I personally don't go with Doran's items. Most of the properties of these items I get from Masteries. For example, If I play twitch, I go with 21/9/0 masteries which gives me 3% lifesteal, +3 HP regen/5 and the other stuff. If I'm going tank, I either for with 0/9/21 or 0/21/9 which gives me the stats of Doran's ring automatically. At least I think they do. I could be wrong. >_>

I gues you go what you're comfortable with. \(o.o)/

Some characters benefit heavily from a bit of an early game boost.

For instance, as said. Garen or Twitch. One of the best Garen Builds I've ever seen and used (I love Garen) is Dual Swords, Boots and then ANOTHER Sword (unless you're destroying, in which case you can just leap for the B.F. Sword. If 1v2 top I might grab the shield instead first). It makes him ridiculously powerful early game, is fairly cheap, and maintains usefulness till you can build an IE (or PD, if you're a baddie).

Dorans items may not build into anything, but they round out in alot of ways. Health, Regen and Attack(or defense, for the shield) of some form, shoring up character's weak points and giving them a small but significant early boost in others.

I almost always buy Dorans first (unless jungling.) They're incredible starting items. You'd be surprised how much difference an extra 100 hp will make when your total is only something like four to five hundred ish in the start. Many times I've escaped with 20 hp in the first few minutes and thought to myself "Thank God for that extra +100 hp."

That said, they are not perfect for every character/situation. Honestly, take a look at the (best) guides for different characters on websites like Solomid and Mobafire, that'll give you a good idea of what, when, and why, generally.

Is it just me or are solo-queue players more retarded than usual? Methinks its all the kids on break from middle/high school.

Had a recent game where a Gangplank kept bitching and moaning for ganks when the other team was tower hugging. Then he had the nerve to get pissed when HE got ganked even though I kept pinging and saying mia.

Oh and we had a Kennen who was pretty retarded too. He was the only one either than Kayle who could of gone mid but they decided to lane top and bot respectively. That left me, a Nunu, to solo mid. Granted, I got some kills but it meant nothing when everyone else kept dropping like flies.

    Freaking hate solo-queue.

So I decided to buy Graves on a whim since hey, its christmas. First game I did fairly well, but we had a leaver and lost. Close though. I really like Graves though, and on my second game with him, we had another leaver but we dominated anyway and I got a PENTAKILL and ACE for the victory. On Christmas. My second game with him.

Basically, FUCKYEAR GRAVES. My first penta and the first AD carry I like. Good day.

Hmmm... well, I suppose that's basically what I thought already. I appreciate the responses though. That said, I generally am quite comfortable going for a builder item(well, obviously, since that's what I always do...), and almost always stay positive throughout an entire match.

I'll try it out nonetheless, and see how it works out. I guess if I tend to kill my enemy first before they might kill me, it does pay out, so perhaps...

(For most mage-types, I generally start Meki Pendant and build into an early Tear of the Goddess on my first trip to town, along with some basic boots and usually an AP item, depending on what item I'm building first and how expensive the item is that I need for it. Then again, that's just my fetish for Archangel's Staff shining through... Doesn't work as well for every caster though, depending on spell spam-ability to build up the bonus mana, so I certainly don't always get one.)

Yeah I know the feeling. Tear of the Goddess > AAS is usually a must have for me because I hate always having mana issues.

That's terrible...You should just buy Sapphire and convert it into a catalyst/ROA instead.

Cata has better lane sustain and will help bulk you up significantly while still adding a large chunk of AP.

If you want a caster that never has mana issues, I have to recomend Ryze, if you don't have at least 4k mana late game, you're doing something wrong with him since most of his spells scale off of mana.

    Viktor First Impressions:

Viktor puts out Quite a bit of damage, though it's not INSANE like some champs are.

He's pretty-skillshot heavy, with three of his abilities being skillshots (if you include his AoE Slow-then-Stun.)

His E does a buttload of damage if you upgrade it. Though it can be a bit awkward to aim it's very versatile, not being limited to just a straight line going forward like many champion's skillshots.

His Q can shield for a fair amount, but if you don't level it second it's going to be worthless till near endgame.

His ult IS ridiculous. It's a small AoE Nuke (With a full build it was a 800 dmg nuke) that will also pick a target and freaking follow them whilst causing heavy AoE DoT. You can redirect it to a new target/area rather easily. I've gotten a couple doublekills with his ult alone, it's not too terribly hard to E both of your lane opponents and then R them. If they're not dead immediately, the DoT on your E (if you upgraded it) will most likely finish them off.

Like most mages, he's rather squishy, shield or not. And he can suffer from mana issues if you don't build something to compensate. Personally I prefer an AA, but choosing something with some survivability mixed in would be pretty good as well.

    I'm REALLY liking this guy.

Edit: Actually, his E is REALLY awkward. Forget aiming it on the move with any dependable accuracy until you've got some practice. I'm not particularly good at it at the moment.

It was a Custom Game, but I saw someone's Match History, where they went 0/17/3(Victory) with him, and did 1.73 million damage. Only kills 212+21 Minions and Neutrals too.
I figured they just kept tagging Baron and backing off, despite how silly that is, but maybe it's something different. His total damage values are always significantly higher than his specific numbers for Physical and Magical damage.

(p.s. while I do have nearly 13k ip, no, I have not unlocked and played him yet.)

Yeah, there's a game in my history that says 1.82 million.
5 kills, like 160 something minion kills.

Apparently there is a gigantic bug in how his damage is recorded. Damn.

I noticed the Master List of Gamer Tags doesn't include League of Legends.

I would like to get some teams together from DLP if anyone wants to join.

    My user name is ReignsRuin.

You could add me to the list, Midknight. I'm even on your friends list already. Though, I suppose I should just post over on the list myself.

On topic, I bought Volibear. I jungle with him, mainly, as i'm wont to do, and it's alright. He's less aggressive than Skarner, but more survivable too. I've never 3v1'd yet, and in fact I generally have a problem chasing people down, so maybe I need a better build. I've built philo-boots-warmogs as a core, with either trinity-atma for attack, or FoN-revive again after you die (sorry I've forgotten the name). If i stop pretending i'm a bruiser, I win games much faster, but it's always hard to give up kills to the carry.

Which one is yours? I must've not added you to my DLP group in the game and left you off thinking you were a pub.

My username on League is redshell234. I just started playing a few days ago, though, so yeah. I try and play one or two games a day, so I can get a feel for the game and then get better.
