I started reading this story way back and have forgotten the name, maybe someone here knows it.

Harry start using muggle methods to go after Deatheaters Frank Castle style, going out and gunning them down in a trenchcoat.He also has Bellatrix held captive for information, so there's a good chance they get together eventually.

I'd like to give you more to go on, but its been so long I've totally lost track.

 

Just from the title I thought you were talking about HI POWER, but that's not it. Still, might want to read it.

 

I remember reading a semi-decent story along those lines, but it was years ago... like... when I was sixteen, so I can't give you super specific details.

I remember that Bellatrix was definitely a prisoner kept in the basement of Grimmauld Place and she and Harry had some sexual tension going. The war had been raging for like 5 years and the trio had all become killing machines. Harry was an expert with magical firearms, Hermione had mastered an assortment of enchanted daggers, blades, and throwing knives, and Ron just beat people to death with his bare hands, you know... breaking necks and caving skulls with a single blow.

I'm relatively sure it was written in between Order and HBP and had a generic "Harry Potter and the" name. Check the Harry/Bellatrix fics published from 2003 to 2005.

 

I remember a few stories which had Harry using guns. One - I think by Rorschacht's Blot - started with Vernon handing him a handgun.

Though the whole premise only worked / works for parodies. As far as I remember the stories which had been intended to be taken seriously ended bad.

I'll try and find it again. My sixteen-year-old self and I now have vastly different opinions on what qualifies as a 'good' fic, but I remember a few scenes from this one that were really memorable. For example: Ron engaging Harry in a 'combat training' sparring session, where he then proceeds to break every bone in Harry's legs (Harry wouldn't stay down) in order to teach him the importance of 'withdrawing to fight another day' in no-win scenarios. Also, Rudolphus Lestrange getting sniped from a mile away while in the middle of torturing some random muggle girl was great... mainly because it was told from the perspective of the girl and involved getting splattered by brain matter.

It might have been terrible, but reading fics with a non-useless!Ron is almost always worth my time.

 

That's the fic I meant, though obviously not the one the OP asked for. Rorschacht rarely mentions Ron in his stories.

That's one of my reasons to read that.

 

@Minion - not all stories with Harry using guns end bad. It just takes the right author (like Swimdraconian) to make it work well.

 

Yes... not all... but most. Sturgeon's Law, my friend. It governs everything. It is the reason DLP exists.

 

While it's probably not what the OP is seeking, DobbyElfLord's Sniper is a long, readable oneshot where Harry guns down Death Eaters. (I didn't care so much for the sequel).
