That's not gonna end well. On the one hand it's just another project that probably will never see the light of day (like at this moment Death Note, Evangelion, Akira etc.), but on the other there was Dragon Ball.

Hopefully it'll be more like Death Note and less like Dragon Ball.

 

Japanese adaptations, even if they're sometimes cheesy, at least usually stay close to the source material. Americans, at least when it comes to potential manga's adaptation, not so much (taking DB and various not filmed screenplays as example). But as Marvel comics adaptations show us (compare before Blade and after Blade), they can learn.

 

Okay, does anyone take the new guys seriously? Their first targets have been the two strongest guys in existence right now. Yeah, good luck with that. I don't feel any excitement for what is going to come or for what is going to happen.

All I know is that they are either getting curbstomped or they will have some really contrived abilities to force some drama and either way, it's going to be boring.

 

Seems like Stooge #1 at Ichigo's house expected to block/negate/steal Ichigo's Bankai. Not sure why it didn't work, but I'm expecting some cheap abilities there. Also, Riech? Kubo is getting really lazy with his naming. I remember when all names of organizations, people and abilities had to work in multiple languages, now he is using the most stereotypical evil name I've ever heard.

 

All the issues with the plot aside, Yamamoto did get a nice badass moment at the start of the chapter. You have to enjoy Bleach's little moments of goodness, or else all the fail starts to make it intolerable.

 

Agreed, I completely enjoyed the whole "I am here, this is the only security needed."

 

That line is something that has always occurred to me. If you follow the policy that your strongest fighter ends up in leadership position--especially when they realize the possibility of betrayal/assassination attempts and are probably on the lookout 24/7--why the fuck do they need guards? Servants, yes. Errand-runners, yes. Office workers, yes. But guards? Why try to protect someone with people weaker than him?

 

He/She probably can't be alert 100% of the time, hence guards.

 

First rule of survival: Your mooks engage their mooks/heavy hitters. Try and get that spare second or two to gather your resources; pick up a degree of their fighting style or something by how they engage the underlings.

 

That's the main thing (though Zenzao also raises a good point). Contrary to how things work in a lot of manga/anime, most assassins don't openly challenge their marks to honorable single combat, but instead do sensibly pragmatic things like kill their target while the target is sleeping.

Plus, in literary terms, the bad guys need to kill some mooks to establish themselves as a semi-legitimate threat.

 

Two things. The first one - for a moment I was worried that we will have to to deal with somehow depowered Ichigo. Again. Seems that is not the case, but let's hope that whatever that thing was it didn't work even partially.

The second one - is Sasakibe dead? That would be like the first death of one of the good guys in this manga.

 

Are you kidding? Someone was literally sliced in half in the last arc, and now all she has to show for it is a bandage on her head. Sasakibe has Heroic Blood Loss.tm, give him a bandaid and a week in recovery and he'll be fine.

 

Wait, who was sliced in half last arc? The only person I can think of who had that happen was the bartender guy that kenpachi curbstomped in a single panel.

 

Hiyori, the annoying little vizard who used to be Urahara's lieutenant, got sliced in half, then appeared in a recent chapter with a bandage on her head, walking around just fine.

 

She was placed in one of Hachi's barriers which mess around with space and time to heal. If Unohana and Hachi worked together to heal her, it's not a great surprise.

 

Kubo loves him some Tsundere.

 

I honestly didn't remember that... Anyway, who wants to see Yamamoto pretty much slap these bastards down hard? I need something to rekindle some of my love for this series and the last arc didn't help me there.

 

Cue arrow-to-the-Hakusui and Saketsu points.

Remember that? Uryuu took out some asshole shinigami's in the SS arc to destroy his powers.

Imagine how devastating that would be to have the strongest Gotei 13 Captain rendered useless straight out of the gate.

 

Would make for an interesting development, on the other hand, the chances of him actually letting something like that happen to him are slim to none. He has dealt with Quincies before, he knows how their powers function to some extent, and quite frankly, its the god damn captain commander, they wont even touch him without some massive ass pull from Kubo.
