From my understanding, Dan was a pretty impressive jonin back in his day, and that day was during the Second Shinobi war. He's the same age as Tsunade or older, so it makes sense that he might actually remember the first Hokage and Madara. It's not unreasonable to think that as a jonin, and one who wanted to be Hokage himself, he would do some serious research on the village founders, and it's not like info on either would be all that hard to find back then. If these two were really as godlike as Kishi is making them seem, any jonin looking for a leg up might find it a good idea to look into what made them powerful.

Chapter was good. First time I've been able to say that in a while. Madara continues to be hax. I actually cheered when Tsunade got impaled, but remembered the cardinal rule of Naruto characters. There can be no death without flashbacks. But that wound is pretty big, and Madara isn't about to let her go. Dan's sudden significance likely means that a reunion between the two lovers is imminent, and then Tsunade can do me a huge fucking favor and finally die.

Itachi continues to provide lulz by brushing Sasuke off, and the way he just casually took Kabuto's cackling declaration in stride while still planning to kill him was great.

Itachi: "This is going to be harder than I thought...whateves."

Does that mean Tsunade in your fics is going to die really quickly then, Inert? :p

With the Itachi stuff, it'll be funny when other ninja see/hear about him fighting Kabuto and being a good guy, their minds will break down. :)

I wonder if Kabuto really understands just who the hell he is about to fuck with. Itachi's genjustu is unrivaled isn't it? If Sasuke stays out of this long enough I wouldn't be all that surprised if Itachi genjustus Kabuto into releasing the justu.

And if it comes down to a straight fight of Itachi vs Kabuto, does Kabuto really think he can beat Itachi motherfuckng Uchiha? This is Itachi whose only equal in stats is Jiraiya.

I just wonder what role Sasuke is about to play in all of this. Kabuto wants Sasuke, Itachi won't let that happen, and Sasuke seems slightly confused about what the hell he is going to do next now.

Unless I'm mistaken, can't Kabuto just release Itachi back into the void?

I know it's unlikely to happen straight away, but remember, Orochimaru had the fortune to clash with Itachi way back when and probably spent forever trying to break down his abilities in order to counter them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kabuto can nullify the genjutsu or at least recognize enough to keep himself grounded after all of these years.

Well, it all comes to one question - does Kabuto have a kill switch in case his Edo turns against him?

Why would he have ever even considered the idea that his new improved edo could be taken advantage of? How many people have ever gotten free from in like Itachi has?

Well, the fact that something didn't happen before doesn't mean you shouldn't prepare yourself just in case. True, Kabuto may be to arrogant for that, but who knows about Tobirama? He may predict this possibility and did something to prevent anyone from using his own Edos against him.

Well seeing as literally every ninja in the world is assembled and nothing but a 'once in ten years MS ability' has been used in that regard suggests its a very unlikely scenario.

As for a built in self destruct.. You could consider that as a reason for the two versions of the technique. The weaker versions would be dependent on the users continued support, meaning the zombies could not be turned against the controller. A wise precaution against someone withan understanding of the technique.

I watched the anime ep today, and it looks like they may have just screwed up chronologically. They had a flashback with Jiraiya training the trio, and using the Rasengan to defeat a jutsu Konan threw at him. Last time I checked he met Minato after that, though, right?

My guess is that Kabuto will have some way to banish or otherwise destroy Itachi and will do so, and then get mauled by Sasuke in revenge for the deed.

I know your right about it being too earlier for the rasengan and I'm wanting to say that Minato is at most still in the Academy. I could be wrong but I'm wanting to say Nagato and company are older than Minato.

I don't think the manga ever directly states what age the characters are-barring the Konoha ninjas. However, a fan compiled together from clues the most likely ages of the characters as they would be now--LINK. It states that Pein and crew are slightly younger than Minato--Pein being between 32 and 36 years old, and Minato being between 36 and 40 years old (today). The Yondaime graduated from the Academy at age 10, so it's remotely possible that Jiraiya tutored him for a short period of time before he tutored Pein, but I would think that it would be several years after his graduation before he developed the Rasengan.

It's difficult to say whether Minato or the Rain trio were taught by Jiraiya first, but I'm more inclined to say that the Rain trio were. The Sannin were still operating as a three man cell right up until Jiraiya took on the Rain orphans, so it seems unlikely that they all would have taken on students before that point.

Besides, Minato probably didn't invent the Rasengan until he was a bit older, if he truly did get the inspiration from the Bijuu Bomb. He probably would have had to see it in action first, meaning that he would have been fighting in the war for a while.

It's a fact that the Rain trio are older and were trained first. Jiraiya thought Nagato was the Child of Prophecy...then he trained Minato and began to think that he was the Child of Prophecy. If he had taught Minato first, the thoughts would've been in a different order. There are other clues as well, besides the ones Howdy mentioned.

I don't think Itachi knows how to end the jutsu or that he can give a vague command like end the jutsu to make him do it. I'd think that it would require him command Kabuto to use the specific release command.

Nah, what you're failing to remember is that many of the details of many Genjutsu are created mostly by the mind of the victim, and not by the direct control of the one casting the Genjutsu. All Itachi has to do is give it a general direction, and Kabuto's mind would handle the rest.

Regular genjutsu can also be used to break the victim's will so they can be controlled. And Sharingan is able to hypnotise people.

Yet another reason Itachi is a terrifying son of a bitch.
