No, but lesswrong provides links to ebook and PDF versions of his MoR on his webpage, and I read most of my books digitally anyway. All I would gain from the physical copy would be a dead weight on my bookshelf.

Also, this is only the first twenty chapters. Why would I buy an incomplete copy of a book if I can have an updating version for 100% less money?

And I wouldn't really call it stealing if he provides it online for free in the first place.

As Tesco might say, "Why pay more?".

Christ. As if Reddit needs more points against it.

Oh yeah, he definitely knows about it. When I was looking at that subreddit that was linked to I found his account and a bunch of the threads about the book were in his recently viewed list. Just because he knows about doesn't mean he supports it or is responsible for it though I suppose.

    Also, this:
Edit: Just thought I'd clarify - that comment is by the guy who put up the first twenty chapters on Lulu, not Less Wrong.

This is why Lulu probably has that policy, because that means they're making a profit off a copyrighted work, which means lawsuits out the ass. This isn't legal in any way.

So, upon a bit of digging to see if this fic was still going, I found this instead...

    I just... I don't even...

EDIT: you know what? I don't have the energy, time, or will to rant on this right now. I just can't muster the effort to bitch about this AGAIN.

But I will say this: at least we're getting legitimately published. ;)

Pointing out copyright infringement - clear trolling.

Most of the time these days, it pretty much is...

And seriously speaking, if pointing it out meant that it was taken down, then it was legally dubious in the first place. If it was perfectly fine there's no reason why some internet trolls on a troll forum would have any power over that.

Lesswrong, if you're lurking here and reading this. You're a fucking douche. Not everyone here hates your story (I will admit to enjoying it at one point), but most people probably sure as hell hate you, and it has nothing to do with your fic, and more with your actions.

The irony of a man who rants about rationality and equality frothing at the mouth with rage while making sweeping generalizations about large groups of people.

    hurr.

    From the relevant subreddit:

No mention of DLP. Maybe even his die-hard fans are getting sick of the taste of that kool-aid.

I'm kind of happy ol' Yudkowsky didn't take the time to publicly denounce the idea of fans selling his work. It makes my seething hatred for him seem all the more justified.

You know, the more I read Lesswrong's author's notes, I become more and more convinced he does not follow his own 'philosophy' so to speak. The theme of MOR is pretty much 'society sucks because people do not think logically about the results of their actions.'

But Lesswrong keeps attacking us, just for questioning the legality of what this fan was doing. I don't really think anyone here has ever trolled him (Even Silens: You were being a dick, but you had a point)

Trolling, to me, is attacking someone just to piss them off and have some laughs. We, on the other hand, are criticizing LessWrong for his sub-par writing skills and questionable antics within the community.

LessWrong: We are not trolls. If you would cool down and actually listen to what we have to say about your story, you might actually learn something.

...I wonder how many pages this thread will manage before it gets locked like all the rest.

Can we just stop talking about this moron, please?

I've always thought it was obvious that Yudkowsky was the one trolling DLP. He posts shit like that because he knows it will rile us up, meanwhile no one else on the internet cares about some (relatively) tiny fanfiction forum they've never heard of, so he has nothing to lose. Even in the legal issues with this, he has nothing to lose since it wasn't him publishing the book on lulu.

He might do it for just for his own vindictive amusement - why not? Or he might do it for some cleverer reason (well, in his mind) - maybe to make his readers think he's important and internet-famous enough to have entire forums dedicated to bashing him. That's the sort of thing one of his characters might try, so I wouldn't put it past him, either.

That's pretty much what I'd do, were there people who actually cared about what I said.

Instead, let's have a thread about what we WOULD buy for 11 dollars. :)

    I'll go first:

I'd eat this delicious gyros while reading real fanfiction on my cellphone. (with some hummus and a drink to make it 11 dollars :D)
