I have been a game master since 2005, and playing for at least eight. (Was kind of a scary realization when my neighbor and I realized that it has been 8 years already since the first game we played.)

Supposedly I'm one of those Story-first, everything else second kind of people ;D.

On irc rpg's... I have tried them once or twice, and they are a pain in the ass. The response time is slow, the combat is impossibly slow and there is nothing there that can't be done better in a forum, where nobody CARES about the speed. So I'm not going to either play or gm there, sorry.

On that note, I had run a few games in different forums around half a year each. And in two weeks I would probably have some of my time back, so if there is a demand, I might decide to do a rules light forum game (frpg) insted of a VtM pbm I was thinking about.*

The systems list I have played at least twice or used in one of my own games:
Kariai ir Magai, D&D, GURPS, VtM, WtA, HtR, Over the Edge, Star Wars d20, Black Company d20, Sorcerer, Dark Heresy, Risus, Dust Devils, Don't Rest Your Head, Amber Diceless, Werewolf - The Forsaken, the (new) World of Darkness, Fiasco, Houses of the Blooded, Witcher 4d4, Noble Blood The last two are homebrews for witcher and a setting similar to game of thrones.

*Dunno about the logistics of finding a corner somewhere.

All I've played is Pathfinder, but I'd be interested in trying others if no one is up for PF.

Heh. I was only having a laugh. I did end up "accidentally" murdering one of our group's members by repeatedly blasting him with lightning after he got impaled by a corpse collector which was about to kick our asses. He'd been annoying the whole group for weeks, the DM gave me a high-five when he left for work. :v

Well I was playing an old mage who encountered some strange metal golem that kept calling us meat bags. Well it used some weird wand on the fighter and cleric knocking them both out and the other mage shot a light dagger that missed. I decided being the cowardly, I mean intelligent mage that I am to hide underground. When I got close to it I used my shape metal spell to turn it into a big ball of yarn er chain. I'd rather not join any internet games right now.

I liked the 3.5 and Forgotten Realms setting. I've read quite a few of those books too (Drizzt, Cale, Phaerun, etc).

I've been doing PnP rpg's for a few years now, and I've been gming for the last 4 years, in which time I've done vastly more gming than playing. I'm finishing up Uni atm, so I won't have the time to any rpg online for a while, but once I do I'd love to try and get something organised. We tried to get a DFRPG organised at the end of last year, but it fell apart from a couple of the players failing to communicate or finish their characters.

Systems and Settings I've done in the past include, but are not limited to:

WFRP, GURPS, DnD 3.5 and 4, Traveller, Dr Who, Dresden Files, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Dark Heresy, Dark Heresy Ascension, Dragon Warriors, Hero, L5R, Paranoia, Scion (Hero and Demi God), Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek.

And so many homebrew systems/settings I can't recall them all right now.

As I say, once my life settles down a bit I'll see about trying to organise something. I'd prefer to run by Skype or Google Hangout, than on IRC. A bit more dynamic and interactive.

I've played a few games on IRC/Maptools and I had a great time, although the only games I've played so far have been DLP ones. I'm fine with playing anything, and as for when I can play, my timetable has been changing a lot this year but if it's from 9-5 Aus time I probably can't play.

The sooner the west coast secedes from the rest of you bastards, the better. I'll laugh as you all drown in debt and chronic unemployment without WA propping you up. :p

Oh please. There's more people in Sydney than there is in WA, NT, and SA combined.

I play DnD (4e, but I know 3.5) and I also do Play-by-post over at DnDOG. At this time, I'd rather not do IRC, though.

In the words of my pal Aximus, "Our Magic Dog Robot drawn jury-rigged Chariot just took flight through the power of positive thinking and bad singing."

I've never actually sat down and played a pen and paper game. Would love to learn though, any good one to start off with or is it just easier to find someone who already plays and harass them in RL.

Legacy, its probably best to find people irl to start out gaming with if you can. Look at any local universities, see if they have a roleplaying society, and also look at hobby and gaming stores near where you live. If there isn't a gaming group run out of the store, they might know about a group in the local area.

I'm reviving the thread before it dies completely.
I haven't received a surge of time by any stretch of imagination, nor will I get one in the future, but I'm up for a summer forum game if there are any any test-subjects, and by that I mean players.

I'm up to Gm'ing one of these three sets:
Fantasy - something about a summoning a daemon and rituals in medieval fantasy world.
Sci-Fi - a spaceship command in an unfamiliar sector, very loosely based on Dragon Never Sleeps
Urban fantasy - something about mortal's criminal ring in (old) wod, probably with traces of VtM.

The system - something of a very light xd10 family. With light character creation.

Volunteers can apply here, stating their preference, I'll start figuring out what, how and where if there's 4 or more. If there are I figure the first day of summer is as good as any for a start.

If it's a play by post style game then I can probably make it, Fantasy being my preferred genre.

I'm up for it and I'm good with any of those three options.

What about a Skype conference setup instead?

Yes, I'm talking about play by post, somewhere in forum, or whatever else, leaving the activity confined somewhere near dlp. It's easy to find time for 3+ replies a day, and that takes care of most forum games.

For a Skype game, I'd have to find time for a full session. It's a bit simpler, if I find that time, to call a few friends and play in person.

Besides, DLP is a place with writer-ish people, a forum game should have some unusual, yet fun flourish.
