An Irritation with Windows Seven

Windows 7 has been doing something quite irritating since I got my new computer, and it's annoyed me enough to make a thread about it.

It's about the taskbar. See, I mod a particular game, and doing this requires me to have several folders open at once. All is fine and dandy, until my computer goes to sleep. When I wake the thing up, it's rearranged the order of my folders. Being OCD as I am, this irks me. Worse, the only way to get them back in the right order is to navigate to the correct folder manually; I can't click and drag them to where I want them.

My question is, how do I prevent them from rearranging themselves? I have no earthly idea why M$ did this, but I want it to end.

If it's rearranging them in alphabetical order you could rename the folders and number them in order e.g, 01_Game_Files, 02_Texture_Files and so on. Make sure you rename them back afterwards.

Alternatively you could just disable the "Go to sleep after x minutes" feature.

I assume that you talk about the grouping that Win 7 does, right? If yes, then you could just disable the grouping.

Well, I was more hoping for a workaround that prevented Windows from rearranging my tabs. Is there anything like that?

Maybe you should just stop crying. Its going to rearrange them by alphabetical order, or numerical order. No matter what. Its just how it is. You might be able to find a setting to fix that under the options, just look around. See what google says, etc.

Oh I'm sorry Zombie, I was under the (apparently mistaken) impression that questions like this were what this forum was made for.

    Douchenozzle.

Well, I think the Support sub-forum was originally intended to be for DLP Forum Support moreso than support for whatever-vaguely-related-problem-anyone-is-having.

...Or that's what someone told me last time I used it to ask a computer question. I've used it for computer related issues before, as have others, so it seems fair game since no one has demanded folks stop doing it. Actually it looks like that is what the majority of the threads in here are about, so yeah.

Will this help? I have not tried it so if it breaks your computer don't blame me. ;)

Not being a douchenozzle. And no, this is not a place for your computer building needs, or your OS problem needs. Its for DLP. Raven gets an Email for every post you make here. He's made it known that he finds it annoying. Middy, and probably a couple other admins get them too. I'm sure they don't love it either.

There are other parts of the forum for these type of questions. There's a whole computer subforum that you could use.

The reason I answered the way I did, was because I assumed that you hadn't did any research on your own (you really didn't indicate if you did) and you just wanted someone to answer your question. I think your problem is very dumb, and easily something you could deal with.

    /not minimodding

Also Ashaya suck my fat dick you stupid cunt.

    Hypocrisy much?

And yeah, I know those are old threads, probably from before the computer subforum was made, but still. Many people still use this forum as a computer support forum and not just for DLP help. TBH, I wasn't actually aware of the computer subforum or I'd have posted there.

Look, I have done research on this. I'm not the type of person to ask for people to do things for me if I haven't tried doing it myself. I'll admit, my Google-fu isn't exactly the strongest thing, but I've tried anyway, and now I'm asking for help.

@CheddarTrek: I think that link is for inside Windows Explorer; my problem is with the taskbar. Still, I've made a post on that forum too, so we'll see how that turns out. Thanks for the link.

Eh, you're out of line, Zombie. This forum has pretty much become the tech support forum anyway, and it's been that way for a long time which I'm sure you know.

And I don't see Ashaya in the thread?

Wrong. He gets an email for every post in the Name Change Request thread, not for every thread in the support forum.

No one has provided a link to this Computer Sub-forum you speak of -- where the hell is it? I just checked the two or three places that I thought it might be and didn't see it, so it might be safe to say that most folks don't know it exists. Yet folks come to "Support" and see Computer questions. So it's not surprising that they also post here.

I think this is what they're referring to, although I could be wrong.

Irrelevant. He was trying to make a point that this part of the forum has been designated solely for PC support. Its not. It says it on the front page. Its for DLP. Regardless of the shit that gets posted here.

Wrong. Raven is god of DLP. This part of the forum is for DLP support. He has said that he gets emails for support questions, generally there is answer for questions by him a good percentage of the time. Especially regarding technical issues with the site. So, quietly go fuck yourself.

@Mknote: The place to ask for support regarding the site including the forums and IRC server. Says it right on the front page under the support link. The other forum you're looking for is under Multimedia. Says Computers right in the name.

I notice you've not posted similar concerns to the other threads in the Support forum, only to mine. That kinda makes your so-called concern look rather petty.

Also, allow me to quote myself:

Unlike moderators, I'm not blessed with the ability to move threads, hence this thread is stuck here at the moment.

Now, if you have any solutions to the problem at hand, feel free to share them. If you just want to keep bitching, please get the fuck out, kthxbai.

    Blah blah blah.

Absent Power Settings on windows partition.

    Enabling IPv6 Ubuntu 9.04 (JJ)

What the fuck is this, and how do I fix it?

    Possible computer failure.

This forum has become the tech support forum. I use it that way. You use it that way (although you seem to have forgotten). Everyone uses it that way, and you've never complained. Not until mknote does? Just stop.
