    Beamdog only, yeah.

According to Twitter it's going to be two games. Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. They're both running on an updated version of the Infinity Engine based off the code in Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, with added things like widescreen support. BGEE gets all the engine improvements added for BG2, as well as some gameplay ones. Both games stay as isometric 2D, the original voices and music are all intact and there's some new content included from the original writers.

    It all sounds pretty cool.

Have they said what system it's for yet? I'm going to assume it's for PC, right? If not, fuck that.

Can't you already do most of that with mods?

BG1Tutu transfers your BG1 game installation to the BG2 engine, including higher resolution, gameplay changes, UI changes, extra species, etc.
Bigg's Widescreen mod does what it says on the box. High res gaming for all.
The Unfinished Business mods for BG1&2 add a lot of cut and unfinished content including items, quests, dialog, and encounters.

I was hoping for a lot more than that from the new Enhanced editions.

Yeah, BG1TuTu did that pretty well for BG1 in the BG2 engine. I played the shit out of it for a good while. I can't find my BG2 disks right now though. :facepalm

It's on PC, with more info to come next week. It wouldn't surprise me to hear they're doing a Mac/iOS version too.

Sure, but modders don't have access to the source code. Beamdog should be able to do those things better.

"Baldur's Gate 3 has been our long term goal. We have a lot of things to put in place before such a project can be launched. So currently there is no such project but that's the one we want to do. Our thoughts have been that Enhanced Edition for BG 1 and 2 just make sense before there's any Baldur's Gate 3."

"We're totally thinking Kickstarter. It just makes so much sense and solves so many problems. I think what Brian [Fargo] is doing with Wasteland is very interesting."

If this is true, I really really really hope that they don't pull a Dungeon Siege 3 and fuck it all up with stupid bullshit.

I myself would love to see a BG3. I didn't really like BG2 all that much. I hope they make BG3 (whenever that is) similar to Baldur's Gat 1, instead of #2.

Cool. Hope they let people mod the game for the PC. That'd be kickass.

Mod support has already been confirmed iirc. This is on top of all the other updates coming with the game. I am very happy about this.
