No, I'm not glad PC players are getting fucked, I'm glad PS3 players are being shown some love, even though it's at the expense of PC players.

Selfish? Perhaps. I'm sure I'd be annoyed if I was playing on the PC.

Good PC controls =/= Bad PS3 controls.

I honestly do not understand what logic you're using here - them creating decent PC controls has no bearing on the PS3 controls that will likely be good regardless. Console players aren't being shown any love here, PC players are just being shown disregard as usual.

This news doesn't mean console players will be better off at all - nothing has changed, or would have changed if they put a bit of effort into a PC UI/control scheme.

Above all it's just fucking laziness, which doesn't bode well for the rest of the game, and for some reason is just generally acceptable in game development nowadays - obviously, it seems now, because the majority of players seem to be as pig ignorant about the process as Republic21.

I don't see what the big deal would be to be assigning someone to map controls to a keyboard and mouse. Is it really going to affect production that much..? The release date for PC is gonna be later anyways so couldn't it be done in that window of time?

... Anyway, I played AC1 on the Xbox originally. Since I'm used to that control scheme, I'll probably play it with a controller when I get around to replaying it, and finally playing the sequel, on my PC. I did the same with Arkham Asylum/City.

Still, you know, there's a difference between using a controller by choice and using one because there's no way to play it otherwise.

Yes, it could, and it wouldn't affect production time at all.

The issue is, more and more game companies are catering to console players and the "casual" crowd, because it's more likely for a console player to actually buy and own the game.

Basically, they're punishing PC gamers for a small but vocal minority pirating games. It's bullshit, but them's the breaks. One of the ways to fix it is to put ridiculous DRM into your games. Another way is to make it impossible to play without a controller.

    Ubisoft does both.

Honestly, while console piracy is admittedly scarcer than on a PC, it still isn't anything to disregard. There just seems to be some mindset in the gaming industry today that the PC isn't worth putting the proper effort into developing for, so we get shitty ports and are repeatedly shafted.

I remember some Ubisoft/EA/Activision (I've forgotten who exactly, and can you really blame me?) rep made some comments a while ago that their game wasn't going to be released on PC because "they'd all just pirate it anyway". I really don't know where this misconception comes from - I mean, Blizzard and Valve are some of the most succesful devs out there and they produce predominately for the PC (admittedly less so in Valve's case though). There is no way piracy is that bad a problem that there isn't any point to selling your game on the platform.

So that leaves the question as to why developers are so reluctant to properly support PC gamers, and the only thing I'm left with is sheer laziness. The variety and nature of PC's means they're much more difficult to develop for than consoles, and this makes them a less appealing option to developers. They seem to have taken this to the extreme and many only offer token ports with little to no effort put into them - my favourite being when it stills tells you to press on a console controller button to do something.

Sounds like something Bobby Kotick would say, so I'm gonna go with Activison.

:facepalm U mad bro? Don't worry I was more or less trolling. If I lost the use of my computer I'd probably cry and not just because of the lack of porn.

When I played 2 and up on the PC, it's always with a controller. The keyboard bindings they use are clusterfucked, and it's just more intuitive with a controller for this particular series. I can't think of any other series I'd rather play with a controller than this one, but it's mostly just because their controls and UI for keyboard and mouse are ass.

This came out a bit ago but it hasn't been posted here yet. The trailer uses actual gameplay footage. Keep in mind this is stuff before even beta testing and still with about 5 months of development left before a playable version is necessary.

    Still channeling some Mel Gibson.

    Shiny new trailer of awesomeness.

And a new gameplay demo. Some of the new combat features look briliant; human shield to protect from bullets, hells yeah.

Well, we've always been able to take on armies by ourselves in the AC games, especially in the later installments. They know it too, and shamelessly flaunt it in this trailer.

Gameplay looked awesome as all hell though. If I had any reservations as the whole forest free-running, they're gone now.

Not sure if you guys caught this one, or not, too...

Fracking naval battles! I had no idea this was in the game from any of the promo materials, until Kotaku linked to this video ...I also had no idea how much I wanted there to be naval battles until I saw this footage.

    Check it out.

Well, I'll probably still wait for it to go on sale, but if they keep making it look this badass I might even shell out the full price!

The naval battles look fun, but, honestly, I thought the same of the tower defense minigame when it was revealed to be in Revelations. I think I'll reserve judgment on this one.

What? Even from the trailer, the tower deffense looked bad at best. The naval battles look awesome.

I'll wait until I see all the E3 details before passing judgement. The naval fights do look sweet though.

I'm still very curious as to the story. Something that I felt had gone stale in ACB and ACR. Also the trail running looks boss. The combat looks quick. Hopefully you aren't completely invincible and the fighting is actually challenging.
