I'm curious now, having read that article. Precisely where in the military heirarchy do the Autobots fit, given the co-operation given to Michael Bay over the Transformers films?

Saw it last night, thought it was awesome. I spent the next hour fielding questions, but that's beside the point. Generic theater shenanigans aside (That one guy who won't shut up, the people behind you who cannot sit still, etc.), it was worth it.

I'm just annoyed that I missed what Hulk said after he threw Loki around like a ragdoll because my entire theater was laughing so hard. Also, question, what was the joke about him punching his entire team? As far as I saw, he only ever actually punched Thor, and back-handed Black Widow.

    Iron Man/Captain America/Thor fight was boss-tier.

Thor and Hulk had the fight on the Helicarrier that was stopped by the pilot in the jet shooting at him w/ the minigun. Hulk punching Thor out of the shot seemed to be to settle the argument that Hulk was the strongest. It also had this petty spin on it that I loved.

And after slapping Loki around, Hulk says 'puny god' because Loki seemed to be all talk and BS while Thor can put up a decent fight.

I think he said something like "Puny god", but everyone was laughing too hard in my theater too. :v

Saw it, and aside from missing a little (my son's bestest buddy had to pee right when
Ruffalo Hulked out and starting smashing on the Flying Worm Robot Of Death. By the time we got back Hulk and Thor were finishing it off. At least I got to see Hulk punch Thor out of the picture. That was fucking hilarious - my second favorite moment behind Hulk bitchslapping Loki.
That alone was (almost) worth the price of admission.

For the record, the claymation movie is Pirates: Band of Misfits. I've heard from several people that it's hilarious and very well done, so Avast There, Weekend!

/pats self on back for his terrific powers of deduction.

Not only were people clapping *way* too much at the end (especially during the at best mildly amusing diner scene), there was a little kid *singing* during the early part. I shit you not. I nearly had a fucking stroke.

I thought the same thing. Yes, he was Grawp-huge, but I remember Hulk being like 25-30 feet tall. Still, he was pretty much my favorite part.

I fucking LOVED that part. I had it in my head from here and there that
Hulk was going to rip Loki in half, which in my opinion would have put this movie into the stratosphere.
    But alas, no.

    AHAHAHAHA. Captain Britain

/shakes head, laughs until he cries.

By that reasoning, there's also an alternate world out there where she looks like her avatar.

Where do you think they got the idea for G.I. Joe? As if that weren't bad enough, there's going to be a G.I. Joe 2. If there is any justice in the world, it will involve Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

In GI Joe 2, the Rock's muscles are bigger than his head. Things are just getting stupid. Live action off a cartoon that had action figures shooting red and blue lasers at one another. My favorite parts of GI Joe and Transformers were the PSAs anyway.

Bumblebee taught me to have reflectors on my bike when I ride at night. He saved my life.

Don't be silly now Fiat, we all know that the possible existence of aliens is much more realistic than any scenario where the US has to actually work with other countries in an international organisation without them being the supreme overlords, even when said "international" body is made up of only Americans.

Yeah, I remember him much bigger, at least twice as tall as a car.But I guess it was for balancing reasons.

I mean seriously, is Thor really immortal? Because the beating him and Loki took was crazy, and by the end there he was the only one (well and Hulk) that wasn't completely drained. I kinda like it.How strong is he in the comics?

He's a deity. So, yes, he is immortal, but he's also the kind of immortal where he's killable.

    But that's not really fair

S.H.I.E.L.D. uses a nuke on Manhattan in the movie. There's no evidence that S.H.I.E.L.D isn't a military organization or that a POTUS is involved in that decision. So its not so much a lack of realism about a scenario that bothers the Pentagon, but the idea a military institution has the ability to authorize a nuclear strike on a U.S. city with no oversight from the chain of command

Ranges from "pretty fucking strong" to "holds the Hulk at bay for hours despite him getting stronger with each blow."

Perhaps I should have said invulnerable, like say, Superman, earthly things in general don't seem to bother him.

The Hulk gets bigger and stronger as he gets angrier. It's as simple as that. The first movie had it spot on, meaning that he was different sizes when fighting different enemies. At one point he was like twenty feet tall when defending Betty who was trapped in her car. He was supremely pissed off at that point. It varies in the comic depending on the author of said storyline.

Thor, according to comic lore, can fight in full on, kick ass and take names mode for days without needing rest or a potty break.

As far as Thor's immortality. No, he's not immortal, and has died several times with each Ragnarok in his battle with Jormungand (the serpent that circles the world) only to be recreated (reincarnated) with the next turn. This is about every two to four thousand years depending on the source you read. He (along with all Asgardians) has to eat these special golden apples provided by the goddess Iounn. That's where they get their virtual invulnerability, strength, power and long life. Without them, they age, lose power, and die. Though it's never really explained as to how long each apple lasts or how often they have to be eaten.

Having read my fair share of Hulk comics I can tell you that the Hulk typically doesn't get larger as he gets more pissed. If he does grow it would be by an amount that wouldn't be all that noticeable in a comic. Hulk usually stands between 7 and 10 feet tall. Him hitting anywhere near 25 or more has only happened when some outside force was involved.

Thor isn't exactly invulnerable but his durability isn't anything to laugh at. Hulk has a healing factor on par with Wolverine's and Thor can still have a prolonged fight with him on even ground. Thor isn't just Asgardian either. His mother is Gaea so he's half Elder God. Thor can probably fight for as long as he needs to.

Future movie updates, and a slight surprise for me with Guardians of the Galaxy in the mix as well.

Oh sweet jesus... I just realized... if the sequel features Thanos, then Starfox is probably going to make an appearance as well.

Is the world ready for the date-rapiest superhero known to man?

    Haters, all of you.

Though I will admit DC has a much more diverse roster of superheroes.

Sure. There's also an alternate world out there where you're the President of the USA. And where Captain Britain is the world's greatest hero. ;)

I'm much more a Doctor Fate fan (dude looks pimping) when it comes to magic-based superheroes, but I've always got a soft-spot for superheroes not hailing from America. Batwing, Nightrunner, Alpha Flight, Aztek, etc...

Yeah. It's a pity that so far DCs efforts to bring any hero other than Batman to the big screen have been pretty lackluster.
