Most of your post sounds like made up bullshit, to be honest.

Unless you can cite something from canon that explicitly states that certain spells only work on humans, you cannot simply assume that that is the case. Spells only ever being shown used on humans is not evidence that they cannot be used on other things as well.

This sounds like pure fantasy. I can only recall the stunner ever failing when used against magic resistant beings like dragons. Even then, when enough stunners were used it was successful. Still, if you can prove it by all means do so.

So if Harry uses the Elder Wand to overpower the spell it should work on anything!!! (lol)

To be honest, I see nothing about the Hulk's physiology that would make something like a slug-vomiting hex not work. Such a hex would work on anything with a throat, be it human, animal, or Hulk. This is another instance of someone trying to encase and explain magic in the realms of biology and physics, which I thought was not going to be the case in this story. I could of swore I read that magic worked in this story simply because it's magic. Completely unexplainable and unlimited by science. As for a stunner, that spell has nothing to do with any state of accellerated wakefulness. It magically knocks its target unconscious and has nothing to do with any sort of scientific explanation on how.

I could see the Hulk breaking out of the Imperious simply because it is cannon that a strong will can break the curse. The cruciatus on the other hand would still cause the Hulk indescribable pain, but he would be able keep funcioning, i.e. smash shit, simply because pain alone can not stop him, just make him angrier. As is, using the cruciatus would only make things worse for Harry.

I reiterate that magic should do it's job just like its supposed to against anyone unless they can use magic to protect themselves. If the Hulk is hit by a cutting curse, he gets cut. If he is hit by a bone-breaking hex, then his bone is broken. The only difference between the Hulk and a normal human in these instances is that he will heal at such an absurd rate that casting such spells are pointless besides serving to distract him for a bit at the expense of making him even more pissed. Magic will always do its thing, but once the spell is done exerting its magic, that is when the Hulk's special abilities come into play.

The Tarantallegra jinx forces the target's legs to dance, and I believe it worked on both animate and inanimate objects. I know this is only one instance, but it suggests that spells work on their targets regardless of whether that target is human, goblin, chair, axolotl, or alien. Magic isn't going to be prevented from doing a wizard's will just because it runs into a little mutated DNA and strong muscles.

Anyone consider that a slug vomiting hex would work, but only succeed in pissing the Hulk off more then he already is? So then you have a hulk that is twice as mad ignoring the slugs he projectile vomits well charging right at you... isn't that a mental image.

Then he'll angrily tap dance on your face.

He'll be both cheerfully and angry as he kicks your ass. :awesome

Die in a fire of a thousand suns. (Edit: but only AFTER you finish your writing work)

My two cents on the Hulk problem/plot point, is that as an Author, Roarian likes to use his brain. This is what makes the story interesting, well written, and generally fun.

Thus, a single Charm isn't going to put a rampaging monster back in its place.

Likely, yes, the cheering charm MAY work. However, we have to look at our protagonist. He's fought a long, grueling war against the dark arts, then he joined up with the Aurors and searched for the most evil and worthless wizards that exist. His head is full of battlemagic, complex transfiguration, and general bad-assery. He has no idea what Marvel Tech can do, how far these "mere muggles" have come, or how bad ass super hero/villains can be.

His first 100 thoughts are NOT going to be, cheering charm! that makes EVERYTHING OK.

So lets look forward to an awesome fight scene.

You should read Hulk's wiki entry about his abilities.

Doesn't Imperio impart a sense of bliss and euphoria on the victim?

It doesn't matter how strong the Hulk's will may be - if he's too busy off in La-La Land to smash stuff, then Harry's already won.

Fair, but I don't think Harry's the type to easily sling around unforgivables, even without punishments. In canon he only did it because he had no other choice. That's not to say he doesn't know or use dark magic when he needs to, just that it wouldn't be his first choice, nor one at all unless things get desperate.

That's why arguing whether the AK would work is questionable - Harry's not going to sling something like that around for no good reason.

    Aw, shucks.

The battle is half the fun, of course not!

Harry doesn't even know of the Hulk yet, let alone what can be used to stop him - the timeline puts this as well before the TIH movie - I'll point out that the 'x days since last incident' is referring to one earlier than the one that's referenced in that movie, so we're some months early.

The reason the Hulk's storyline gets altered here is that his was the least time-sensitive in many ways, and didn't change the character's status massively; he only learned control after the movie, and really it's more an origin story of his villains than it is the Hulk's. Since Hulk, Thor and IM2 all happen somewhat concurrently in canon, I wanted to slim that down a little without making it a mess when we get there.

Yes, Harry has ways to help out Bruce (at least in human form) to keep his giant green ragemonster form under control - no, this doesn't mean he can just cheering charm the brute back to human again. Things are never that simple. ;)

About 3000~ words are written for chapter 9, while 10 is looking like it'll feature the first proper fight scene. Woo!

Or unless someone spits on a teacher who he's reasonably fond of.

In all seriousness though, at this stage of the move-verse Banner has reasonable control of his transformation. Harry popping up isn't going to trigger it instantly, and while Unforgiveables might drop him...that would be dull.

    Edit: mostly ninja'd.

Concerning the debate about how Mind Magics like the Cheering charm might affect the Hulk; I've always felt that these types of spells would include some sort of willpower component. That being said, the Hulk strikes me as the type of "person" that's pretty comitted to being pissed off...maybe even more committed than a certain well meaning wand-waver is to cheering someone up. Just a thought.

I'd guess that cheering charms would be the proverbial ounce of prevention. Once he's transformed, the sheer RAGE in his mindset overrides any magically induced pain/happiness.

I wonder if a variation of the wolfsbane potion would work, or help at least.

What's he gonna do, chuck the vial in the Hulk's direction and hope it lands in his mouth?

And it's not really like his skill in potion is up to the the task of brewing the wolfsbane potion.
