    Ignorance is bliss.

Lord Harry. Sometimes it is portrayed well, but usually, it's just a bunch of fancy titles to make Harry seem better than what he is. All it does is give him shit loads of money that he doesn't even use. :facepalm

I've only ever seen the "because I'm Harry Potter" thing as a Dumbledore bashing (you know those thousands of fics where Dumbledore is a bastard and not in the least bit subtle about it) and a response meant to distract the person from the real reason behind it (I think some of those fics were at least readable though I can't for the life of me remember their titles).

I don't understand what bothers you about Lord Harry. I mean, isn't there some sort of charm when Griphook (you don't have any chances of reading about another goblin that doesn't kiss ass in these stories) refers to Harry as: "Lord Gryffindor-Ravenclaw-Slytherin-Hufflepuff-Myrddin-Le Fay-...-Black-Potter"?
Oh, Nuk, you forgot about the artifacts, millions of extremely powerful magical artifacts that Harry doesn't have to use because he had blocks on his magic and now he's ten times stronger than Voldemort and Dumbledore put together. Then, there is the fact that Harry practically owns the Wizarding World since he inherited 99.9% of every business that ever existed. Honestly, what's not to like?

Jap Fag sword is always a good sign the story fails, the only person I know to have pulled off an awesome Harry who uses a Katana is Shezza.

And even then Shezza's Harry went around blowing up shit and setting fire to stuff far more (or getting it sucked into a wormhole/blackhole) than cutting through his enemies screaming "HAI-YAAH" like any true Jap fag does.

I disagree. I read a fic once, where Harry used a Katana fairly well. This was, however, a crack fic (or at least I hope it was), in which Harry was part tree, therefore at one with nature, and able to use a Katana quite well.

It was funny, and Harry was quite awesome, but I cannae remember what it was called. :S

The (main) thing that makes no sense about this is why Dumbledore wouldn't have put the same blocks on Riddle as a kid, since he was more obviously potentially dangerous.

Remember? Dumbledore's stupid. Authors can't write subtle Dumbledore, so they have to cover their shame up by having him be laughably stupid. Problem solved.

I've seen a story once where Magical Blocks placed by Dumbledore were what drove Riddle to the Dark Arts in the first place. Since he didn't have enough money to have them taken care of by the goblins.

I guarantee you that if people on ffn re-read (or in some cases, actually read the books) the series, a lot of the shitty characterizations of Dumbledore would either go down, or be driven to a new high of shiteness.

With the fandom being mostly retarded fangirls (but, thank God, not to the extent of Twilight's), it's a given.

I was just reading a semi-decent (read: guilty pleasure) fic, and this dawned on me.

I absolutely despise moral!magical!backwater!UK. It seems like every single other country is always so much greater than the UK when it comes to muggleborn rights, views on Dark Arts, Purebloods power(or lack thereof), magical skills, etcetera etcetera etcetera.

Why the hell can't we see a story where the UK is more advanced than the other countries when it comes to these things? Where despite all its flaws, the magical UK is better than the alternatives instead of a joke?

    'Twould be nice.

About the only time I've ever seen that happen was in an extended scene from Doghead Thirteen in his Enter The Dragon piece on Caer Azkaban. Something along the lines of "Well yeah, muggleborns ARE slaves after the graduate in the UK, but they are used to fuel sacrifices in America, executed in the Far East, and eaten alive in Africa".

Also, Acton's Heir is supposed to deal with the states' being a backwardish set of colonies.

I don't get why the UK being politically/socially backwards means that every other country in the word has made more advances in magic than it. I mean this is the country that Merlin, Le Fey, the Founders etc come from. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it annoys me when being backwards/outdated in one way automatically makes a country inferior in every aspect.

For the love of God. How idiot and lazy can be some of these writers.

I was just reading a Naruto story which had him going to ninja academy early and being all around a genius than for some bullshit reason he decides to hide his strength I call that BULLSHIT Naruto wouldn't "hide" it if he had the power he would scream about it nonstop. But those retarded Lazy writers can't bothered to write some thing new so they repeat the canon after few thousand words. Hell some of them starts very good before jumping to shark
