; the first season was mostly spent establishing and developing the main characters and how they interact with each other, while this season's really fleshing out the setting a bit more.

    Also, the shippers are going to have a field day with this episode.

    So those previous dragons we've seen, the fully grown ones... they might not be very old at all. Spike's only in his early teens at the very most (if we consider that Twilight was about eight or so when she hatched him, and now she's about twenty, give or take -- I figure they call him a "baby" dragon in relation to a long dragon life expectancy, and also because he's tiny), and he grew to be just as huge within a one day. They had wings, though, and maybe it's the wings that are a better indicator for dragon age than size.

    My biggest complaint with the episode is how Spike just sort of "popped" back to his normal size. Going along with how I sort of wish he would have a permanent new look at the end, I'd have rather had him remain huge after his little epiphany, just returned to normal mentally. Then have Twilight -- or maybe Celestia would be a better choice -- shrink him to a more manageable size while retaining a few more mature features.

    Oh well.

    Really did not like this episode at all. Not a fan of this new explanation for dragon-aging, and the shipping is going to rile up the fandom a lot. :sherlock:
