Yes, I know that. But does the Operative stealth and the Mercs ability to take a punch whilst healing weigh it up? How hard do the heals hit, at what rate can they push out healing without overheating completely?

At what point do they need peels? When do they start kiting and how does it effect their output? Does it shut it off completely or does it only limit them?

Let's see. I really only know merc's potential in basic lvl 50 greens. Haven't gotten rare stuff or PVP items yet:

Resource: Technically, zero resource limitation due to Combat-support cylinder's free heals with the basic attack. If I was really full throttle healing, I could probably last a solid 30 seconds of 100% spamming before tapping out. If I manage it right, then I'll never be in danger of tapping out on heals. I'll always have a heal ready and be in the 50% Heat range, keeping myself at 5 Heat/s regen.

Heal Scan (1.5s Cast 12s CD) in all green 50 gear = 2k-3k per cast. With maxed combat support Cylinder and heal talents, = about 2.2k - 3.3k. With the right spec, I can chain-burst Rapid Scan + Healing scan, inside 5 seconds, for about 5k-6k healing rather easily.

I can probably, with well managed resource, heal a solid 10k in AOE every 10 seconds to one person and keeping pumping out at that level for a long time, near indefinitely. That's not accounting the AOEs or the Kolto Shell charges.

Mercs don't really need peels as much as a sage. A ton of their heals are all insta-cast and they can usually power through the mobs with just heal spamming until someone saves them. Energy shield = 100% cast = god send. Kiting just takes away their basic heals, for the most part. It'll cut about, say 40% 1v1 heal capabilities away from you but still leave you all of your instant bursts and DoT heals, which can still cover about 10k HP easy in 10s if really pushed.

I've even been able to, spamming everything and tapping out my full heat gauge, heal a guy around 20k HP, I think it was, inside 10 seconds. Never really kept track since I was busy trying to run from enemies.

I should play my heal merc again and get more solid numbers.

So after struggling through the high level space missions on my 2nd character, I found the power converter which makes their difficulty change from "oh god oh god oh god" to "finished with a minute to go, better browse reddit".

I fucking hate myself right now.

Any opinion on Ops in PVE? I'm thinking of training one for PVP, but if PVE is annoying as hell, I'm not gonna bother.

More concerned about how well they survive and dish damage versus normal mobs than just bosses.

It's harder than average for the first ~40 levels; Questing isn't as smooth as with my Sage, actually it's rather slow until you hit 36, then your life will improve drastically with your engage (which, when talented, can throw your target on the ground for ~3 seconds).

I've rolled a smuggler with which I hit 50 a couple of days ago. PvP is fun as hell.

People who abuse that are going to get their valor knocked back down for abusing an obvious 'bug' (You'r suposed to get insta killed entering an enemy spawn zone).

In other news, lower level pvp is fun again, not getting 3 shot by stealth classes in full Centurion gear, heck, I managed to get 2nd objective points, 2nd healing with 125k with my Level 12 Sorcerer in Alderan last night.

My tries at PVP were pitiful. I go raped, 2 medals at most.. low damage and I'm a DPS.. (Sentinel) ..
No PVP gear nor proper hotkey configuration, but sill.. Its really fast paced. I suppose(hope) I will get better in time.

Anyways guys, I have a question of sorts:
Gathering skills have missions (despite those map nodes were you can get supplies)

I choose Artifice, and currently I have Archeology and Treasure hunting... Both missios - at least on my level - give very similar rewards ...
Should I drop one and get say... Investigation/Underworld Trading for schematics? Or is it possible to get them on TH missions?

(I derped on ther internet for in depth info on the crew mission skills. Had no luck)

I know people say Biochem is the way to go. But the way I see it they are bound to balance them, sooner or later (perhaps later.. hahah)

Im yet to hit level 18, if thats relevant to your answers ,,

On a side note: I tried a Smuggler and made him a Scoundrel. Those cover needed abilities fekt very annouing to me..

I actually believe the individuals whom 'took extreme advantage of this situation" is the ones that gained upwards 300k Valour. Not the average joe that got 50k ish. There is no mention of any rollbacks except extreme cases.

So I guess the patch broke a lot of shit for a lot of people, myself included.

The issue Im having is the patch will start downloading, get about 27% in and then get a mysterious error and tell me to repair.

I do so, the repair goes off successfully... and it happens all over again.

Anyone else have this issue, or know how to fix it? I really wanna play.

Previous issues with lore-rape notwithstanding, nothing I've seen about this game since launch indicates that it's anything but a sick joke.

    EDIT:
Uh, which books? If you're referring to the official TOR tie-in books, those are worthless for anything but kindling. Or are you referring to Star Wars books in general? Because there are a few good ones.

Besides which, I wasn't referring to books, I was referring to the Knights of the Old Republic video games.

Any Star Wars fan worth their salt will come out & admit that the expanded Universe book series doesn't exist, it's all a bad dream. I'd go so far as to say the same about the new trilogy too, Phantom etc. Simply god awful.

Sadly this doesn't surprise me, the meme part. A friend of mine who plays TOR says it's a lot stricter than most MMO's when it comes to rules & well, perfect example. Glad I avoided it, really.

Not that I suppose the guy didn't have it coming though, but still. Strike 1 point up for the fine-print & age rating.

So who else is canceling their sub after the first 30 days because this game is pretty much crappy gameplay warped inside the nice gold of decent story and average graphics?

Assuming you're even able to unsubscribe. There have been some problems with the "Cancel Subscription" option being mysteriously absent from their webpage, and in the forums they've been suspending people who are providing fixes for the problem.

I canceled yesterday. Sadly, I was a day late so I'll have another month ahead of me. I think I'll get back to D2 then.
