Interesting chapter over all and am really looking forward to that flashback, if it's going to happen.

 

My money is on no flashback until Luffy faces one of the two in a fight. I'm still assuming Aokiji will become a nakama though so I'm hoping for it and the flashback to occur during their next meeting.

 

Just because Aokiji is no longer a marine doesn't mean that he will become a pirate, there was a reason why he remained a marine even after Ohara, so him joining the strawhats or any other pirate doesn't make any logical sense, but I can see him joining the revolutionaries.

As for the flashback I think it will be better if we never see the fight in its entirety, maybe just a glimps, I think it would work better and reduces the chance of disappointment.

Am I the only one who feels like Sanji was kind of a dick this chapter, I mean telling kids that you hate them because they asked to be saved? damn, I know he didn't mean it but still damn!
So much is going on in this Island but I think everything will come together in the PH-OO8 building. Wonder if the CC are Big mums equivalent of Baroque works

 

A big part of the reason I see Aokiji joining the crew is because I think we've met most of the potential crew members. You can only add so many infamous super powered characters after you hit a certain point in the story and Luffy won't be recruiting someone weak.

That plus his desire for the Marines to be different and his subsequent loss in the fight about it leaves two options: Revolutionaries and Pirate. Pirate in general, no. Because Aokiji won't find a captain he'd respect enough to join his crew. But Revolutionary is a possibility. I think the more the story goes into revolutionaries though the less sympathy the reader will feel. So I don't think we'll see Aokiji joining them.

That leaves killing Aokiji off in some way or making him a part of Luffy's crew. Luffy has the same Revolutionary blood and he has main character likeability/importance. It's one of the few ways that make sense to keep Aokiji important and to add a new crew member without artificially inflating the crew with new characters.

It's actually the same theory I had about Smoker early on. Because I see a Marine or ex-Marine joining Luffy's crew at some point. And I don't think it'll be someone new who does so. I eliminated Smoker because I think he's obviously on his way to becoming one of Luffy's primary nemeses.

EDIT: As for Sanji, yeah he was a bit of a dick. But I think some essential part of Sanji is sometimes lost in translation.

 

You make really interesting and good points about Aokiji but to me its very hard seeing him as a Pirate and especially a straw hat, as I said just like how Luffy is passionate about being a pirate, something led to Aokiji been a marine. A better example would be Coby, he had always wanted to be a marine even after he saw that they really weren't what he had envisioned them as he stuck to that goal and became one despite having the chance had he asked, of joining Luffy who was a good guy.

The most likely scenario is him joining the Revolutionaries, IF he deems it necessary to intervene in world affairs, Robin having been with them and Iva prove that the Revolutionaries role isn't antagonistic to the story.

I agree that he will become important, but since we know that there is a war thats going to erupt soon, this means that we will be seeing all the Strawhats allies and this extends to Aokiji who I think will help in the confrontation between Akainu and Luffy.

I thought his bounty was lower than 440mil. How high is Luffy's at the moment?

 

Do you read the manga or you just look at the pictures? Luffy's bounty is at a even 400mil and Law became an Warlord over the timeskip.

 

Law must have done some crazy shit to get a bounty higher than Luffy's.
