We have now the title and the blurb.

Well, it sounds alright I suppose. Probably wouldn't read it normally, but I'm curious how JKR will manage outside of Harry Potter series.

Sounds boring as fuck, to be honest, but we'll see how it turns out.

Sounds like one of those British crime novels à la Midsomer Murders. If it is, right up my alley. Seems like a definite read at the moment.

Yeah, this really doesn't look like the kind of book I'd normally read, but I probably will anyway just because of the author. It looks disappointingly common, there's nothing in the blurb that jumps out and makes me particularly interested.

Doesn't exactly grab me, and war appearing every other word in the blurb irritates me. Might check it out.

Sounds Alright? It sounds like she wrong a book on some boring fucks boring life. An attempt at slice of life, but a boring one.

And as far as Sesc's murder mystery goes, I'd read it if thats the case. I just have little hope of her pulling it off as anything short of sub-par.

What a horrible blurb and title combination. I am not reading a book titled "The Casual Vacancy".

Yeah, I'll wait until someone here has read it and gives their verdict before picking this one up.

Hmmmm. Seems bland, but I'll read it because her name is on it.... as will the rest of the world.

Add in a mysterious stranger who just came to town, and you've got Needful Things.

Well, yes. As far as blurbs go it sounds alright, says what she's trying to write and it reminds to be seen how well she will do.

That said, I think she should add some fantasy elements to it to make it more interesting than countless books about the same topic. And because trying to escape your own source of fame usually gives much worse results than embracing it and expanding from there.

Also, the word "war" really appears a lot. Actually that gives me an idea for similar story where people of the small town would be literally at war with each other, having armies, weapons and everything else. The Alliance of Teenagers, with their own inter conflict (like the Council of Geek vs. the Cult of Popularity), fighting against the Pact of Adults, that has its own problems with uneasy relationship between the Brotherhood of Husbands and the Sisterhood of Wives. Or something like that. ;)

Surprisingly enough, my own written post was going to be "Sounds as boring as fuck", heh.

If there are more than a couple deaths, I'll be reading this, but it'll be the body count and the plot bringing me not JKR's name.

    And Pagford.

So far, three out of three names involved - the dead mayor, the city, the title - have been retarded. :/

This is coming from the woman who named a school Hogwarts. Don't expect genius in the naming department.

Apparently people in England care a lot more about local elections than Americans. Also, war.
