See here's where I have to disagree. I think I spent all of a week lurking here before I started posting and starting threads (in this very section I might add) but I didn't come in with an ass attitude. I got the feedback I wanted, the members were helpful and no one was a smarmy ass. And it doesn't help that he's asking for something that doesn't exist.

 

DLP isn't half as bad as I thought it would be. Sure, people catch hell for stupid posts, threads etc, but if you exercise a bit of common sense and read the rules then it's easy to avoid getting reamed.

Ignoring that, doesn't the welcome PM tell you to have a thick skin?

 

Before this turns into another "I love DLP"-fest and everyone starts gushing from their vaginas, have some fic recs. None of these fit your description perfectly, but they all match some aspect of it.

There's another fic that fits your specification best but I can't remember what it's called right now. I think it began with an A. It was about a Harry who had never gone to Hogwarts, was schooled in the Muggle world, and was then approached by wizards in his late teens. He took magic lessons with Lupin while also founding a business that specialised in - you'll never guess - mixing magic and technology.

 

I believe the one you're thinking of is All at Once by Aurilia.

 

Something similar to what you need would be Better Living Through Chemistry, and it's revised, longer version - both are parts of Rorschach's Blot's Odd Ideas.

 

My own very vague contribution to the search.

I don't have the links and I don't have the time to look them up, but here are some tips:

- A story written by an author with Platypus in his name (I believe agent Perry the Platypus or something, but not sure) about a technomancer Harry thart builds a succesful -you might guess it- business based on technomancer magic. Pairing also includes Fleur and/or Gabrielle. Something of an Indy!Harry fic.

- One of Esama's stories, a slight Stargate Crossover, where a young Harry Potter starts an enterprise, cooperating with the Flamels. I don't remember much, except that he goes to Hogwarts as an eleven or twelve year old observer instead of a student, starts selling his stuff there and teaches them all about his wicked self-developed, ancient based magic.

- Even vaguer: Harry creating a business out of selling electronics warded against magical interference. I believe this concept has been used in multiple fics, but there is one that specifically focuses on this. In the story I am thinking of, Harry bases his spells on something he found in Lily's diary.

Be warned: I am not saying any of these stories are good, just that they fit the search criteria closely...

 

there's also Disillusion. Harry is trained by the Ministry, kills Voldemort, then stuff happens. Again, this is by Esama, but I don't think the Flamels play a part. This is the 'magiparticle' one.

 

Oh god. This was so bad. But it was so fun to read the first time around. LOL. It's the 'can't look away from a bad car crash' type of thing.

I've read this probably ten times since it was posted, and I laugh out loud every time. Pure internet gold right there.

Still, in the interest of fairness to Pippy Longstocking here, I'll put forth the only example of a truly industrious, inventive, and dedicated Harry, with the added bonus that he also creates his own society, albeit unintentionally and mainly as a result of the main plot point.

Yes, you'll have to endure a tiny bit of... let's call it "mature" content... sprinkled throughout, but hey, we're all adults here, right? In any case, it definitely fits what you're after.

Also another one Harry travels back to his younger self, his parents are alive, his got a younger brother and sister, Lily is in a coma, James is an auror and fucks off for work once Lily is in a coma and leaves the kids to some stranger.

Harry is an inventor and major businessman in this story, masquerading as an adult to run the company. Can't remember how decent it was, or its name. Though I think he went underneath the name of Janus when running the company. Oh and Lupin worked underneath him. If your really interested, you should be able to find it with some google searches.

EDIT: After reading page 2/2 of this friend and not just page one, the story I just posted was recommended by Taure, the Warlord one.

Harry_Potter_Happily_Ever_After and its sequel Harry_Potter_The_New_Marauders seem to meet your criteria.

I read them a few years ago, before they were deleted and reposted, so I can't vouch for their quality. From what I recall, the writing is technically competent. But when he titled the first one "Happily Ever After" he damn well meant it. If 1.5 million words with no discernible plot aside from Harry starting an orphanage, making a few billion galleons a year on his businesses, and lots of fluff, is your bag, then this is the fic for you.

It was called Technomagus and I think Esama deleted it at some point from ffnet.
