He's alright. Doesn't have the same sort of presence that Andy Whitfield had though.

    What Kai said.

But I think I might get used to him over time.

Pretty good. Andy had something unique, I noticed it even though I didn't watch too many episodes of the first season. Liam McIntyre in a way looks more like you'd imagine Spartacus to be, and acts well enough.

The green-screen backgrounds still look painfully fake. The stylishness of the series is still there.

Lol what, it's working perfectly fine here. Either the regional block was removed or it wasn't a regional block.

Just watched the second episode, and it was surprisingly introspective. I like how the slaves don't just magically create their own little utopia. The blonde one calling Spartacus' squeeze out was hella awkward.

Also I love the dialogue on this show:
"You appear as honorable man and yet attempt to slip cock in arse?"
"If I held such desire, you would be split in two"

    :awesome.

Holy shit. Just watched episode 5.It was just... wow. Spartacus is reaching new levels of bad-ass.

Also, why the fuck is every villain we get always getting fucked by their fellow Romans? It makes me want to root for Glaber which, considering history is a bad idea.

Meh, neither Batiatus nor Glaber were particularly hubristic, just ambitious. But everyone on every level seems to want to shit on them. Honestly I can see why Batiatus snapped.

Also: How do Romans train their troops? Aren't they supposed to have the most badass army at the time? They seem like the redshirts of antiquity to me. Seriously, teamwork dudes.

The ancient Roman military based much of its strength on superior logistics, technology, formations and tactics. Man to man, they weren't super-badasses and against a gladiator trained to fight one on one, would probably not curbstomp on average.

Glaber only commanded militiamen, not true legionaires, so there is that factor.

Which was my point. Discipline, tactics and teamwork is what made them special, so why rush someone trained SPECIFICALLY for one on one fighting. There are only a few exits, block them and take your time. But I get that they weren't exactly thinking clearly, which was the point. I just meant in general.

Of course, Spartacus has been very clever when picking his battlegrounds so this is all moot I guess.

I was actually waiting for the Spartacus vs Ganicus in episode 5 but I got it in this one and it was awesome. I honestly expected the blond chick to betray them but not this early on, it seems that whatever conflict Mira will have now with another woman might be with Nevia.

The Egyptian has the potential for Epicness.

Hubris: excessive pride or self-confidence; arrogance.

That sounds like Glaber to me. Batiatus was too ambitious for his social level.

Just saw the trailers. They seem to give away a lot, even if some of it is public knowledge.
