I do have a Blackberry Playbook tablet but it is not my primary reading choice.

If I am reading something electronically then I am more likely to be reading an eBook on my Nook or a fanfic on my desktop.

The tablet is a bit of a mix. I keep around a dozen eBooks on it for fun, usually about half that I've read and count among my favorites and half that are on my to-read list. If I am using it while I have internet access I might check/read some fanfic too. It just depends.

I generally can't justify the cost of getting a tablet since I find them nigh useless. Like Persipacity I find the interface to be clunky and it has no benefits computing or otherwise that I need. I also don't have any issues sitting in a chair and reading for hours on end on a computer screen and it doesn't drive my eyes crazy like it tends to do for many people. For the moment at least I will not be transitioning though I do occasionally read a fic on my phone.

I read actual books on my Reader, and most of my non-Angry Birds gaming is on my laptop - which needs a replacing - but for general surfing, reading, and to an extent, writing, Playbook all the way. I would note, however, that the only reason I bought one was because they cut the price in half, and the auto-correct in the Docs to Go is a bitch. Also, no arrow keys sucks.

Still better than using a phone, though.

I read most of my fanfiction on my Kindle touch (converted to .mobi with flagfic.com), but when I'm too lazy to convert something to mobi, or if the story is located in WBA, I use my iPad.

Most of my fanfiction is read when I'm in transit or fucking around between classes (or not paying attention during the more useless ones), and my iPad's proven invaluable given the great internet and browsing capabilities once you move past the stock Safari app and get something a bit more decent (CloudSurfers is available free without significant change from the full version, for example).

It's great because my plan allows me to abuse the great 3G (I was promised consideration when Japan implements 4G which is great) that we've got here, and I can stay in contact via Skype (the iPad version is still buggy as all hell sometimes) while browsing a number of fanfiction sites and forums on a big, easy -to-read screen everywhere I go.

    That said, boo Apple.

(I still love my iPad though.)

What's so bad about the Safari app? I'm not defending it, I'm just curious - I've used it ever since I got my iPad, and I haven't seen any major problems.

Are there any browsers you would recommend?

Eh, Safari is essentially Internet Explorer for Apple, as far as I can tell from using an iphone for the past 4 or 5 years. I happen to prefer Perfect Browser. It goes full screen, supports tabs better than Safari, and emulates a desktop as opposed to a mobile device. It also has a password function, so no one stumbles onto your porn Xmas lists.

Can't recall if it's free but it's worth a couple bucks if not.
