Probably because of the last review she got, which basically said she was writing a bad self-insert. I doubt she took it well, considering the AN.

Hope she tries writing something else in the future. Her style was actually very engaging.

The story appears to no longer exist. I was actually looking forward to reading this. :(

I found this in my weekly dredge of "Harry Potter/Any 100K+". It's actually surprisingly engaging, and I quite like the style.

The plot is something like Harry was presumed dead or whatever, and then they found him living in Muggle London, after he lived there for four years or so. He's about thirteen if I recall.

It doesn't have the Manipulative Dumbledore, Fudge is actually more then halfway competent, and I'm on like Chapter 11.

The implied child abuse is actually handled as implied so far. Harry is fairly independent, but not so much that it pisses me off.

Name: Harry Potter's Rise to Power
    Author: Pokemaster12
    No pairing as of yet.
Summary: Harry Potter has Eidetic Memory, how will this and few other differences change the world of Harry Potter? And will it be for the better? Action/Adventure/eventual Romance.

This is almost readable for a few reasons:
    1) It's really a Harry harem in year one.
    2) The author is writing it by books and not updating until he finishes each book instead of each chapter; meaning a series of updates followed by several months of waiting for new material. Which really messes with the flow of reading and probably will cause many to forget why they read it in the first place.
    3) While I'm a fan of superpowered Harry that hide his power for whatever reason. Here I don't think the author does a very good job of having harry hide his abilities.
He all but runs circles around his classmates, while practicing mixed martial arts (which I'm sure more than a few people would notice) and has him practicing all these things in secret. Which I'm sure people would get suspicious of after he starts disappearing on a regular basis.

    Anyways it get's a 3/5 from me.

    Implied?
If you say so. (Well, alright, that's one chapter only.)

    Still, a quite decent fic.

Sirius Black is slightly crazier in an interesting way. There is a fun scene where he almost kills Remus.

Also, the scene where he takes the newspaper from Fudge was really awesome.

On Harry Potter has Eidetic Memory I'll probably have a look and tell later. Hope it's at least quarter as good as Kaleidoscope.
    Edit {
But yeah it doesn't sound like anything promising.
Still, will know after a few pages.

I would give this a [IMG] suggestion. The first chapter was that bad.

Difference of opinions I guess, also I've lowered my standards over the years out of sheer boredom. That and while it's nowhere near adequate it's not awesomely bad, so it goes into an almost recommendable category for me which is very broad.

I followed the story since the beginning and I actually liked the first few chapters but it all went to hell with the whole emo!Harry guardian Remus spin which doesn't mix up with the independent beginning. The story degrades Harry more and more into a younger child for the misguided Hurt/Comfort obsession of the writer. It had a lot more potential.

Wow, really? What you should really be saying is "This story is completely unreadable for a few reasons." From that summary, you know there is going to be nothing redeemable in the story. And with all that shit in it, and you still think it's a 3/5 story, you've got to read some better stuff. I think everyone on this site can see that this story is not going to be any good without even reading it, and even this thread has some standards.

Standards for a thread that has almost as it's first word? Perish the thought. Point is I've read much worse; such as Harry Potter and the Veela, The Wizard of the Kaleidoscope, and Harry Potter and the tower of Pime. This story is better than those by leaps and bounds, so I can almost recommend it to someone. But I never would.

Fair enough. The same thing happened to me but this is stretching even those low standards.

This is why I'm only going to be reading from the DLP libraries for awhile, I haven't seen any quality fiction since I read The Lie I lived.

Just make some simple rules for yourself.

If a story starts with this:

Don't read any further. Such writers don't deserve your time.

    Thanks to a Snake
    Rating: M
    Pairing: Harry/Daphne(Marriage Contract)
    Timeframe:Yr1-?
Summary: Harry is effected more by the abuse at home, that, a chance meeting with a snake, and a marriage contract send him down a different path.

Harry is abused, Harry finds a snake, Harry learns of the Wizarding World sooner than canon, Marriage contract between House Potter and Greengrass, Slytherin!Harry, Mentor!Snape, so far no OC's

Not going to lie, this is my favorite guilty pleasure fic right now. I would put it up for review, but for some reason I don't think it is up to DLP standards. I still give it a 4/5

You seem to have forgotten Ragnok the Friendly Goblin and the custom wand with multiple cores. :facepalm

It's poorly written, and it's so unoriginal that I could swear that I've read the whole thing before.

    1/5.

I swear I tried to read that story, but I can't remember why I stopped. Let me check ....

Hm. It might be Freak. Or it might be the ssssssssnake. Or it might be Hadrian Potter. Or it might be 100 million galleons. OR IT MIGHT BE A MARRIAGE CONTRACT.

(That's only 1/4 of the first chapter, of course). What in the fuck?

Just because I like it doesn't mean its good, that's why its a guilty pleasure. You don't have to like it, I just felt it deserved to be in this thread.

Yeah this one is a guilty pleasure for me too, mainly because this harry/snape mentor isn't as creepy as NettieT's Harry Potter and the Twisted Timeline. Snape as Hermione's father is just eww creepy. Also I like some of the humor, but Marraige at 15 in this one is just weird for me. 1/5
