"Acting" being the predominant word. He was trying to get Sasuke on his side so it's natural for him to make himself as sympathetic as possible.

On the Sasuke/Itachi angle, I'm mostly expecting Itachi to lay the groundwork whilst Naruto finishes the job (which is how he normally seems to do it).

 

If that's the case, then I'll agree with you.

So let us wait, and hope.

I know, we're dealing with the Uchiha section of the Manga, not exactly something we're often pleased with, but now and again he does come through.

Hopefully it's not as easy as it's shaping up to be, and if it is, well.. that's what fanfiction is for, no?

That would be my second preferred outcome. With "Sacrificing himself to make up for his evil deeds" only slightly ahead.

 

Redemption via self-sacrifice is the most likely outcome, IMO. It would be kind of symbolic with how Sasuke acted back when he was cool.

Considering that Itachi keeps telling Sasuke to wait till after they deal with Kabuto before talking, i.e, end the Edo Tensei, which is keeping Itachi alive, he probably won't be doing much redeeming. If they get Kabuto to end the Edo, no more Itachi.

 

Since Itachi has broken the control Kabuto had over him, which is a totally unique situation for an Edo Tensei Zombie, Itachi could easily survive the dispelling of the ET and stick around if the author wants it. Not sure if that would actually be a good thing, but it would not totally screw any pre-existing canon either since there has never been a case like Itachis.

And even if he will dispel, there are still ways for him to talk to Sasuke. He could just do the obvious and talk before giving Kabuto (who at this point would have lost and is trapped in his genjutsu) the command to end ET. Or he could use Tsukyomi on Sasuke a second before ET dispels, giving them what, three days to talk due to the time difference thing. Though I could see Itachi planning on betraying his promise. Itachi heard from Naruto that Sasuke intends to destroy the leaf to avenge Itachis suffering. Maybe he hopes to break any warm feelings Sasuke has towards him with this final mindfuck, so Sasuke will decide that Itachi is not worth avenging. That would potentially make it easier for Naruto finish the job, since Sasuke seems far more obsessed with Itachi than he is with the fact that his parents/clan were killed. Maybe because his clan really did plan a coup and so actually were committing treason.

I am more interested if edo!Madara is going to dispel actually. I mean strictly speaking he was summoned not by Kabuto personally, but edo!Muu, even if Muu was just obeying Kabutos commands. That would still give Kabuto control over Madara, since he summoned and controls Muu, who summoned and controls Madara. But this might be a potential loophole by Kabuto that not only allows Madara to remain even if Kabuto is defeated, but makes Madara completely unsummonable since ending the original ET and killing Kabuto would get rid of Muu, who as Madaras true summoner would be the only one who could get rid of Madara. A contingency "fuck you" by Kabuto in case of the worst scenario maybe.

Madaras current orders seem to leave him pretty free willed, so taking out ET/Kabuto now might actually make things worse by releasing an immortal EMS/Rinnegan/Mokuton Madara to join Tobi in whatever their plans are. In this case, being brought back via Edo Tensei would actually be better than the original plan to bring him back via Nagatos Rinne Tensei, since he got Hashiramas face and immortality from the deal. I would also find it amusing if after all this yahoo about Itachi using Izanami and everything to defeat Kabuto in a grand battle, he actually ends up making things worse.

 

Anyone have predictions on what Izanami does?

 

Muu may have summoned Madara but Kabuto was the one to resurrect him.

 

I don't think that Kishimoto is clever enough, nor would the publishing studio allow him to use such a difficult-to-understand subject in a children's manga, but I'd like to see a causality-reversal power. "Izanagi has the power to change fate, Izanami has the power to decide it." Izanagi--change reality to the user's needs; Izanami--decide the end result, then have reality follow the end script. Cool concept, no?

 

And that's when The Doctor shows up and bitch-slaps every single Uchiha in existence for even thinking of doing such a thing.

He only allows space/time ninjutsu to exist because they are effectively teleportation techniques, rather than actually bending reality to the user's will.

If Izanagi makes you blind, what does Izanami do? These mega techniques just seem stupid. One changes reality, the other...'decides' it? What the fuck does that even mean?

 

Izanami goes back in time and saps your ancestral lines Sharingan to the nth degree as its cost of activation, but it resets the rest of the timeline as the user desires; thus preventing the Uchiha massacre, Sasuke's rebellion, and every other event that focused around the eye techniques.

Itachi only learned of it from the Sage's spirit in the afterlife.
