Using melee as a DH is just fail, sorry. We door benefit from it at all, and it cuts of a whole section of your spells. We have no damage reduction except ss and dodge, so if you get hit at higher levels you will just fold. Could you do it in really good gear? Yes. Would the gear but ranged be 10x better? Also yes. If you want to play a melee dex, make a monk.

 

Not sure if it was Whirlwind, I do know that he does play Barbarian, though.

Have you already started? I have a level 5 or 6 barb on hardcore if you want to team up.

Scared of running a barb though. Never going to get past hell...

Nah, haven't started yet. Was going to, but the server has been down for... 18 hours as of now. Long ass maintenance and then the fabulous error 37 and 73. Are you even playing on the EU servers, though?

I one-shotted that thing on normal, nm and hell. So nope.

 

I'm playing a 60 wizard. Leveled up together with a friend who played a barbarian and we've just hit the difficulty wall in Inferno.

I don't have good equipment yet and I'm unsure in which direction I should go. More resistances and life regeneration? Or more damage?

Any advice on what items to look for that sell on the auction house? I know which DPS numbers are worth selling, but on other items?

 

Glass cannon. Lots of raw damage. Don't bother with attack speed or life, you will get 1 shotted in later acts (inferno) regardless.

Make sure to use your Glass cannon passive and magic weapon (i recommend force or venom rune)

 

Assuming the cookie cutter inferno wizard build, using piercing orb, venom hydra and blizzard, attack speed is extremely beneficial. It decreases the casting time of all of your spells, which is very useful when kiting.

Also, the most popular stats right now are actually int, vita and resist all. People who say go full damage with no defenses at all are usually hell - inferno at 1/2, while the more successful wizards who farm act 3 and 4 try to have a significant amount of vita and resist all. Attack speed and crit rate is gravy, too. The reason why you want health and resists with the blur passive is that force armor can actually activate with most of the fast, hard to avoid attacks. Sure, the strong attacks will still kill you anyways, but you should be able to dodge them. It's the fast, hard to dodge attacks that are most dangerous, and having good defenses lets you live through many of them, while full glass cannon type of play just dies instantly against anything.

 

Of course, they also have had time to farm items capable of granting the maximum stats. I was thinking more of a basic blizzard/hydra kiting build, to farm act 1 without any trouble. I should have been more specific, I suppose.

 

You should be able to farm act 1 with no trouble if you buy a decent weapon off of the AH.
900dps 2handers are going for like 100k now if you're lucky, and 300k if you're not. If 1h is your thing, 700 dps 1handers are going for 250k, and are extremely easy to get.

Prices have plummeted tbqh.

 

So I just found out that I can bind the move command to a new button.

While left-click is still move or primary skill, I now have a separate button for only move that doesn't trigger a skill.

 

My brother has his bound to one of his tertiary mouse buttons. If I had a snazzy mouse I'd do the same just so that I could avoid that rare instance when I try to move my character but he decides to keep on firing away.

 

So..Apparently at level 40 you can farm NM Istaku for 21k exp. It only takes about 2 minutes, so it seems efficient, plus the exp you get for killing him.

185k to 216k exp, so it's about...31k exp, for those who are interested. ZK (act 2) is apparently better, around 50k exp a run.

 

Or, you can do a Zoltun Kulle run and get roughly 300k Exp in under 3 minutes. If you have a team that wants to power level you, you cna potentially up it to abuot 1m Exp for one person in under 5 minutes.

 

FYI, in act 1 the "Fence" NPC will sell you items well above the standard Act 1 level.

At least this is true in hell mode. My brother and I have bought 350+ dps 2h weapons and 250+ 1h weapons off of him.

If you're looking for some solid weapons to carry you through Hell (or possibly other difficulties) look to the "Fence" character in New Tristram.

 

So I just found another bug that lets me join any Inferno Public game. I'm so abusing this.
