Dex and Deb wont get together, not a chance.

I think that Debra will find out about Dexter in the next episode. They have really been pushing how much Debra cares about him, combine that with him saving her life and having sexual feelings and you have rapid acceptance of Dexter's dark passenger.

My main beef with the explanation is when the shrink says "Deb is going for unavailable men because they're not Dexter", I think "or maybe Dexter is another one of those men and she has a deeper problem."

More importantly, we learned that Deb is willing to to cover up for people she cares about or at the very least, she was heavily considering doing it. If she learns about Dexter, which I do believe will not happen in this season, especially if they have two more, there is now the great possibility that Deb would try to keep Dexter's secret.

But I find it still difficult to predict her actions, which is what makes it so interesting. I can see it going either way, Dexter contemplating what he should do with his son if he gets arrested, especially since there is the possibility that he has a Dark Passenger too while Deb gets torn apart from the reveal, especially since she depends more and more on Dexter with each season or Deb trying to cover up for Dexter while the knowledge that her brother is a killer who pretty much gets off from killing completely destroys her.

Either way, it will probably end with a mentally broken Deb.

I am reasonably sure it will not boil down on a Dexter on the run from the police, since that would mean it's just a matter of time before he gets captured.

 

Spoilers are not really necessary for predictions in my opinion. I do agree with you though on your last point, he is never going to become a wanted man.

 

On the run should have been done with Brian at the end of Season 1. I wish I would read that in a fanfic someday.

I've heard the same thing. Apparently the books incorporate some supernatural aspects, of which the "Dark Passenger" is one. I prefer the reality of the TV series, which doesn't rely on mystical explanations for Dexter being a serial killer.

That makes me patently not interested in reading the novels. I don't want to risk them spoiling my enjoyment of the show.

 

I really enjoyed the first book. The first season is extremely faithful to it. And it gives you that feeling only inspired in books, like you are actually seeing every line of thought in Dexter's head. It really maximizes how difficult it is for him to actually integrate with society having no social compass of his own. It's a chilling perspective, and I think more so than in the series (even though the series certainly does do a good job on its own).

And I agree- the Dark Passenger is much more interesting as a flawed psyche than some sort of possession. Maybe I'd feel differently if I had read the books before the series but now it just seems like a cop out for his behavior, making it less creepy. Seeing as I don't believe in some god from biblical times, but I could be convinced of a severe psychological trauma causing someone to go ape-shit.

Yeah the constant mentioning of his dark passenger this season has been bugging me too. He almost never referred to it and then this season has referred to it multiple times almost every episode.

Should have happened last season, in that basement, but okay. This'll do for now. Utterly assholish, leaving it where they did, though.

Uneven season, overall. Least interesting season arc, by far. A serious number of plotholes and ridiculousness. And, with the whole taboo thing, Deb seems simultaneously more interesting, and yet a much weaker character (I have a shitty taste in lovers cause I want my father/brother to fuck me? Seriously?). Biggest regret these guys should have is wasting Adama on that thinly baked religious bullshit (did that girl who was set free hear two set of voices?).

Still, the long awaited discovery will probably pull me in for another season.

 

I also said that if they reveal it too early, then it'll feel like the show has jumped the shark. I guess we'll find out next year.

 

Seriously didn't think they would do this when they still have two seasons left, can't see Deb lasting that long with this knowledge...not that Dexter would kill her but rather that this will destroy her.

Just as she put everything on Dexter, this happens. Shit. Really want to see what happens next. Is it really a year until the next episode?

 

I mean are we seriously considering Dexter is going to tell her everything? If nothing else we know Dexter spins a hell of a story. If I recall correctly, no one knows how Dexter actually killed his victims from the BHB cases, they only found his disposal method (maybe the wound to the chest but that's a broad net). Deb will freak out for a bit, but between her facing that realization with Mathews that not every crime is truly punishable, falling in love with Dexter, and hating the holy shit out of Travis then there is a strong possibility they make it through this relatively unmarred. Hell I'd put not too long of odds that Deb helps him get away with it. Hopefully Dexter doesn't try and dispose of them via the usual manner though.

True, but still, Deb goes from "my brother is the best and I can trust him to NEVER, EVER let me down" to "he just ritualistically killed someone exactly the way his brother tried to kill her".

That needs one hell of an explanation that Deb would buy.

 

I don't think she remembers how Brian tried to kill her. Atleast she was heavily drugged and doesn't remember Dexter's intervention. I can't remember if she knows how she was tied up with plastic and whatnot. If that is so... well that's gonna be a bit tricky.
