Everything Giz said just made me happy. That's basically my perfect world settings. And I'm with Coyote in the creeper mod.

Because it doesn't have a penis, so the 72 virgins it'll get for blowing itself up won't mean a damn thing.

I am definitely up for it as well. It would be great to finally have a stable server, without too much griefing and small children, to play on.
If it were possible to set up a server forum as well, that would be great. I am thinking it would be a place where people can sign up for larger projects like the railroad, city projects, Hogwarts projects etc.

As for whether or not there should be mods running on the server, I honestly do not believe that the vanilla version is that great for multiplayer. While the survival part of the game; gathering all the blocks you need yourself, not spawning any and the gratification afterwards of building something large is great, mods is needed to smooth out lots of things in the game.
I am talking of mods like “Lockette” – Being able to lock you chests. Being stolen from after using hours of gathering materials isn’t fun and even if I am reasonably sure no one in here would (not) steal… Why have the opportunity if it can be easily removed.
I tried this “repair” mod once that was really nice. I am not sure what it was named but it basically checked your inventory for new raw materials when you tools lost all their durability and repaired them. I think the repair costs can be tweaked to suit out needs in the mod files.
I haven’t really used portals and such much, but I did fine without them on a relative large server, so I really don’t see the need.
The economy and city mods are both fun to have on servers with large populations. The problem with the economy mod is that (as far as I know) requires quite a lot of maintenance as it would otherwise be easy to exploit it.
Laying claim to an area (citymod) isn’t really needed unless we are worrying about griefing right and left.
Last, of mods I can think of is the “exploding creeper” that does not damage blocks. As someone already mentioned in here, exploding creepers suck when you are building something and removing their ability to destroy houses etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I've not played multiplayer in a long while but I'm assuming it's the same as singleplayer so it's pretty easy to repair your stuff (it's not that good though).
I'm weary about anything that is automating the process, since when I start, I tend to lose motivation to do anything by hand and then in time to do anything at all since if feels pointless.

As for locking your chests, I guess that depends on how the permissions work, if you can set it so that guests can't destroy/place blocks, open chests and other things that'd be griefing. I think it's would be fine to leave them unlocked. If anyone stole they'd just be blacklisted. It wouldn't really be a problem to add that mod though since, you don't HAVE to lock it, and you can give two other people access to a locked chest.

As for economy and city mods, I guess that we could add them (preferable after a while when we start losing interest in vanilla), what do the rest of you guys think? Anything is open right now, any other mods you'd like, describe the mod and we can discuss it.

I don't mind that creeper mod.

What about rules and permission groups? Guests, Member, Donor, Mod/Admin?

This is not my server, it's OUR server. So what do you guys want?

I think that one server should be there without any mods at all. Economy, locked chests, its all good but it takes away the feel a vanilla server gives you.

As long as we are all from DLP, I am relatively sure no one will steal anything. Even if they do, we can just see the log to find out who did it and blacklist them. Maybe start daily backups, just in case someone goes on a rampage and destroys everything?

Screw automating anything. Lockette's not really that vital on a low population, whitelisted server. (Read: We honestly didn't have problems with people stealing shit whenever we made shit on the old w3t server Vash ran in beta.) City mods are useless until you get a stupidly big server population/griefers. Economy mods fuck things up, period.

    This really.

Yes, the original server w3t.me was epic, and there weren't any mods as far as I remember.

So long as we're allowed to prank one another (no TNT or fire) then I'm a happy motherfucker.

If you think/know that the other guy can take a joke, do it.

If someone doesn't like it, don't do it.

She said because he's about to be eaten, lol.

To be fair though, most of the regular users could spawn basic helper kits to get them going. The admins could spawn anything, and we used that to make some epic shit that would've taken weeks if not months to get the material for. No real need to take anything, since we'd always go help each other.

Oh god those toolkits were a lifesaver every time I got caught out trapped underground with no way home.

I don't really care if we end up using lockboxes or not, I'll continue my tradition of squirreling away the good china somewhere secret. I don't thing having /tp would be a good idea, but I would love to see a revival of the portal/sky network system we had back in the w3t server (that being said, I'll still spend most of my time building a massive transit system). City and Econ mods seem unnecessary since we'll be small population and working together on most epic sized projects.

if we have the canyon with the secret waterfall entrance, then we need no mods. End of story.

But yeah, kits are nice. Gizmore, when will you have this up?

What do you mean? my point is that all we need is the canyon, so obviously I was there for it.
