    Right or Easy, by razzle-dazzle-me.

When Harry gets betrayed by everyone, and it's revealed that he was summoned there to take care of Voldemort. All along he believed he'd traveled back in time as his own decision. It blew me away with how epic, horrific, and well-executed it was.

Harry tried to get the hell out of England, but got intercepted at the airport. He starts fighting half the Order, but eventually he gets spelled in the back by Cho, who'd he'd been planning on leaving with, but didn't know she was a member of the Order and complicit in their plot. He was like a berserk, crazed animal and vowed bloody revenge.

    It was awesome.

That was also where it was abandoned...

I read it again but my conclusion now and back then was that the writer ruined the story the last 3-4 chapters. It wasn't coherent and it made no sense to me. Back then I felt like I was trolled and I can't see the well execution at all because it doesn't match with the beginning of the story.

If he was actually summoned which he was not then I can see the horror involved but what happened was Harry's decision and the writer has shown that the other characters didn't know him at all nor trusted him. They needed Snape to slip through his protection to get an idea which lead to this dinner with the order. Everything changed the next chapter and I'm betting that there was a huge time gap in the writing process where the writer lost the track of his own story.

I'll always remember the time Vash and I spent several hours in IRC planning out one of his stories, While the Lily white shall in love delight.

We came up with so many ideas for that story that it was crazy. We planned it all in the main chatroom instead of private messaging. We must have gone non-stop for four hours, at least. Xiph and DGD kept entering and leaving the chatroom, screaming HEUR and something else I can't quite recall.

Some of the ideas are still things I want to see in stories today. I still have the logs saved on my computer, along with Midknight's plans for his old story that he emailed me years ago.

It also reminds me of when Nuhuh and I came up with one of the ideas in his story, "Demon's Feign, Merlin's Pain". We thought it up a good two or so years before he ever got it 'written down on paper' so to speak, and I will never forget the first time I read the scene I had been waiting so long for.

The scene is where Harry releases Voldemort on the Merlin. It isn't even the fight that captures me the most, but the interaction between Harry and Voldemort, as allies - however unwilling. Some of the lines are just amazing and I liked how he made Voldemort resemble his younger self. He even gave a reason for why Harry made him that way in the story - because even he was afraid of what Voldemort become later on.

    Simply awesome.

    TFTCD:

In hindsight it is super dramatic and more than a little cringe, but it is the only fanon character death that has really stuck with me after years.

    @enembee's post

Now admittedly I only skimmed it, but I’d bet bacon to blowjobs that scene was from To Fight the Coming Darkness, right?

Incidentally, even if I’m wrong, that Fic had the only Ginny killoff I thought was really well done

It is, but hardly a difficult guess to make, considering I said it was. :D

    Oh, so you did.

Hold on, is TFTCD actual slang? Because if I’m required to recognise a five digit abbreviation I should probably quit now :D

How about the moment in Skitterleap when Tom Riddle smashes the world’s only Time-Turner?

That was pretty cool, and whichever author (I forget who) wrote that story should really go for the sequel :awesome

    Anything but Slytherin.

It was one of the first Harry Potter fanfics I read and I still haven't come across a story that portray's the dark side as evil as the light side was portrayed in that fic.

One of the greatest moments comes from Harry Potter and the Black Hearted Aurors when Harry stands up to Dumbledore for the first time. Powerful scene that made you realize Oh shit, Harry's really doing this. And it affected Harry emotionally, profoundly, taking that step.

It amazes me that, out of hundreds of Independent!Harry fics, this is the single, lone story that made real drama out of Harry beginning to break from Dumbledore. Shame that story's abandoned too.

Two years ago I read a story, Harry Potter and the Wasted Opportunity by Christina-Potter-09 on FF.net. The story was very fluffy and basically centered around the relationship of Harry and Hermione, needless to say, it was just a time-pass.

But, it all changed in the epilogue. The epilogue in the story was probably the best I have ever read, which includes published stories too. In the last chapter Hermione dies due to illness(which is not evident till the mid-chapter) and the scenes described to portray Harry's emotion was truly magnificent.

Now, when I read it, it doesn't have the same attraction, but still, for me it remains one of the best.

Reading Dark Syaoran post made me read Demon's Feign, Merlin's Pain again. That line where Harry tells them what they have to face:

"Look upon He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and know darkness!"

That was inspired. The Dark Lord as described in that fic is the one I hope to see in every other one. The duels in that story are also fantastic.

I've already listed some of my favorite fanfic moments, but a very recent one that is chock fulll of good one-liners and attitude is Water Mage's From the Brightest Constellation.

    Harry has just
defeated an Outsider only to find himself surrounded by unfriendly White Council members.

In fact, almost all the things revealed in Harry's diaries are overflowing with awesome.
