Awesome :) Does anybody know if the North America servers are divided east and west?

Any idea how to actually get through the forums? No matter what I try to select my screen is static. No loading, nothing whatsoever.

I'm reasonably sure that North America is the same server... it may even have technically included Central and South America in the first Guild Wars, but I can't say for sure on the latter point.

    Forums are not enabled yet.

    Beta rolecall:

Who here will be playing this weekend and what profession are you choosing? I'm leaning towards engineer right now.

http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/Gw2.exe this was the link from the forums.

Or you can use the last beta client and it will update

Edit: There are no "special servers". Language is client side. No PvP or RP servers. No East or West coast servers either. ^MK

By the way, if anybody else read this blog post:
Choosing and Transferring Worlds in Guild Wars 2

For the purpose of the Beta at least, since 'Guesting' will not be enabled, will the people of DLP try to select the same 'Homeworld', or do many of you already have other plans to join unrelated friends? If we are, we should definitely select one sooner, rather than later. The same most definitely applies come release, if we want to do any WvW together.

I'm relatively impartial as to name selection, although I imagine that certain names might innately lead to more populated servers(Kaineng, Deldrimor, Eternal Grove, for example). Would you prefer a server that may already be more populated right from the beginning, to benefit its WvW success and ranking(but also be more likely to be over-populated too) or... something else?

I'm down for having a designated DLP world. Now's the time to do it, before people get settled in. I'm in the US, but from what I can tell it doesn't make a huge difference to play overseas, so whatever.

I'm planning on playing a Ranger. I'm debating whether to be a dick and name him Aragorn just to be that guy and deny everyone else the opportunity.

You can have multiple people when the same name; the numerical code on the end of your name is so people can tell you apart. Sorry, pdo.

Well, I've messed around a bit on the following link with a few professions, although my main intent is for playing the Mesmer and Ranger.
    GW2Tools Skills Calculator

It includes the currently know Skills and Traits. Trait combinations can certainly create some interesting niche builds, like the following Trapper Ranger, with 20% cdr for Traps, increased Trap AoE, double the duration for conditions caused by Traps, and the ability to ground-target traps rather than them being placed underneath you only.(that and 20% increased condition duration and 10% increased condition damage) I grabbed 20 in Marksmanship for some extra damage, and 10 in Nature Magic, for the self+allies condition removal on a dodge roll, since the build is designed to put a Trap in all three Utility slots. I took Short Bow and Axe/Dagger to really lay on the conditions as per the build, with the Axe being there so I don't miss on the Chilled status from not having the related Trap.

All in all, it's a more supportive build, but it can dish out a fair bit of AoE damage from the stacked and layered conditions(burning, poison and bleeding being liberally applied). Mass-Condition(Guardian has multiple ways to clear all conditions at once, for example) removal builds would be the obvious bane, but there are enough ways to apply them, that even they would be hard-pressed to keep the conditions off.

Well, it's not really what I would play normally, but it could be fun to try out.

I'm fairly certain the Character names have to be unique. Or are they tied to your account like "Aragorn [pdo91.xxxx]" or something?

I'm in! Thinking of going Charr Warrior and maybe a Norn Ranger. Not sure if I'll try out all the classes or just stick to a few, I'll see how it goes at the time. Pretty damn excited now.

Fen, you're awesome, but the site goes down every once and a while. It will come back if you give it time.

    Why, thank you...

Anyway, it was my first time visiting the website, and it's not completely unheard of for sites to disappear. If nothing else, it was the fact that instead of going to a splash page about the site going down, it just went to the search browser, and it couldn't find the site.

    WE NEED A SERVERRRRRR.

Fenraellis can pick one since he is the DLP that I associate with this game.

Eh... but due to circumstances, I won't be in this Beta Weekend >_>

A little bit of, working on a project that wasn't quite ready by the last day, but the professor is allowing me to turn it in up until he has to post grades on the 7th... and a lot of bit of not currently having more than three dollars in the bank at the moment, and desperately trying to obtain employment so that I can even stay in my apartment next month.

I do have at least $5,500 or so coming in from FAFSA in August for the Fall Semester, so I should be able to convince a friend of mine to get me the game in the interim, hopefully much sooner rather than later, but it won't be in time for this weekend.

Anyway, depending on how valid this link is, it may be helpful to choose one that is not too populated, but also not too empty. This would mean that the world would likely not be flooded, but that there would also be enough people for successful WvW. If I had to choose any particular one based upon the intended populace, and fits the above criteria, I would get the people from GW2 Guru, since I actually visit that forum from time to time. That said, I must admit that the server name of "Yak's Bend" isn't very inspiring, hehe.

    -----
So, I appreciate the thought, SmileOfTheKill, but for this Beta Weekend at least, it may be best for me to pass the torch, as I will not be participating.
