    Title: Mahou Senki: Lyrical Days
    Author: Hero Slayer
Fandom: FateStay Night/Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
Links: ff.net; Beast's Lair (all the snipets post)
The wheel of fate is derailed as Emiya Shirou is brought up in Uminari City. Watch the birth of a Magical Hero as the boy with a body of swords meets the White Devil.

Quite well written crossover. Grammar is good. No prior knowledge of Nanoha is required as this follows the plot of the first season. It doesn't deviate much from it and that is it's main failing. The story will probably follow to the end of first season of Nanoha, than follow Nanoha A's plot and after that will enter into Holy Grail War.

FF.net version have 6 chapters and the first half of chapter seven can be found on Beast's Lair forums. Also I provided a link to complete list of all snippets written in that universe.

Right now I would give this tentative 4/5 or strong 3,5/5. It's an interesting read but it all depends on how the plot will advance.

I am reminded of this one fic I was reading where Ed got trapped in our world after he left Amestris and somehow isn't aging, and just happens to be in Little Whinging, where Harry just happens to be going to summer school (Ed is there for some reason), and Ed is like a mathematical genius. Granted, he's been here since the 40's, but whatever, we can ignore the fact that he's doing doctorate level physics and mathematics when he's around what appears to be sixteen (as I recall, this takes place in the Indy!Harry cliche time period of right after Sirius' death)

Despite alchemy existing in the magical world, he is somehow considered a muggle, at least according to the fact that he struggles with Hogwarts' wards, to the point where he actually sweats from the exertion. Also, anti-muggle wards are apparently a dome and Hogwarts has no defenses against a determined muggle. Nevermind the fact that Filch is never shown to have trouble with them.

Regardless of all of these problems, it was readable, but I simply can't remember the name, mostly because I read it like two or three years ago.

    Full Metal Magic?
It isn't too bad. I only got through the first few chapters, but it's not really my thing though. I couldn't get into it and didn't feel like forcing myself to read more, does it get better beyond that point?

    On topic:

The Howling of Wolves by LD 1449
A Song of Ice and Fire
Essentially it is a series of one-shots that are from random places throughout the book(s), and are not related in any way. Definitely not the best of works, a guilty pleasure at most, but it is a decent way to kill a few minutes.
(On a completely unrelated note; Does A Song of Ice and Fire sound a little more forced than A Song of Fire and Ice? It may just be me, but I keep making that mistake due to it rolling of the tongue better.)

    Desolation by DeExil
Naruto / High School of the Dead
A crossover that takes the ninja element away from Naruto and makes him a pseudo Captain America type of soldier; pretty much there is no elemental nations and it seems to have some plot revolving around the Jinchuuriki characters. On top of that it is fairly short, around 20k words and the author doesn't update too often. Overall, it's not too bad, 'bout 3/5. Not the best, but it is a far cry from the worst.

    Second Chances by GrooveyGuru
    Naruto / Fairy Tail
In a nutshell summary; ancient voodoo beads allow single dimension travel, World is destroyed, refugee goes to Earthland.
A really annoying thing is the author seems to have something against referencing a character by anything other than there name. [Example, using X and Y as names: "Hey that's X" said Y. Y recognized X from the daily newspaper. Y ran over to meet him. (Really shitty example, but hopefully you get what I'm trying to convey)]
Of the three fics in this post I'd say this one would be my favourite even though it only has one chapter. About a 3/5 with the potential to become a 3.5/5 if it is edited more before posting.

Nothing too special, but it definitely fits this threads description.

    - Assumptions were made -

On the subject of Howling of Wolves, I'll give it a look, but I'm also somewhat wary about it because I'm currently working my way through the first book in the series. I like it so far, and it was definitely worth the $7 I spent on it. I'll probably watch the first season of the show after I finish the book, or something.

I don't think I've ever read a single FMA fanfic that I actually liked (crossover or not). And I really loved the anime (both of them). =\

The first 2-3 chapters were the worst, as the set-up was botched in a lot of ways, but it did not improve significantly. If you got to the Diagon Alley scene and it hadn't caught your interest then give up on it.

Yeah, I think the problem is that the Manga/BrotherhoodAnime did almost too good of a job. There aren't a lot of jumping off points to create awesome fanfic from because the story itself was really well plotted and is very hard to improve upon. Sort of the opposite of Harry Potter.

Hey guys! I know everyone here has been waiting with baited breath for Shezza to write some more awesome Denarian!Harry, but now your wait is over. I bring you...

    Denarian Chronicles: The Denarian Renegade!

    Highlights include...
AND!... actually, it looks like all the good writing in this story was copy/pasted directly from Shezza's work, but the bits that this author wrote are good for a laugh!

Just in case anyone can't tell, I'm being sarcastic. I am not actually promoting this story. It's a bit rude of the guy to use so much of Shezza's stuff if he didn't ask though. *shrug* I just found the blatant copying to be amusing, especially the way that Shezza's excellent writing is now mixed in with poor quality writing.

The author reposted the story saying he would be rewritting it, and now have Shezza permission.

So yeah. I did give him 'permission' but not as a total rip-off. I'll have to look into it and give him a buzz.

    Better question.

Where are those Wheel of Time stories you haven't updated since the Bush Administration?

Is that permission to use Meciel as well?
I thought you cared for her more than that. For shame.

Hogyoku ex Machina by Mac Ceallach
That last word is a great enticement. This is basically a Peggy Sue fic, but both Ichigo and Aizen don't shy away from changing things, and everyone's mostly in their canon personalities. Quite a few cliches, but I enjoyed it. It might not be to everyone's taste.

I'll second that recommendation. It's not great, but there's a level of competence and interest that you don't usually see in Bleach fanfiction. That one story got into the fandom again for about a week- where I found that it's still mostly shit.

I read through Hogyoku ex Machina and found it decent I guess. The ending is really disappointing. Couple of interesting fight scenes though.

I just recently read through that Fallen Renegade story and let me tell you, I've seen less sucking in a Taiwanese whore house(and I know a thing or two about Taiwanese whore houses). The writing is horrid, the characters are a bunch of vacuous wastes of space, Dumbledore at one point announces that "The prophesy is fulfilled!" and Harry is sent to Privet Drive for some idiotic reason.

Oh wait, did I mention Harry? I meant Aries Phoenix Lightning.

I think you got the wrong thread.

Edit: Damn I feel like a tool I should at least put something useful.

Hogyoku ex Machina: I read the first few chapters and couldn't really got into it. Never really liked time travel stories where everything is known by everybody.

Look up, a few posts above mine, is that a discussion on that Renegade story? Oh my, yes it is.
