    Anyone going to participate?

I'm in, it's going to be difficult for me, with the number of shows I'm watching, but it's a worthy goal. And I'll have so much free time!

I don't understand how not downloading media illegaly will affect the profit margins of big media companies.

That said, I'm willing to not buy any media for a month, that sounds hard but doable.

Aren't SOPA and PIPA dead, at least for now? Hell, hasn't ACTA been refused by most of the EU?

It's a good idea but I don't think it will ever get the numbers needed for it to work. I'll do it, I don't buy that much shit anyway, but I don't see why illegal downloads are included. surely they hurt the media companies more than just delaying buying their stuff.

You can measure popularity by number of downloads.

And no, contrary to their propaganda, downloads don't hurt sales as much as much as you think. Sure, some people will download instead of buying, but there are also people who would never buy a thing without testing it first, be it a program, a movie, a tv-show or anything else.

Good thing I just downloaded those two songs on iTunes today instead of blowing it off another day or two :awesome

Will do. Not like I buy much anyway these days.

Not sure they would need huge numbers for it to be noticeable. Depends how visible the campaign is, but it can work.

    Am I still allowed Netflix?

JWH: Discouraging illegal downloads is a question of retaining the moral high ground.

I will participate except for the cinema stuff. Too much good stuff in March to wait.

I don't really have words for this faggotry. Every bit helps, sure, but... talk about violating the spirit of it.

Meh, I'm in. Not sure how effective it will be, but it won't hurt me any to wait a month. If no one tries it definitely won't work and all that.

Meh, I might as well. I've got a ton of old stuff I want to get through. Hopefully it'll last.

I don't believe that not downloading illegally gives us the moral highground - or that the alternative takes it from us - so I'm in, but my piracy isn't stopping.

I support it, sure, but I'm not about to stop going to the cinema with my buddies because of it, and after a long week of working, all you really do want to do is relax.

And I thought only assholes still use the word faggot?

I'm in. May not do much, but better than nothing I suppose.

    It's only for a month...

The thing for me is, my favorite DJs and producers all give away free music for download constantly, and I honestly don't think that I can just....not download those songs. However, they are for free, and they certainly aren't 'big media'. Does anyone think that could be considered violating the spirit of the month?

I certainly won't be buying anything, nor will I be going to the movies, or downloading illegally. But YOU CANNOT TAKE MY FREE BEATS.

I'm in (assuming the copy of Mass Effect 3 I pre-ordered before March started doesn't count against me).

As for Ashaya's question, I don't think it's violating the spirit of the month, since the entire point is to hit the wallets of big corporations.

I'll do this. It won't be particularly difficult for me, and it can't hurt ;3 I've got doubts about Black March working, but I don't buy much anyway, so it's no loss.
