I don't normally respond to reviewers , I mainly just stick to talking to the author, but one comment left me a bit enthralled and now I'm in a heated discussion with them about the topic of death and suicide (fyi neither of us are thinking of actually hurting our self's, we're talking if Harry committed suicide if he didn't choose to go back when he's at the white train station.)

I don't know if anyone's interested in seeing our conversation. We've barely started but it could continue for a long time with the way we're heading.

But should I continue? I admit a part of me is eagerly awaiting their response as their narrow and closed mind on the topic gets pretty funny. Or should I just quite early and save me the headache.

Does anyone have stories conversing with people who were just too stuck in their ways and can't see the faultily in their argument?

I like hearing people's stories about idiots on FF is what I'm saying.

If there's no potential for changing somebody's viewpoint, why would you try? More to the point, why would you want to? You gain nothing from trying but annoyance and frustration even if you succeed.

But if you want this thread to work, change your post. A lot. What you're actually asking isn't clear, and more likely to earn a negative response.

I realize that and I'm trying to figure out how to reword it. All I gave was a slight example to my situation but my main interest was hearing stories from other people.

You're secretly asking DLP for dating advice, aren't you?

Take it slow. Don't rush your partner. They'll put-out eventually.

I thought English was your second (or third) language after reading that post. But seeing you're from Alabama I have to wonder.

Why are you even asking this question though? If you have to ask the question then my initial response is to say "no, don't continue it."

The Politics subforum is over here.

Being from Alabama, you may be new to this whole "Internet" thing, so I'll type slowly: posting private messages on a public site without the other party's content is generally considered a dick move and rarely ends well (as Silens Cursor can no doubt attest).

Actually, if the OP has a double-digit number of teeth and can do long division, s/he is probably regarded with scorn and naked jealousy in Alabama. Being able to use English at the ESL level is then just salt in the wound for your average Alabamian. Not unlike Misssissippi (and Tennessee), in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king.

TL;DR The OP is one of Alabama's intellectual elites.

So you discovered that you get your jollies out of arguing with close-minded people on the internet, want to show that conversation to us, and ask if you should continue?

    Fucking drama queens.

You realize that Alabama is generally superior to my home state in terms of academics and English speaking ability? D:

Argue if you want to argue, stop if you want to stop. Why on earth are you asking DLP if you should continue or not?

I thought Alabama was America's butt of jokes? You know - like us English taking the piss out the Welsh?

No, generally it's Mississippi (though sometimes I see Arkansas or others get a good dose). Alabama gets some of it too, but not as much as Mississippi from what I've seen.

    But maybe not!

The rest of the country just likes to pretend that Mississippi doesn't exist. We're so ashamed of them, we don't even include them in our education rankings charts. They have their own color category. See?

That map will change soon if the fuckheads in charge of TN have their way. There's the Don't Say Gay bill and the ever-popular bills from a different Jesus faction to "allow theories disputing evolution to be taught in the classroom." Mississippi (and let's be honest, ALL of the other Southern states) may not be getting any better, but Tennessee is doing its damnedest to make them *look* smarter.

"Wrong, you godless, hellbound sinner! It's only a 'theory,' and since I like to pretend there's no difference between 'theories' and 'wild-ass guesses,' I can ridicule your scientific data with impunity and claim it's baseless conjecture!"
