I'll go one a book, because I'm cool that way:

    - PS: The traps on the way to the Stone. Cool, magic-y, adventure-y. Tense and emotive in places. Just plain fun.

    - CoS: Harry and Ron putting together the Basilisk mystery, and how everything slides into place. When I was younger, this stuck with me as a great culmination scene, and although I hardly felt scared what with the random petrifications, but imagining the giant monster snake going around and doing the deed made me shiver and stuff.

    - PoA: Same as Silens mentioned, and another great culmination of plot points. Lupin's werewolf reveal especially stood out to me, and rereading that entire section will never get old.

    - GoF: Probably the series of chapters where Harry gets shat on by the press and the rest of the school for being the Champion. That he overcomes it like he does with his performance in the tasks was pure underdog heroing, and I loved that.

    - OoTP: If we're talking memorable, the pure anger I felt at Umbridge and all the shit she pulled was legendary in my teenage form. That utter cunt. But if we're talking favourite/best, I dunno, it was all pretty awesome to me at the time, and still is.

    - HBP: The scenes after Dumbledore's death. The grief, the disbelief, the anger, the sadness, the everything. When they were retelling what happened in the fight with the Death Eaters, and for a moment it looked like more people had died (IE Bill), that was so... hollow, like, Dumbledore was dead and there were gonna be hella more to come. Shit was getting real-er. Just stuck with me.

    - DH: Harry's final walk down to the forest. Fuck it, by this point I can safely say I still love this book and HBP.

Hermione hitting Malfoy in PoA (I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet).

Dumbledore dealing with the Dursleys in HBP and the final line of that chapter: "And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure." That line gave me so much hope for the book to come.

Fudge's fear about Voldemort returning in GoF. I really felt his terror.

    McGonagall vs Snape in DH.

You know, I love this thread. It's helping remind me why I loved the books in the first place.

I think at the end of POA when Wormtail escapes and Harry's hope of staying with his godfather were quashed, it summed up his life. The poor boy, lost his last chance of whatever childhood, he could have had, at that age.

The scene after that was also one of the finest, when Harry rescues Sirius with help of Hermione.

Loss of Hedwig too was somewhat emotional.

Another scene, when in Snape's memory, Dumbledore is truly disgusted with Snape, that he only wants Lily safe and not her family. No doubt Snape looked very brave at the end, but that particular scene was testament to his true nature.

It's cheesy I know, especially since I enjoy H/Hr so much, but the entire sequence of events at Godric's Hollow. I always felt that the dynamic between the two of them after Ron left was some of the best character writing Rowling did. Whether or not you think they would have worked as a couple, their unbreakable friendship really shines through there.

Equally, but in the opposite manner, Ron returning in the Forest of Dean, and Harry welcoming him back without so much as a second thought. I still cringe when I read that, it just comes across so badly.

What I found worse is Hermione actually taking Ron back after the guy walked out on her.

Regardless I liked the Books and Cleverness Speech around the end of PS, Harry fighting the basilisk , the Dumbledore vs Voldemort duel in OoTP and the Godric's Hollow scene ( easily the deepest relationship between any of the couples in the books IMHO) .

Probably weird, but my favorite line actually comes from Fudge.
    I don't even know why.

I love the scene in DH where on Christmas Eve Harry and Hermoine visit Godric's Hollow and visit James and Lily's grave because it gives Harry a sense of closure and reminds him of what he's fighting for; also the inscription on the tombstone gave me chills for some reason: "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."

I really like Hermoine's reactions to the HBP's potions book in HBP, it's often overlooked, but in my opinion it shows that Hermoine is just as capable of being immature and insecure as Ron is, it also justified my hatred of her character in general.

Finally, Harry's reaction in PoA where he finds out that Sirius Black was not only "responsible" for his parent's death but Harry's godfather as well was incredibly emotional.

The section in the cave from HBP has a whole host of great stuff in it (Dumbledore being awesome, that sadistic potion, the fire-storm), but especially the line at the end of the chapter.

    "Don't worry Professor."
"I am not worried, Harry. I am with you."

Actually, looking up that quote has reminded me of loads of stuff that I liked from HBP. Harry standing up to Scrimgeour, both times but especially the first. The humour throughout. The sheer "Holy shit" of Snape killing Dumbledore. And, at the risk of getting the virtual shit kicked out of me, I actually quite liked it when Harry and Ginny got together. It was cheesy as fuck, but it was sweet, and I genuinely think that the biggest canon problem with the 'ship is how little time is spent on it (and Ginny herself).

    Edit:

The troll scene in PS. The Duelling Club in CoS (I love Lockhart, and it's one of the only reasons I can still even think about watching the secon film; Branagh's performance is hysterical). The first time we see the Dementors in PoA. Most of Goblet of Fire, which is probably my favourite book in the series.

The Dumbledore and Snape scene on the hill in DH. I loved everything about it from Dumbledore's appearance to his utter disgust for Snape to the insight it gave into Snape's character.

Dobby dying. It's one of the scenes from DH that stands out the most to me.

I mostly disliked H/G Ron and Hermione always struck me as an odd pair but very workable. Therefore the scene where Hermione kisses Ron for his concern for the house elves is actually pretty great.

Everything with Dobby other than his death, that little fuck is hilarious.

"Not my daughter, you bitch!" - Molly

Whenever, I read this line, I just laugh.

"We did it, we bashed them, wee Potter’s the one, and Voldy’s gone moldy, so now let’s have fun!" - Peeves.

Peeves always was the funny one.

There's a minor scene that for some reason stuck with me in OotP. It's in Grimmauld Place, when Moody pulls Harry aside and shows him the photograph of the old Order.

Strange scene to get attached to, eh? But I think what did it for me is that Harry's way of thinking - if perhaps a bit angsty - was like that of an adult, rather than a child. It was one of the few moments that we had seen to that point in which Harry thought like an adult-in-waiting.

One of the scenes that stuck with me is the opening chapter of GoF. Maybe it's because I read GoF a really long time after I read the previous books, but that chapter was just...perfect. It was quite possibly the perfect opening in any of the Harry Potter books, and it was when I realised how 'dark' this book was going to be. Matter of fact, the initial chapters are all absolutely fantastic.

And I agree with what was said earlier, that PoA scenes in the Shrieking Shack were also amazing.

DH had another one of my favourite moment, Harry walking down to his death. For some reason, the best part about that scene was when he encounters Neville and just tries to act all normal.

    Also, Fred's death. Fucking hell.

I never liked that scene. As I saw it, there was a big difference between what happened to Ginny and what could have been happening to Harry. Any sympathy I might have felt was overshadowed by my annoyance with her.

    And a scene:
Poor Neville. I wonder what the series would have been like if it had been Neville had been the BWL and protagonist.

That questions been asked about a million times.

    All detentions are sinister.

    GOF- Pensieve scene.

OOTP- The scene where they all easedrop and learn Harry/Voldemort share a connection, and though everyone trys to play it off, you can litrally feel the tension.

HBP- Harry getting the memory from Slughorn.

DH- The scene in the great hall with Harry/Snape. (movie)
