I just caught a Magikarp, since I need a water pokemon and Gyarados is awesome. It's got a Naive nature and Swift Swim as an ability. All in all, I think it's going to be AWESOME

 

It loses swift swim upon evolution :\

 

And I still hate that fact forever and always.

Though Moxie is quite nice.

So, I started a Crystal run and I have about 10 or 11 pokes, will list in a mo'

Anyways, I'm in Goldenrod, already beat the gym there, and looking forward to steamrolling all of johto and kanto.

I've not had any deaths yet...

What's the deal with the Battle Frontier? Can I compete safely, or do deaths count there as well (when I'm using my own pokemon)? I'd much rather spend time there than at that damned Game Corner.

 

Every battle frontier should have an area where you rent pokemon. That one is free game, the rest aren't.

 

Got to the Pokemon League, did some grinding, now bored. Caught Lochness the Rhyhorn and Sorrows the Ponyta on the way.

So my brother came to visit, and borrowed my DS for a few trade arounds, wanting to fill his dex.

And then he put my HG cartridge somewhere silly, and can't remember.

So I'm starting an alternate rule Emerald (the most fun I've played, except HG):
No computer use.
No purchases.
Catch whatever I want, but only on first trip through a route. Also, no lines I've already owned.
One slave is allowed. And allowed to break the rules.
Fainting is still death.

Currently on 30 mins, level ten Ralts, level ten Mudkip.

You are certainly... hopeful with those pokemon levels.

Journal Entry #10

I spend the day training. My pokemon are all strong, yes, but not nearly powerful enough to take on the entire Johto league in one go. Not yet.

I first strive to fill the two empty spots in my party, taking Hellheim the Quagsire out of the box as well as Fate the Spinarak. Fate is soon a mighty Ariados and Hellheim manages to learn Earthquake by herself, allowing me to equip Matilda the Miltank with the TM I found in Victory Road.

I manage to bring my team up all the way to level 40, save for Albus the Dragonair. But that's okay. I have plans for him.

I call up a trainer I'd battled the other day, Gaven, and offer to train with him. He seems pretty pumped about the idea, so I head over to route 26 right away.

I say goodbye a few hours later, and leave with a bit more confidence and a Dragonite at my side.

The league awaits. I'll continue this entry when it's over, one way or another.

Before I tell you of the easy victory I scored against the Elite Four, let it be known that it was my second attempt. On the first, with my terribly low-leveled Pokemon, I got to Lance and was then swept by his Dragonite’s Outrage. Much raging was done and because I am a lazy person, I put it all behind me and tried again with the same Pokemon.

Anyways, I found Will to be rather difficult because of that stupid Jynx and all those powerful Psychics. However, with a combination of Drome the Xatu and Teh the Lanturn, I beat his ass and moved on.

Koga was a joke. Xatu for the Ariados and Venomoth (Fly), Kens the Graveler for the Muk (Earthquake), Sorrows the Ponyta for the Fortress (Flame Wheel), and Lanturn for the Crobat (Discharge). All died within a couple of hits.

Oh, Bruno. Why are you always overlooked? All of his Pokemon were easily killed except for his Machamp. That thing has No Guard which means none of its attacks miss, even when using Fly. My poor Xatu nearly died from it. A combination of Confuse Ray and Discharge from my Lanturn was able to eventually take it out.

Karen was next. Her Houndoom could have given me trouble with its Nasty Plot, but I Surf crit it, so that was easy.

Lance.

/me shakes head.

Let me tell you, I was expecting for all my Pokemon to be killed. I had no ice attacks so I couldn’t deal with his Dragonites. His Gyarados was easily electrocuted but when it came time to deal with his Dragonites, I barely had a plan. I Confused Rayed it with my Lanturn and barely survived the Outrage. I switched to Chaos the Tangela as fodder and then switched in Kens the Graveler when there was a lull in the action. Only Kens’ Rock Blast could do damage to these things, so it was now or never. I Rock Blasted, hit it five times, activating the dragon’s Sitrus Berry. I Rock Blasted again, and sent it to red.

I knew what was coming next. Full Restore was the most annoying trait of these trainers, so I Rock Polished.

Lance didn’t Full Restore, but my decision to buff up paid off and Dragonite died from confusion hax. I was delicious with joy and decided to keep Kens in. On the next Dragonite, I got it at half health, and the Dragonite’s Blizzard missed. I Rock Blasted it and got it to red. Blizzard missed again, and then I killed it. The last Dragonite had Dragon Rush, which would have killed me instantly, but twice it tried to attack and twice the Dragonite missed. Kens the Gravler buried it with rocks.

Charizard didn’t even do damage. Rock Blast = dead.

I momentarily switched out to my Ponyta to heal Graveler and once the Ponyta died to the Aerodactyl, I sent Kens back in and finished the job.

That’s right, my Graveler swept Lance’s team, all because of hax.

I nearly cried.

Anyways, I’m off to Kanto now.
