The problem is that HP is set 40 years after the Bond books. This means it would be a crossover with the movies which are nowhere near as awesome.

But if you really wanted one how about:
Two years after the final battle Harry is living in the muggle world under the name James Bond, hiding from the corrupt ministry. He is recruited into MI6. On a mission he somehow discovers a plot where Voldemort, reborn as Blofeld, is trying to kill all muggles and retake the wizarding world.

    1. Harry Potter gets tossed into all sorts of shit, and has strong moral fiber. Harry Potter does not thirst for adventure.

    2. Bond doesn't play well with others unless there's a chance of one sided sex-play so this set-up has issues.

    3. This is possible but Bond's a spy who gets information, and things, on missions. Bond is not an investigator so much as having finely tuned situational awareness. Good idea, bad execution.

    4. Villainous, and there are two issues here really. (a) A wizard/witch as a baddie could work, especially if it's within Spectre or the Russians, a squib might be better, they could make Harry in general but not be too much of a blatant foil to him. (b) The American CIA in Bond are always in the same place, putting a real wizard there would totally fine because the International Statute of Secrecy would keep him just as bound as Harry is, and Harry-as-Muggle isn't too bad if you do it right. In Bond canon, the CIA are barely allies, they're on the same side and might help under the table but they don't "team up"

    5. Why? sure it could be forced to work but this shouldn't have to happen, because either Harry is new to seduction and you get "comedic" fumbling, or it's old hat to him and he's so suave they melt with him just like Bond girls do. So the only positive outcome would be Harry bangs some biracial somewhat off balance but very hot girl, and she's either evil or there's pointless smut that doesn't help the story.

Terrible shit man, and Bond had a very well done reboot novel this summer where some things (like his bosses) change to fit our "post 9/11" world and really just became more modern and match what the public now knows better.

I thought the new bond book was average at best. It had lost all the small things that made Bond great. There was no alcoholism and chain smoking, it seemed to me like they took an original character and just called him James Bond. The one by Sebastian Faulks a few years ago had the opposite problem. He tried to just copy Ian Rankin exactly, it felt like I was reading Goldfinger again. I wouldn't count a crossover with the new books as a Bond crossover.

    They rebooted the series? Seriously?

I don't think that's really something you can do with a novel series. It's like those "ROBERT LUDLUM's [insert book here] Written by [insert shitty author here]" things.

I think it'd work best almost as a lighthearted parody. As people have said, Bond going into the magical world.

His usual 'gadgets' could be focused around making him looking magical. A stun gun which emits red lights like a Stunner, a fake wand which creates illusions to make him seem magical, as someone else said, something to see through anti-Muggle wards.

You could write a parody which follows the 007 Stereotypes and puts it into Magical Britain. I think any attempt at trying to take it seriously would just end up being cheesy (Given that, well, to start with Bond is somewhat cheesy).

Hah, I remember reading one of the Bourne continuations by Lustbader when I was about 15 and being amazed at how awful it was.

    Avoid Eric Van Lustbader.

At first I read his name as LustVader for some odd reason, I now have one of the oddest mental images imaginable.
