I've gotta agree with the top comments on that trailer. I'm hoping more for a remake of Ruby/Sapphire than any sequels. Make it happen GameFreak!

 

Personally I'm hoping for R/S remakes more than anything as well. I loved third gen and I never got why people said it was trash.

 

Man, I just want a 3D pokemon game. Remake Kanto in 3D on my computer.


Anyway. This looks nifty enough, the legendary pokemon are pretty cool. I await more information, hopefully a little about the story and what the differences are going to be between this "sequel" and the normal way of doing things.

 

I imagine you'll start off as a new character and progress through the game at your normal rate, eventually meeting the player character from the originals at the end of the game like Red in G/S.

Maybe Professor Juniper's dad has a more prominent role? Maybe the pokemon league will be harder as I doubt they're going to do the whole castle erupting from the Pokemon league thing again. That'd be cheap. Maybe it won't focus on pokemon but the player's quest to find their sexuality?

 

Eh, for some reason I didn't really like N at all. Went through my entire recent playthrough wishing the game would let me punch him in the face. :/

 

The main thing that really annoyed me about B/W and D/P (less so in the latter) was the amount of fucking cut scenes. I remember being able to walk into a town and not be assaulted by a wall of useless text about finding your spirit or some shit, or being dragged off to do god knows what.

Cheren points you to a pokecenter in Nacrene city. Wtf is that about? It's like you're being led by the hand through the game these days. I'll still play and enjoy them but it won't stop me being annoyed.

 

I really hope I can play this on a DS Lite, I don't want to have to buy a 3DS just to play this game.

MY ANXIETY AND WANTS AND NEEDS

New scans released show off a bit of what to expect from Black and White 2. Basically, it'll be different-y, but to sum up: Half of Unova's now frozen over, and there'll be a bunch of new cities to compensate, including two new gyms (One Poison, one Water). You start in a city in the southwest of the region, just below Driftveil. New heroes, new rival, but I don't doubt we'll get some Plasma funtime revealed to us later on, not to mention a bit of N action (Gotta finish off that story and all). Pokedex's upped to 300 from the start, and so we'll get a bunch of older gen Pokemon available from the beginning. While that's cool and all, I bet that means Zubats. Lots of Zubats.

So yeah, the different-y-ness of it all will definitely make Nuzlocking it a treat come September. Awe-some.

... is about the standard reaction to every new Pokemon protagonist ever. We'll call it gravity, hair gel, then we'll get used to it and move on.

 

Black and White 2 seems to Black and White 1 what Gold and Silver were to Red and Blue. Namely that Gold and Silver gave players a new place to explore while letting players visit a mediocre version of Kanto. Black and White 2 makes me think that Gamefreak is trying to do the reverse. Have players explore the same place, but add in a few more towns and make the old towns snowy.

Anyway I hope that they keep some main story like what the original Black and White did. Since it's a sequel do you think it may go the way of having the Black and White 1 protagonist the champion. If he is there are so many ways they can treat it, like having it so that the champion battles you with the team you used in the original Black and White. Kind of like how you can import Shepards across Mass Effect but for the champion.

 

Serebii's site didn't post Black/White Kyurem's typing- they're both Dragon/Ice.

No tripletype pokemon, for which I'm kind of glad. There IS the possibility of a dualtype move, however, as evidenced in their unique moves (named in the Serebii article).

 

Some of those ideas are awesome, but unless they've said one region only I'm praying we get to go back to Hoenn (spelling?) after we finish with Unova this time, there are ruby/sapphire feels to the cover art after all.

 

Looks like this is finally going to be the generation we don't get to see Kanto. That makes me sad. ;-;
